Patrick J. Maney's "The Roosevelt Presence: The Life and Legacy of FDR" is a critical analysis of the policies, programs and decisions invoked by Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Maney's analysis and opinions of important historical events brought forth by Roosevelt such as The New Deal, Court Packing and World War II are "off-beat" to say the least. Maney attempts to bring to the table an objective analysis of FDR's life and policies, with hopes of indulging the reader in what he believes is the truth. Although Patrick J. Maney attempted to come off as an objectionable historian, it is evident that he vastly injected his own opinions and beliefs into his analysis.
This document is a fireside chat with Franklin Delano Roosevelt which he delivered on June 12, 1944. The fireside chats were informal radio talks FDR would do in order to communicate with the American citizens. At the time of this fireside chat, America engaged overseas in World War II. In this “chat,” FDR urges citizens to buy war bonds in order to support the military efforts abroad. In essence, this chat is really propaganda for buying war bonds; that being said, the appeal to ethos is particularly strong as it comes from the mouth of the leader of the free world.
Who is Rutherford B. Hayes? What did he do while in office? How well did he work with congress? How well did he work with foreign countries? How well did he help the American people? Did he keep the economy ordered and organized? Hayes was the 19th President of the United States, he only served one term as president from 1877 to 1881. He was involved in the ending of the reconstruction, the Dawes Act, The Great Railroad Strike, Colombia and the Monroe Doctrine, etc. Hayes tried to do things he thought was good for this country but little did he know it made things worst than what they already were.
