Geomagnetic Storms
Introduction
The science that is connected with planet earth encompasses Earth Science among others. Geomagnetic storms, also known as a magnetic storm, a solar storm, or space weather is a disturbance in the Earth 's magnetic field (magnetosphere) caused by energy and flows of charged elements or plasma from the Sun. Solar storms come in a variety of forms, each capable of distinguishing brands of possible danger. Most magnetic storms are aimed away from Earth, but when a storm positions in our direction, space weathermen begin to analyze what sort of space weather it may produce, and how soon to anticipate the chaos [Wisconsin State Journal. P.A2].

What starts a geomagnetic storm is an event called solar flares or an extremely large cloud of solar material called a coronal mass ejection (CME). When these charged particles get near the earth’s magnetic field, due to the increased magnitudes in solar wind, the magnetic field accelerates towards the geomagnetic poles, therefore causing the phenomena called aurora borealis or northern lights. The other effect of a magnetic storm causes the geomagnetic field to become highly unstable due to the change and distribution of density, as a result, the ions in the earth’s ionosphere become agitated, resulting in disorder; a massive disruption in our technical systems [Wisconsin State Journal P.A2]. The Sun’s temperature shows a discrepancy on an 11-year solar cycle that is defined by the increasing

Some scientists believe Earth could possibly be destroyed! Scientists are discovering that Earth’s magnetic poles are going to switch at some point. They believe it could be fairly soon. The scientists are debating on whether the Earthś poles switching would be a disaster or not. Some say it would be a disaster because Earth wouldn’t be protected for a certain amount of time. After reading ¨Earth’s Impending Magnetic Flip¨ by Annie Sneed and ¨Nasa Warns Earth’s Magnetic Field Weakening¨ by Jon Didymus, it is clear that Earth’s magnetic field would cause a disaster.
Since the beggining of time, man has always been curious about its surroundings. But, as time changes so do the techniques and technology used by curious investigators. Weather satellites have proved the most useful technology in the passages because they can gather information about on coming weather, they can save lives, and they are a tool that works well with other weather calculating instruments that allow for a better prediction of approaching weather and storms.
3. Solar Flares: these are ejections of large volumes of gas. They can sometimes head our way causing radio interference and auroras.
This paper talks about the solar flares and how they go on to cause global warming. Global warming has been an ongoing phenomenon and there are many reasons it has occurred. Apart from the green house effect, global warming could have been due to the solar flares that have occurred. Different researches and theories regarding this matter are discussed in the paper.
Despite the amounts of incoming radiation, very little actually reaches the Earth’s surface. One layer of protection the Earth provides is in the form of a magnetic field that deflects charged particles from reaching the Earth’s surface. This magnetic field is generated by a combination of the liquids within the Earth’s core and the interplanetary magnetic field generated by the Sun. This field reaches out thousands of miles from Earth, so when solar wind travels through space and encounters Earth’s
Sunspots are generated by strong and dense magnetic fields, and these magnetic fields are caused by flowing plasma that gets tangled and moves through the photosphere. [1] However, it is not actually sunspot activity that effects the Earth’s power grid and satellite communications, [2] but rather the solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that can be caused by sunspots that cause problems. Bryce Canyon National Park is a one of a kind, grand formation located in southern Utah, east of neighboring Zion National Park and north of Grand Canyon National Park. All three of these parks share a place on the Colorado Plateau but Bryce is the only one to feature natural hoodoos, extensive wildlife, and an environment prime for any person to surround themselves with the artwork of mother nature. Ever since 1915, when the park was first founded, people from all pieces of the country have come to see the amazing sights within the park but there is so much more to it than the gorgeous pictures that can only capture now.
We discover scientific knowledge in various natural science fields such as biology or chemistry. A common misconception about the natural sciences is that both the knowledge they reveal to us and the scientific method used in discovering this are purely analytical. This means that these sciences are rigid in facts and do not contain any subjectivity or creativity. However, the scientific method is not a rigid system of pursuing measurable facts. It contains fallacies and biases. In testing hypotheses, performing observations, or reasoning inductively, science is undoubtedly flawed and erroneous. Paradigms, commonly seen as infallible and containing rather insignificant errors, contribute to many of the errors involved in scientific
On the other hand, the geomagnetic storms have been intensified and enhanced in their frequency as magnetic fields of coronal mass ejections indulges with that of the earth that causes change of direction and leave more radiation and magnetic energy into the environment of the planet earth. Storms in space could have a devastating effect on our society. Solar storms are a result of solar flares and are electromagnetic in nature. They are capable of causing power outages and halting all types of communication, including; electronic pagers; radio and television broadcasts; credit card transactions; military communications; etc.
Disagreement may aid the pursuit of knowledge in the natural and human sciences because disagreement leads to new discoveries. Disagreement is about gathering reliable knowledge as well as using this newfound knowledge, and occurs when a group fails to reach a consensus over the logic of an argument. Knowledge is composed of facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education. Two areas of knowledge that are impacted by disagreement are human science and natural science. Human science is the study of human behavior and how humans gather information. Natural science is a branch of science that deals with the physical world. In order for a disagreement to occur, one must be familiar with the subject and have his or her own prediction that is different from the norm. Therefore, to advance knowledge in the areas of human and natural science, people must disagree. The roles of logic, reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are used to help gain new knowledge in both human and natural science.
Science has and always will play a constant important role in my daily life, maybe more so than others. Science for me has not always been my strong subject in school and I very easily tend to get intimidated. But when I look at my daily life and realize how much science plays a role in it, I cannot help but smile. Science is not at all bad, it has allowed me to do many things every day, even if I do not take the time to stop and think about it, it is there. From the way the microwave heats up the water for my coffee every morning or the way my body digests the food I eat every meal and makes
