The reason why I chose the book By The Time You Read This, I’ll Be Dead was because this book is amazing! It was really sad at some parts when she tried to kill herself. Also, when she meets the boy it was romantic. Daelyn Rice is so obsessed with suicide, but just not sure which method will give the best combination of least pain and maximum benefits. She can never be left alone in the house. Her parents have her on suicide watch. They follow her when she goes on walks, pick her up from school, and auditor her online computer use. Daelyn starts to visit a website called www.through-the light.com. On the site Daelyn blogs about her life, revealing a history of bullying the goes back to kindergarten. When she’s not on the web, Daelyn’s at …show more content…
The reason why I picked two theme is because she struggles in life, and school. Daelyn was always the target for other kids to bully, She was bigger and never stuck up for herself. No matter what school she went to she got continuously bullied. Daelyn tried killing herself twice. Once by slitting her wrist, the second by drinking bleach. Which damaged her vocal cords so she can no longer talk. “I've never been afraid of the dark. I'm more afraid of the day, of people. I love the night. The solitude. Well, I don't love it. I don't feel love. I hate people, so I hope when I get there it isn't crowded. I hope the light is a momentary phenomenon and the other side is completely black. And silent.” page …show more content…
He cares for her everyday at the bench outside of her school. Even though Daelyn pushes him away he refuses to leave. Just as Daelyn, Santana will also be leaving this world soon. But not from suicide but from cancer. Daelyn grows close to him but when the time comes she decides that her life is just to miserable to live.Santana and Daelyn are hanging out and Santana decides he wants to show Daelyn a clip. The clip was of Santana's early childhood dealing with cancer, After the video was finished he leaned in to kiss her and she stabbed him in the arm with a pencil. Later that night he messages her saying sorry and says he would like to get to know her better. So he asks her why she has a neck brace on and she opens up and tells him everything.“I think about my choice. Either outcome is bleak. If I stay and live through high school, go to college, get a job, what will ever change? This blackness inside will never go away. I don't make friends; I'll always be alone. If I go, at least there's hope of peace. Chance of a new and better life on the other side.” Here is another quote that goes with it. “I hope they remember the good stuff, when I was a baby, a toddler, when they still had hopes and dreams for their little girl, their miracle child. In truth they were good to me. They were only doing what they knew how to do; what they thought was
after removing the chip from the back of her phone, she hunts down and tracks her alt. After following her alt into an alley, she sees that her alt hired a striker to kill her. She gets shot in the left shoulder and only narrowly escapes thanks to chord scaring them off. After Chord patches up her shoulder, she runs away from him again, but this time, she goes to another striker job. After killing the target, she finds an empty room and sleeps there for a while until her alt’s striker found her and tried to get the jump on her. After getting outsmarted by West, she kills him and runs away to her alt’s house. When she gets there, she finds out that the striker that she killed was her alt’s boyfriend and that the next day, her alt was going to attack Chord. She immediately runs to chord’s house and tells him about her alt’s plans, only to find that he knew all along. The next morning she gives him sleeping pills and sets up a trap for her alt to fall into. When she arrives at Chord’s house, she shoots and misses by a fraction of an inch. She runs over to Chord’s house, after leaving him
Jonathan Edwards effectively uses causal, inductive, and analogical logos to persuade his congregation through reasoning and logic, in “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” in which he wants them to realize that their God is, in fact, angry with them. His use of logos is apparent early when Edwards tells the “reason why they do not go down to hell at each moment,” followed by “because” which is causal logos and appeals to the logical side and sets up his concern and his argument. (lines 10-11; italics mine) Continuing the use of “because” and causal reasoning as well as refuting his congregation's argument that God is merciful, Edwards states “it is not because God is unmindful of their wickedness, … he does not let loose his hand and cut
As she went to her room she slammed the door as loud as she could. She started crying when she got into her room because her mom is forbidding her to see the person that she actually cares about and the person that she really loved. Towards the bottom of page 102 it says “It’s so unfair. I haven’t seen Sammi or Megan since school ended. Dan’s practically the only friend I have left in the world.”
First off, I really liked your response due to the fact that I also addressed this question, and I was able to gain a different insight from your discussion board on things I did not include in my response. For instance, the way you explained how first point of view gave strength to the overall idea of history brining pride to many Chicanos not only showed great analysis, but also supported your argument regarding the character’s strong identification with his culture. You use a quote to support your answer and further analyze the quote and speak about the effect cultural heritage and history has on the person Joaquin is.
