Kenny, Byron’s brother, was drowning in the lake that Grandma said “A couple of years ago Miss Thomas’s little boy Jimmy got caught up in some kinda whirlpool there and they didn’t find the poor soul’s body for three days.” Kenny didn’t think that was real and when Kenny was drowning, Byron came and saved him. When Kenny was out the lake, in the book it said, “Byron was shaking like he was getting electrocuted and crying like a baby and kissing the top of my head over and over!” This occasion made Byron feel scared that he might had died which leads to care more for Kenny. Another example of a change was when the bomb happened and Byron had to take caring of Kenny and talk to him about the bomb. In the novel, it mentioned that he was crying and Byron caught him and set Kenny on the floor. This event in the novel made Byron caring about Kenny and made Kenny feel better about the bomb that happened in the Sunday church. This crisis made him be caring and trustworthy which lead to him be able to talk to Kenny. As you can see, the internal and external forces can change the way a character may act .Byron killed the bird with a cookie but he may have learn something. Byron experiencing an environmental factor of Kenny drowning in the river, Byron may stop being a bully and getting in trouble. Byron might turn caring and change how he acts in the
It is often said that people never change, and always have the same qualities from when they were born. This is seen in Christopher Pauls Curtisś historical fiction novel, The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1960, when Kenny asks why Byron is acting so nice and respectful. The dynamic characters in the novel, Kenny and Byron, transform after arriving in Birmingham.
Byron changes in the book. Byron is not a nice guy in the beginning throughout the book he starts to change like for example, Bryon felt bad for killing the bird so he made a grave and a small funeral for the bird. When they go to Alabama, Byron has changed he started treating people nicer. He wanted to watch cartoons with Kenny and lastly, Byron felt worried about Joetta because a bomb hit the church so he thought that Joetta
In the novel, “The Watsons Go To Birmingham,” the author (Christopher Paul Curtis) portrays courage through the character of Kenny in his actions, such as going into the whirlpool and going to the church to save his sister. These actions show his selfless nature and courage, especially regarding his family. Christopher Paul Curtis incorporates the theme of courage in “The Watsons Go To Birmingham” to spotlight to the readers the resilience of the individuals facing adversity, specifically within the Civil Rights Movement. Furthermore, Curtis’ experiences might have made him want to include the theme of courage. Curtis growing up as an African American in Flint, Michigan, a setting similar to the book, would have influenced his decision to address

Christopher Paul Curtis wrote The Watsons Go to Birmingham—1963 throughout the course of 1995. The novel follows the Watsons, a black family living in Flint, Michigan during the Civil Rights Era. In a historical context, 1963 and the early 1990s have far more in common than one would expect. The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964 following the church bombing in Birmingham, and yet race-based discrimination remains a problem even in our modern society via passive racism. This paper will analyze the ways in which Curtis’ The Watsons Go to Birmingham—1963 draws parallels between the time in which his is writing during and the time in which he is writing about. This analysis will also shed light on what can be called the “white
“Things change, people change, feelings change,” - unknown person. All three of these things are very true. Everyone experiences different things everyday, and that determines how we feel, act, and look. It may just be simple things like someone getting a new haircut or developing a crush. But these changes can also be very serious and drastic to someone’s life, like getting in a car accident and killing the person in the other car. In the book, Wrecked, written by E.R Frank, the main character, Anna, is the dynamic character. This is because her character has a very noticeable development throughout the story after the car accident. It was late one night, and Anna and her best friend, Ellen, were going home from a party. They both had
To begin with the extravagant list of changes let's first mention his physical changes . Byron went through physical changes when he got so attracted to himself that he kissed the car mirror and froze to it therefore started to cry. The book states that “ You could cut Byron's head off and he probably wouldn't cry .” As you can see, he went through a
As opposed to positive, change can be negative, negative change can influence the other people around you and change them as well. In the novel, John Barton dies; this death negatively influences the people close to him like Josie. Before John dies, Josie has a crush on him and says to us, ‘Picture this. School Captain of St Anthony’s. Son of a member of Parliament. Greatest debater who ever lived. Good looking.
The first and most obvious change in behavior is shown by comparing Henry?s actions when they stopped at the place with the willows during the road trip
An example from the novel “Night” is when Eliezer’s view of his father changed. By the end of the story, Eliezer became selfish because he did not want to care for his father anymore. He felt his father was holding him back and was decreasing the chance of his survival. Another example was at the beginning of the novel when Eliezer was a kind and caring child who only wanted to learn more about God. However, after the adversities Eliezer went through, he changed into a person that even he could not recognize.
In all stories there is someone who changes after something happens and it turns them into someone they aren't. An example is a person turn into someone you never expected them to be because they are hiding themselves. Its also important to think before everything you do because the aftermath can be unreal. The characters in the“ Possibility of Evil” by Shirley Jackson and the short story,” Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl could have learned their lessons. In the story, “ Possibility of Evil” Miss.Strangeworth takes her hate out to an family by writing letters to them. In “Lamb to the Slaughter” Mary makes a bad decision after finding out her husband is leaving her. These stories tell the reader that people around you have a side they don't show, but sooner or later it will come out of them.
In almost all stories, the main character or characters usually have many personal experiences that change their views in one way or another. Three good examples of this are Abuela Invents the Zero ,Little Women ,and Home .One of these stories has one major experience that quickly affects that character's views. Another story includes many small events and moments that in the end affect a certain character's views and habits. The last story shows how previous life experiences turnout to not only not benefit but actually hurt. Notice that there can be many different kinds of situations that have an influence on a character and can change a character for better or for worse.
In this story I will tell you about how change is a big role in this.I will also tell my thinking about what tessa should do in this chapter that relates.
Who has changed the most in the novel? Was it Byron or Kenny? I think that Byron has changed a lot from the inside and outside in the novel. This is because in the beginning he is lazy and rude to everyone, second when he gets his hair cut off and starts acting different, and last when he starts caring about everyone and stops being rude also. This is why I think Byron has changed the most in the novel.
