Argumentative Essay Over: The Sun Also Rises
Although some might deride certain statements or imagery contained in Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises (1926), its importance is invaluable due to the unique, historically accurate, and innovative content contained within the novel. Published in 1926 The Sun Also Rises is considered by many to be Hemingway’s greatest work, removing this novel form the school curriculum would be a great loss. Hemingway uses a unique writing style in The Sun Also Rises that he developed himself called the Iceberg Theory. This style allows Hemingway to write in very efficiently and focuses the readers’ attention away from the author’s personal opinion and to the details evident on the surface of the characters description.

Hemingway does an effective job of capturing the resentment many people felt after the war, “I got hurt in that war. I said oh that dirty war. We would probably have gone and discussed the war and agreed that it was in reality a calamity for civilization.” (74). To many in Europe years immediately following World War One.
