Scrooge ask the ghost to show anyone who feels any emotion over the man's death. The spirit when shows scrooge the man tombstone which means scrooge name. He felt horrible when his wife had died and the rest of the people felt bad and sad to.
I can tell you that Scrooge sweeps over his own grave begging the spirit for chance to change his ways before awaking to find its Christmas morning. He immediately expends and become a model of generously and kindness he visits Fred and accepts his
From Stave, 3 what I learned is that Scrooge is becoming a big softie or, he's getting nicer, one of those. But also that when he sees Tiny Tim all weak and sick that he actually cares for them, he then asks the Spirit, if Tiny Tim will survive, the Spirit just says “I see a vacant seat, in the poor chimney-corner and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the Future, the child will die.” Scrooge then hangs his head (Not actually hang, he more like bows his head) in grief after the Spirit recites what Scrooge had said before. Then Scrooge and the ghost move on to another house, his nephew’s house to be exact, and they watch as Fred’s (His nephew) family and his wife’s family eat, drink, sing and
Marley’s dead and his spirit has come to inform Scrooge there will be three ghosts that will come and visit him in the coming nights. According to the text, the Ghost of Christmas Past will be the first spirit to come talk to Scrooge. After visiting with the Ghost of Christmas Past, Scrooge is durably speechless to see that the spirit was soft and gentle. Meanwhile, they flew together to a place where there was an open country road, fields on both sides, the city vanished, from what Scrooge said, the darkness vanished with the city, it was cold and there was snow on the ground. In addition to the text, wherever the ghost took Scrooge, he said he was a boy there, the ghost said “Your lip is trembling. And what is upon your cheek?” The old sinner
In Scrooge’s past and present, his actions had not been admirable. In reaction to this, Scrooge had closed himself off and become cold and impenetrable by any kindness. He had no empathy for others. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come changed this mindset by showing Scrooge the most severe consequences of his cold hearted actions. In
Scrooge first met the ghost of the future, he was terrified. He asked the ghost if he would be showing him thing that will come in the future, the ghost replied with a yes. After, Mr. Scrooge and the spirit visited a family celebrating their Christmas holiday. Although, Mr. Scrooge noticed something unusual. There was one family member who seemed quite down. The little boy was named Tim. The spirit of the Christmas yet to come told him that if he did not gain the Christmas spirit the little boy would die, it all depended on him. A little while after, they came across a dead body that was covered up. He was told to remove the sheet to unmask the body, but Mr. Scrooge was to frightened. Although, little did he know, it was him who lay on the bed. This spirit shows him his own death, and that of Tiny Tim, and the hateful legacy he leaves behind. It is this vision of the future that forces Scrooge to change his entire outlook and
Scrooge is ignorant to the fact that Christmas is about being with family. As he goes around with the spirit he sees Bob Cratchit’s family and their small goose, but they are happy nun the less. He then goes it see his nephew Fred at his house with his guests and wife playing a game. He is ignorant to the fact that they all have found joy in each other’s company. As he is usually alone on Christmas.
This spirit was unlike the others, it was a phantom. The phantom points to a group of people talking as Scrooge observes. The business men were talking about a man who had died the night before. They talked about how the man was a selfish miser and no one would show up to his funeral. Scrooge assumed they were talking about a thing of the past, the death of Jacob Marley, his old business partner. Then, they view a scene of a group, which includes Ebenezer’s housemaid, looking at possessions of a corpse. They were trying to sell all the expensive things to make money of the man's death. That’s when Scrooge realizes the corpse is himself. Ebenezer Scrooge wants the Ghost of Christmas Future to answer one more question before his time is up, he asks “Are these the shadows of things that will be, or shadows of things that MAY be, only?”(page 283 paragraph
The first spirit to visit him was the Ghost of Christmas Past who showed to Scrooge some of the past Christmases that Scrooge was a better man in the past. “Oh I loved her,” said Scrooge with a smile on his face when he saw Fann, his loving little sister. There was also the Ghost of Christmas Present. With the help of both of them, Scrooge was beginning to become a greater man when he saw how awfully Mr. Bob Cratchit was struggling. The Ghost of Christmas Present showed Scrooge how the other people around him cared for him. At Fred’s party and at the Cratchit house, they both gave a toast to Scrooge’s good health. Looking at these two instances Scrooge started to turn into a finer man for himself, family, and
In short, Scrooge hates Christmas and the first ghost shows him losing someone because of his greed for money.
