The Reign of Terror was a period of The French Revolution that aimed to destroy counter revolutionaries, and attack foreign enemies. This resulted in the brutal deaths of around 20,000 to 40,000 people starting with the Girondins, a political party who had believed that the revolution should be taken beyond France, this view ultimately became the reason that they were executed and the beginning of the reign of terror occurred. this reflected in the analysis of the crimes which they were charged with, for no less than 93 percent were executed for immigration , sedition, treason conspiracy or royalism a mere 1.5 percent died for economic crimes such as hoarding or ignoring the general maximum.” all of this violence against those whom opposed the revolution and those who committed small economical crimes seems very excessive but violence was needed to maintain the progress of the revolution by punishing all who opposed it, and by keeping society in order. In the Terror Many, died some for no reason at all, but in order for justice, there had to be a sacrifice. If the Reign of Terror did not succeed, The French Revolution would probably not have been justified for at all. There would not have been voting rights for all the people, and they would still be forced to live under the rich, and the superior, without a say in anything. Along with all of these failures the reign of terror brought about short term accomplishments that were not fulfilled following The terror.The JAcobins brought about all of these big ideas for france but they did not last very long. “Many of its social policies were reversed or abandoned. Legislation to encourage the poor to buy land access was abandoned” All of these short term accomplishment were taken away post terror, the people were no longer able to have right to land, primary education was taken away before it could really be implemented and the price and wage maximum was expunged, all of this gives the impression that the French Revolution as a whole was a failure, but despite the terror brought about political traditions that are still used in modern day such as democracy and the separation of church and state, although these policies did not last long, as NApoleon came into rule. the idea of them has lasted throughout time. of this there are many long term accomplishments that were made because of The Terror, the French Revolution was crucial in creating and shaping the modern world. The terror did succeed in saving the republic from defeat and preventing its collapse. some of the long outcomes and accomplishments
