I remember it as if it was yesterday, maybe because it was yesterday. No, I’m merely kidding. It was this summer. Not this coming summer, the last summer. And not the summer of the year 2016, the one from this year, 2017. What happened that summer night? Numerous things. It was any other typical summer day for me in the ole’ Fritz household. I was getting bored doing things with Hallie, the dog, or by myself. I thought of a brilliant idea, “I’ll invite Kennedy over, it’s been forever since I’ve seen her.” (It hadn’t been an extremely long time since I last saw her, we simply enjoy hanging out.) Accordingly, I called her up and asked, “Hey, are you busy today? Because if not, you should come over to my house and spend the night or something.” She said, “No, I’m not busy. I need to ask if I can come, I’m sure she’ll say yes. I probably need to clean my room first though. Hence, it might be a while.” I told her that was fine and to swing by whenever she was done cleaning, and that was the end of it. I only had to wait an hour, maybe two, before she arrived at my house. We were incredibly excited to see each other because, actually, I have no idea why. I mean yes we’re excellent friends, still we saw each other a lot, and we talk, and text all the time. I don’t know, we’re weird. We always become excited I suppose. We were comparable to when you come home from a vacation and your dog goes crazy because they’re happy to see you. Similar to that of a dog, perhaps toned down
Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America's Continuing Debate Over Science and Religion concentrates on the Scopes trial, otherwise called the "Monkey Trial," which happened in Dayton, Tennessee in the mid year of 1925. The trial occurred in excess of a Tennessee law that banned the educating of human development out in the open schools. The American Civil Liberties Union needed to test the law, and a junior instructor named John Scopes, consented to help them. The alleged "trial of the century" united the well known government official and speaker, William Jennings Bryan, who headed the opposition to development campaign; and Clarence Darrow, who was viewed as the best criminal protection legal advisor of the time. The two men, plus their individual direction, clashed in the trail with the indictment in the end ready to maintain the law.
We have observed two different short stories, one called “Examination Day” by Henry Slesar, and another called “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury. “Examination Day” is about how when a person becomes 12 years old they have to take an examination determining their intelligence. Anyone with an intelligence above the norm is considered unacceptable. Anyone smarter than the norm is eliminated. The story focuses on a very intelligent boy taking his Examination, and getting killed for being too smart. The story “All Summer in a Day” is about a colony on Venus that faces constant rain and the sun shining once every 7 years. The story focuses on a girl Margot, from earth who is harassed by the others on Venus since she remembers the sun being
Summer Boys by Hailey Abbott is the first of four books in Summer Boys series. This novel helps you learn what to do when you are in either of the three girl position. This book focuses on these characters: Jamie, Ella, Kelsi, and Beth Tuttle; five cousins, Ella, Kelsi and sisters. They return to their summer home on Pebble Beach, each girl in the book is given almost the same description of the outside (tall and blonde) but their personalities are very different. Jamie is the quiet one, she wishes to rekindle her love with Ethan, a boy she had met last summer.
“I guess we will need a bed,” she commented “we can 't expect anything from her.” She mumbled under her breath.
“It has been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain, with the drum and gush of water, with the sweet crystal fall of showers and the concussion of storms so heavy they were tidal waves come over the islands.” (Bradbury, 1954) In the dystopian story, “All Summer In A Day” by Ray Bradbury, it takes place on the planet, Venus. A group of children, along with scientists get to live there, while being educated at the underground school. Margot, who is only 9 years old, wasn't born on Venus like the other children, but instead on Earth. She’s the only one who remembers how the sun felt through her skin and how beautiful it shined. On the contrary, the other children are jealous of her because she has some memory of the sun, while they don’t. Jealousy caused the children to harass, isolate, and make her depressed.
Kids can be cruel when they are envious as shown in the short story, “All Summer In A Day,” by Ray Bradbury. The sun is what makes Margot happy, and when that gets taken away from her. In this short story there is several acts of cruelty to Margot by her classmates. These kids live in the planet of Venus, and they haven’t seen the sun in seven years, except for Margot. The kids are only nine years old so they haven’t seen the sun since they were two years old, but Margot moved there from Earth when she was four and she remembers the sun and that makes the other kids envious. In the beginning of the story it is the day that the sun is supposed to come out for the first time in seven years! The kids were skeptical except for Margot because she wanted to see it so bad. The kids were starting to prepare for the sun to come out but they were sitting inside waiting. While they were waiting the kids decided to lock Margot in a closet and not let her out. When the sun came out all the kids ran outside to play in the sun that felt so warm and nice on their skin, except for Margot, who was sitting inside in the dark closet. When the kids came back inside they felt sorry for leaving Margot in there. Envy can lead people to commit awful acts and cause shame as demonstrated throughout the character's actions in, “All Summer In A Day.”