Throughout a Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens finds a way to incorporate several themes by using the character Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge is visited by spirits which show him the past, present, and future Christmas. This shows him how others enjoy Christmas even if they are not rich. Scrooge realizes that money is not the deciding factor in whether you have fun or not. Throughout staves one, two, and three, Dickens shows that Scrooge is a rich and heartless man. Then in stave four and five Scrooge softens up when he sees how others live, proving the theme money can change a person’s view on life.
The next spirit that came to visit scrooge is the ghost of christmas present. When the spirit shows up to visit Scrooge, “Scrooge says go ahead and do what you have to do I already learned my lesson from the night before”. The spirit doesn't believe him so the spirit takes him to the present of the city streets where everyone is full of hate and disgust. The spirit shows Scrooge that the little boy will die if the shadows remain unaltered. Within an instant Scrooge got scared and yelled as he was scared “NO NO NO OH NO!! Oh kind spirit say he will be spared free. When the spirit leaves scrooge has a Christmas spirit an is all happy. People dont hate Scrooge like they did before because of the impact the spirits did to
The spirit of the past took Scrooge to his childhood and he was feeling regret and sadness about his decisions and his loneliness as a child. Scrooge also saw where he let the love of his life leave him because of his decisions. He was joyful to see his young crush and dance and see all the memorable times. He saw his past self celebrating Christmas and thought of joyful times. He was very emotional towards all the people that he had lost or heart. He got very mad, so he stooped the ghost and went home.
The first of the three spirits was the spirit of Christmas past. The spirit of Christmas past took ol’ dolorous Scrooge to see his past childhood. The text states that “they passed through Scrooge’s wall, and stood upon an open country road, with fields on either end.” This city had vanished in present time. “Good Heaven! Said Scrooge, clasping his hands together, as he looked about him. ‘I was bred in this place, I was a boy here.” The significance is that Scrooge learns to not be such a gargantuan jerk. Scrooge’s feelings are as if he is being tortured by the spirit of Christmas past. As you would expect, Scrooge hated watching his childhood past, and begs the spirit of Christmas past to dispel him from his childhood. Scrooge very much is gargantuanly odious of watching his childhood, as he cannot bear it. The ghost of Christmas past takes Scrooge back.
But Scrooge is not very content to see him, he wants to know where he’s gonna take him. As the ghost takes him to where they need to go they move to the big city and it looks like that somebody died, it states in the text that a man recited I don’t know all that I know is that he’s dead.It also
Using the first spirit, Scrooge was forced to face the fact that people viewed him as greedy and selfish, and began to open him up to the fact that he needs to change. The second spirit, The Ghost of Christmas Present, arrived and took Scrooge to the home of a worker of his, Bob Cratchit. It showed the family content, despite barely getting by. When Scrooge saw Bob’s sick son, he began to show worry that he would not survive. When the spirit told him that the son would not make it to next Christmas, this made Scrooge want to help him. This kind of emotion was unlike him, showing that he was changing (CC40). The spirit then took him to several other Christmas gatherings, where he enjoyed himself and played many games, even though he was merely in a dream. This spirit was used to open up Scrooge and showed his inner want to be around people. These thoughts for Scrooge were different than his from the beginning of the novel, showing that the spirits were being used to teach valuable lessons to Scrooge. The final spirit arrived, but would not answer when asked if he was the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Scrooge plead with the ghost to share his lesson with him, fearful of becoming like Marley (CC51). The silent spirit took Scrooge to a series of strange places, showing people discussing the death of a dead rich man. He then began to understand the
First, Scrooge’s Co-Worker, Jacob Marley passes away on Christmas Eve one year and will never come back. Scrooge continues on with his life, although