But one can never get quiet enough…’” Page
In the book The Killing Sea by Richard Lewis, Sarah and Ruslan have the same point of view. On pages 31 and 64 the book states, “Grab something! Anything!” said Sarah. “In an alley, Ruslan spotted a trail bike lying on it side, keys still dangling in the ignition.” From these quotes, it’s showing Ruslan and Sarah both care for their families, Sarah is trying to save her brother.
“True life lies in submission which permits one to dedicate his life, through devotion, to something beyond himself ” (Henry Miller). Dedication is a key aspect of life. Whether if it’s to complete an aspiration, or to stay strong during a hard time in life, dedication matters most along with motivation. The book Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden shows the Deltas and Rangers understanding of this lesson. The theme of dedication is shown through the varying levels of commitment between the two groups, and the dedication each group has to their own brothers in arms.
Jefferson controls his future because it up to one to make the choices they desire but also all of your choices will affect your future. Example if you make bad choices in life you get bad results in life. When you make choices for your future you always got to analyze and make a smart decision because a bad decision could lead you into a lot of trouble just like it did to Jefferson. However sometimes you may not have control over your future because sometimes things happen that you least expect.
In the book The Killing Sea by Richard Lewis, Sarah and Ruslan have very different point of views on the word “respect” and its meaning. In Chapter one, page 5, Sarah is complaining about what she needed to dress like to respect their culture, “The mother whispered to the girl, ‘Put on your scarf’ ‘This stupid dress is enough. I’m drowning in sweat.’” First, this quote shows that Sarah doesn’t want to dress like the people from their land because she is not from there. While Ruslan is more respectful, “Ruslan hesitated. ‘Bapa, last week I borrowed your motor scooter without asking. I’m sorry.’”(The Killing Sea, page 10) Second, this quote shows how Ruslan told his dad what he did because he felt guilt for doing something that he shouldn’t done.
Sometimes, things can be rough. In this fantastic book by S.E. Hinton- The Outsiders, the story starts off with a boy named Ponyboy. WHen his brother gets mad at him, he runs away, expecting to return the next morning. That is all turned upside down when his friend Johnny kills a boy. They run away to Windrixville together. Then, on their way back, they spot a burning church and run inside and save the children trapped in the back. Johnny is seriously injured by a piece of burning wood. Throughout the next chapters, the boys are preparing for the big fight against an enemy gang, the Socs. After the fight, which they win, Pony and his buddy Dallas WInston go and see JOhnny in the hospital one last time before he died. Dallas, who is overrun
I believe that the theme of The Outsiders is that: “Not everybody is like what you think they are”. This is proven to be true because of these next three paragraphs show how.
Ponder this thought…. A world where jobs are assigned to people, there are no colors, there is no weather, and rules after rules after rules. It would be impossible to live in a place like this. I would not want to live in the society from The Giver. The Giver society is a tough place to live, therefore I would not want to. In this society, people don’t have the freedom of choice, they don’t have normal, everyday objects, and there is extremely strict rules. Overall, this society is not the place for me.
We become friends with people who are very similar to us and share quite identical traits as ours but in the novel Never Let Me Go, the two good friends Kathy and Ruth are not alike. Kathy is serious, kind hearted and caring whereas Ruth is mean at times and has bossy attitude. “what you’ve got to realize is that even though Tommy was at Hailsham, he isn’t like a real Hailsham student. He was left out of everything and people were always laughing at him” (155, Ruth). This quote supports the argument because it shows how mean Ruth is by saying that about Tommy, Kathy has always felt bad about how people at Hailsham tease Tommy, so this shows us that Kathy is kind and caring, this supports the argument by showing how Kathy and Ruth are very different.
Deej Logan was just like any normal high school girl. She woke up on her first day of school and combed her hair, picked out the “perfect” outfit and headed out the door. What she didn’t know is that after that day nothing would be the same. Nothing that day seemed to be going right. At school drama was swarming all around her, not exactly what she hoped the first day would be like. By the time the last bell of the day rang she was more than happy to get out of that school. She drove home as quickly as she could but as soon as she got home she realized that she had forgotten to pick up her sisters. “Great.” She thought sarcastically as she sat back down in her car and drove off. Just then she pulled out her phone to message one of her friends about her awful day. That one decision changed everything. Before she had a chance to send the message Deej veered off into oncoming traffic and was killed on impact.
In Things Fall Apart Okonkwo is learning about the white missionaries coming to Umuofia and wanting the tribe to end and everyone believe in Christianity. The Igbo people try to talk to the missionaries, but the Christians capture the Igbo leaders and bring them to jail for several days until they give money to them. White Man’s Burden is about slaves who try to prove themselves against the white people. White Man’s Burden and Things Fall Apart discuss imperialism in different ways.