In the short film All Summer In a Day, there is a classroom full of children on a planet very similar to Earth. This story is taking place in the future and on a very dismal planet. The sun only shines once a year and only for a couple hours. On this planet it rains all day, every day. All of the children flock together to see the sun when it shines but one kid in particular is very loving of the memory of the sun. All of the children are too young to remember the sunlight except for the one, Margot. Margot was born on Earth and is older than the other children so she remembers the sunlight very faintly. William is jealous that Margot can remember the sun being out and he cannot. Therefore william picks on Margot by bringing her hope down and
In March of 2010, two pieces of legislation were enacted, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA). The ACA’s intent is to expand Medicaid coverage to millions of low-income Americans previously uninsured or underinsured. HCERA was passed after the ACA as a way to make provisions for penalties and payment programs to physicians to name a few. Some of the provisions outlined in the ACA on Affordable Care Act | Medicaid.gov include:
The movie and the story are similar and different. The first similarity is they both take place on Venus. Another similarity is the sun only came out for an hour. The differences were they had more detail about the sun lamps. They also had sun kits. The last on is in the book they said that it has been raining for 7 years, and in the movie it says it was 9 years. These are 5 ways they were alike and
“Marching Band: The Struggle is Real” What comes to mind when someone mentions marching band? Is it the music, uniforms, or the movements? Marching band is the sport in which musicians play while they march on a field to make shapes, but it’s not as easy as it looks? They have to practice a lot, even during the summer; some practices are even 12 hours long. Even through all of this it is a great sport to take part in.
One of the most primitive human emotions is fear. In “The Fall of the House of Usher,” Poe left many things unanswered. One of the main things he left out was that The Ushers aren't your ordinary family. They were vampires! Both Roderick and Madeline were suffering the effects of vampirism. “From that chamber and from that mansion, I fled aghast”. The narrator experiences all of the frightening phenomenon of the Usher House as he ‘fled aghast” or ran away while showing signs of terror. All of these phenomenon can only be explained by one thing and that is vampirism.
Two components that have an immense impact on the quality and caliber of a film are the editing and sound found within the film. These two aspects alone can make or break a film. In the film The Kings of Summer, directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, these two elements collaborate to highlight certain emotions and key moments in the film’s plot. Some of the sub-elements of these two components that can easily be identified within the film include the flashforward, the flashback, both nondiegetic and diegetic sound, semi diegetic sound, graphic matching and voice offs. Within the film The Kings Of Summer, editing and sound are methodically and tactfully utilized in order to produce a film that is both entertaining and meaningful for the audience.
“Of course.” I promised. A couple hours had passed and the sleep got to her, so I said another sad goodbye and left her to rest. Only one visit left…
Back in the day, when I remember of me being a child and it was one of the best moment I could think of my childhood that happened in the summer, where good time start it and not too far off that it sound it like that we played in the water and we figured since it is a bit hot outside i was going to six flags and having some fun with our family and friend having an enjoyable time. Few things I would say about my childhood was also the summer time, when the sun was hitting my body my mom used to worry about me a lot so I would not get dark so she would tell me to put sunscreen on all the time even on my face and in front of my friends but back when I was little I did not get what or why she was saying that but now I get it on why. Sometime when I didn’t wear the slippers my feet would burn like I was walking in a fried pan but I were to just walk in grass with my wet feet and then a few seconds later same thing happens again so it was not point of walking in the grass but I still walked. I closed my eyes one time because my mom used to surprise me with friends coming over, going to swimming and having a picnic and playing with the park dogs, it would be so much fun but we had this curfew time to get back home and the only annoying thing was the bugs and bees around us that were biting out skins off and making us scratch and the dirt we use in or the mud that we use to make sand castles out of at the beach. I tried to look up and see if I would be getting some shade anytime
