When I reflect back on my life I see that the desire to care for other people was always in me. My exploration of the world and caring profession began in my early twenties in France and Switzerland where I worked as an au pair. During these travels I came to the realisation that the key to building a successful rapport relies heavily on respecting the childs individuality. This core belief has been a integral part of my career form the children I helped with self awareness to realisation to my present career in which I facilitate clients with intellectual difficulty to self actualise. My love of travel brought me to New Jersey where I volunteered in a palliative care nursing home. It was here that my compassion for the patients and hard working ethic earned me a position as a care assistant. This was one of the more rewarding junctures of my career as there was an emphasis on client interaction. I began to realise that this interaction was the key transforming a functional experience to a theraputic one. I realised that quality of palliative care depends on recognition of a persons uniqueness. I was fascinated by the impact that the emotional support made on the residents.(where did you go after NJ? I assume you did the degree form Ireland you should introduce that here) Eager to learn more I overcame my challenges with dyslexia and the language barrier to earn an upper second-class honours degree in psychology from The Open University. …show more content…

I am someone that invariably has a vision of prosperity and is not afraid to take risks -- always willing to do anything for the better of myself and others. I can take initiative when no one else steps up and is ready to accept any of my own mistakes.
Witnessing the patience, strength, and compassionate attributions that nurses convey within their care was remarkable. Having the opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of another human being was a very overwhelming and humbling experience for me. Therefore, these encounters set the foundation towards my pursuit of a nursing career.
Because of my work ethic and dedication, I am truly passionate about whatever roles and activities that I assume. I always handle the task at hand to the best of my abilities and willing to give it my all. As well as this, I am able to voice my opinions and viewpoints, which I consider to be one of the most important qualities. Along with all of those traits, my experiences have provided me the capacity to cooperate and communicate with a variety of people is also essential.
I really see myself as a humble guy, and an honest one. Some may even say I am brutally honest (at times). I'm great with communication, and I work well with others. I believe anything can be solved with teamwork, and I'm always willing to put in more effort to make any community a better one. I'm very easy to approach, and no player should have any issue coming to me with issues or just speaking with me in general. I have a fantastic memory, which goes great with planning things as well as remember past players and their past behavior.
My personal experience gives me emotional strength and purpose to serve the vulnerable sections of society through pediatric health care. Growing up in a remote town in
Each day as a Hospice Nurse I touch lives. I cannot imagine a job more suitable for me. Each work day I make a difference in someone’s life. No one can die for us, but we don’t have to die alone; and, that is why I became a hospice nurse. Every day is different, presents new challenges, and always touches my heart. It’s beautiful when talent, and passion come together to make a difference.

Growing up with my grandparents had helped me determine my decision of pursuing a career in the medical field. My grandparents were Chinese farmers who would always reaching out for our neighbors and providing them with life needs. By growing up with them, I obtain their personalities as well. They taught me to be humble, responsible and caring. I remember a quote by Stephen Richard, “When you reach out to those in need, do not be surprised if the essential meaning of something occurs.” This quote was later proven by my own experience, which I would get this indescribable gratification I get after helping someone. Therefore, I wanted to become someone who can reaching out for others as my grandparents ever since I was little. Being in the
I was born the fourth of December 1991 in Cranbrook British Columbia. I lived there for 18 years. Before joining the military I worked as a fry cook at a Burger King for three years and held part time jobs working for the College of the Rockies summer camp programs during the summer. My parents are currently living together in Cranbrook BC. My father works outside the province testing railway tracks for two months at a time, then returns home for two to three weeks. Personality wise, I am honest and try my very best in going towards my goal. I am also very patient with others and willing to cooperate in activities for the benefit of the better good and inspiration. I will admit I am a shy person, but once you get to know me I am outgoing. Meeting new people is not a new experience to me since I am used to new environments. Being involved in my generation helps me value myself more and to stay motivated and active. My interests in the future can change or even personally develop again but I would like to think for now, all I need is my motivation and positivity to keep learning and to never give
My field placement at the Vidant Home Health and Hospice was a challenging yet rewarding experience. I had the opportunity to work with the social workers and the Chaplin, most importantly it was a place to learn the fundamentals of hospice social work and bereavement. I was able to build assessment skills, and work with patients and their families, and to learn about death and dying. I was able to learn the value of listening skills and having the honor to make individuals and families comfortable during this challenging and difficult process. I was able to see how great the interdisciplinary team work together to support patients and families.
When it comes to being friendly, approachable, and carrying myself with dignity and grace that’s a strong part of who I am. I am a pretty well rounded individual although not perfect by any means. Throughout my life, I have always tried my best to be friendly to everyone and optimistic in all situations. I don’t think anyone would ever describe me as a critical or aggressive person. I’ve always been willing to give advice and be encouraging to anyone that I felt needed it. I believe that I am a fairly conscientious person in that I have always been careful and diligent when it comes to work and other life choices. I’ve always been organized and usually don’t act on pure impulse alone. I’ve never been described as traditional or conventional. I’ve always been open to new experiences and relish every opportunity that can make me a more well-rounded person. People would also describe me as a fairly intelligent individual with a vivid imagination. My weaknesses, however, would have to include my ability to develop people and team process. I’ve always been encouraging, but I can improve upon my ability to develop people by providing feedback to individuals on their performances and recognizing individual contributions when I am part of a team.
