Following the Civil War four million slaves in the United States were granted their freedom, immediately after the Union Victory America experienced a period known as “Reconstruction”, defined by its efforts to rebuild the country and integrate African Americans into society as citizens. During this era, radical reconstruction began to gain popularity in the northern states and through this form of reconstruction the 14th amendment was ratified, giving equal protection to all citizens, the 15th amendment was approved and gave African Americans the right to vote, and public education systems for former slaves were placed (Orson). As radical republicans took control over reconstruction, recently arrived northerners
Sitting Bull (c.1831-1890) was the Native American chief under whom the Sioux tribes united in their struggle for survival on the North American Great Plains. After the discovery of gold in the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1874, the Sioux came into increased conflict with U.S. authorities. The Great Sioux wars of the 1870s would culminate in the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn, in which Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and a confederation of tribes would defeat federal troops under George Armstrong Custer. After several years in Canada, Sitting Bull finally surrendered to U.S. forces with his people on the brink of starvation, and was finally forced to settle on a reservation. In 1890, Sitting Bull was shot and killed while being arrested by U.S.
A hero is typically seen as a well rounded individual who does good deeds for others. Whether it is saving someone from a fire or rescuing a missing child, they can be relied on and trusted to continue helping others. However, this was not the case with Reality Winner, a former NSA employee that leaked information stating that there was Russian interference during the 2016 American election. Normally, a hero displays that they are trustworthy, respectful, and brave, which are traits Winner does not reflect. Due to this, Winner cannot be labeled as an American hero.
In the book The Hate List by Jennifer Brown, the story is told from the point of view of Valerie Leftman, the girlfriend of Nick Levil. Nick shot multiple people in their school and injured more. Valerie unknowingly helped him create the list of victims. I think the book could have been as interesting if it was told from the point of view of Ginny Baker. Ginny Baker was shot by Nick in the face. She had to have multiple plastic surgeries to reconstruct something that even remotely resembled a face. “’I can’t sit here without thinking about… about…’ she sucked in a breath and then let it out with a stream an anguish that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. ‘Why did they let her come back?’” (Brown 69). Ginny is traumatized by the
The Lost Cause was believed to be a myth to provide justification for white political power (p. 341). Many southern organizations defended Southern Historical Society, the United Confederate Veterans Association, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy (p. 341). A literacy and intellectual movement, which was the Lost Cause, that sought to reconcile the traditional Southern white society to the defeat of the Confederate States of America in the Civil War (Foster, G. M. 2002). Majority of those who supported the movement were confederate leaders who were defeated by the union army by overwhelming force and not by their military skills. The Lost Cause came from white southern who sought consolation for losses beyond their control to betrayals of their heroes (Foster, G.M. 2002).

Competitor Analysis: A clothing line called Teen Hearts has a similar product and popular website listing shirts that sell as much as $38. They have the advantage of people knowing their brand, however they don’t have an actual store other than their website which may give TD ink an advantage. They do pose a threat, however if we can get our brand name out there we’ll be able to spread the word about our products.
Winners, Whiners and Weenies: In discussing the power teachers have in shaping a school culture, award-winning principal Mike McCarthy, who last year retired after 27 years serving as the principal of King Middle School in Portland, Maine, describes three types of teachers in schools:
“The Winner Within” is about a life plan for team players and what it takes to be a successful team. Each chapter is based on one subject, and that subject is one of the many things that a team needs to be successful. Pat Riley shares his game plan for team players in all of life, not just on the court. All of the strategies in this book are very inspiring and motivate teamwork. I think that the first chapter in the book, ‘The Innocent Climb’, is one of the most important concepts you have to have on a team. The innocent climb is the surge that occurs within a team as they are accomplishing more because of the synergy that occurs within a team. Innocence means understanding that the team comes first and being carried along by that.
When the instructors at the Art Institution began to espouse asinine diatribes concerning my chosen subject matter, I quit, the moment, Tommy Hadsmight, who owns a chain of ‘Tattoos and Body Piercing Salons’ hired me, Homer Scooter as his apprentice. Needless to say, only a fool would have turned down an opportunity to have Tommy mentor them. Since, anyone who knew anything about tats has heard of Tommy, the legend, the guru, and the master of masters. The grapes on the rumor vine swear that people showcase his ink in all seven continents.
Nassim Taleb—author of The Black Swan—has some ideas about other ways that unexpected events, even theoretically foreseeable ones that we ignorantly ignored. He questions the notion that the global and U.S. elite’s perpetual mindset should be one of shock and awe, as is the case—he wonders why even those in elected office willfully remain ignorant to the point of harming their constituents in various ways. 2008’s housing crisis—foreseen by the best analysts and ignored by realist banker—damaged millions of people’s economic standing, and the whole event transpired as a result of a bubble inflated thanks to human greed. The Middle East, Taleb and Blyth say, was the same way; a grenade with the pin already removed, yet somehow ignored by politicians

While my academic advisors were invaluable in helping me to complete this dissertation, none of this would have been possible without the wonderful people in my life. To my family, who has supported me through the ups and downs of my academic career. You always believed in me and seemed to know I would get to this point, even when I was less than certain. To my wonderful friends, both back home in Illinois and in Tennessee. For all of the evidence in this dissertation pointing to the detrimental effects of immaturity, having all of you in my life will always remind me that there is indeed a very bright side to immaturity that should simply be embraced. Your constant reminders that there is a world outside of Austin Peay have kept my head out
