The narrative structure of a story is extremely important because it is the reason the reader feels attracted or not towards the story. J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, narrated her story in a way that makes it easy to comprehend and maintains the reader attracted to it. Rowling included several types of events throughout the novel that makes the reader follow the story without getting lost in the middle of the story. The author introduces characters without getting the reader lost, makes the reader dislike certain characters due to their characteristics, and presents conflicts between good and evil.
In Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone, the author J.K. Rowling introduces to the reader several characters.
The Golden Goblet, by Eloise Jarvis McGraw illustrates a story about a young Egyptian boy named Ranofer who has to make some very hard decisions about this life. The most prerequisite event in this thrilling tale is when Ranofer finds a golden goblet in the room of Gebu, Ranofer’s nefarious half brother . This is the most important event because it helps Ranofer find out about Gebu’s plans, it is the cause for Ranofer thoughts after he finds the goblet, and the goblet is prove that Gebu is stealing from the tombs of kings.
Harry’s road back leads him two ways. Vogler states that “The Road Back is a turning point, another threshold crossing which marks the passage from Act Two to Act Three. Like crossing the First Threshold, it may cause a change in the aim of the story” (189). With Harry heading home to the Dursley’s for the summer break from Hogwarts, having strong intentions of returning to continue his adventure (and his battle against Voldemort), the initial plot of an escape to adventure becomes a story of adventure and warfare. This change leads him into the next act of his journey as he learns more about magic and his formidable opponent.
Many people believe that there is only one world that exist, but what they didn’t know is there is another world out there that seems to be out of the ordinary. A young boy named Harry Potter lives in a normal world and has no clue of what has yet to come for him. As his eleventh birthday strikes at midnight a man whose name is Hagrid, from the wizard world, reveals to Harry that he is not just human in the muggle world (a world where people were born without magic), but he is a wizard that is known as “The boy who lived” and it is time for him to start his training. As Harry Potter leaves the muggle world to attend to wizard school known as, Hogwarts, he experiences many strange adventures that may cause him to adjust because both worlds combined
J.K. Rowling is a good writer because she uses good word choice. The first example on page 159 of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, she says, “… He squeaked.” This shows us how someone says something rather than just saying said. The second example on page 188 it says, “… come with me an’ see the Great Hall, looks the treat.” This shows us how good the Great Hall, looks rather than just saying that it looks good. The third and final piece of evidence on page 280 says, “ At once, a needle-sharp pain seared across Harry’s scar…” This shows what it felt like instead of just saying that it hurt. In conclusion, I think J.K. Rowling is a great writer because of her good word choice.

Albus Dumbledore offered me the wise insight that “it is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more” (Rowling 566). Although I enjoy reading a novel and questioning what the green light truly symbolizes, I have never enjoyed a book more than Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. The most enthralling aspect about this book, and every book of the series for that matter, is that every detail, every sentence, and every strange occurrence ended up having significance. With every sentence I was left wondering how it would somehow incorporate into the bigger picture. Each character had distinct qualities that I adored; these unique characterizations were what made the book magical. The romantic tension between Ron and

A recent article in the Time magazine written by Ashley Ross celebrates J.K. Rowling’s 50th birthday with 50 lessons taught by her. The lessons’ topics range from persistence to politics, inspiration to acceptance, and life after death. Going from the books to the movies was an journey that several million took. Even in the movies could lessons be learned. An example of an important line, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of time, if one only remembers to turn on the light,” given by Professor Dumbledore in the Goblet of Fire movie wasn’t even written by J.K. Rowling, but by Steven Kloyes because it is something Dumbledore would say.

The name, Harry Potter, has become a household name all over the world since its first introduction in 1997. The name came from a series of books written by J.K. The books follow Harry around for seven years from the time that he learns he is a wizard, to attending wizarding school (Hogwarts), to fighting a dragon, and facing many life or death situations. The book series itself has over 450 million copies in print and was the first Children’s book to rank on the New York Times Bestseller list since 1952 (TIME). While many youth and adults have read these stories, it is published as a children 's book, with most children being the age of 6 when they first start to read the series (CommonSenseMedia).
