"How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?"-Sherlock Holmes. Most people are familiar with the 19th century mystery solving detective Sherlock Holmes and his unique style. The 20th century also has its own version of Sherlock Holmes except with a twist. Instead of a private detective he specializes in diagnosing illnesses as a Doctor named Gregory House in the show “House”. Dr House is a very complex person with strong qualities that make him a unique character to watch, not only in his show (House) but television shows in general. Not many t.v sitcoms have characters that share similar qualities to him besides Sherlock Holmes, who many believe is the …show more content…
Nevertheless, he is a brilliant doctor in the show that is admired in by everyone around him, including most viewers. With a character embracing qualities like these, we think to ourselves why would someone idolize him as a role-model! Even so, when we are able to look past his abrasive attitude we can learn many valuable lessons from his character depending on one’s standpoint. House has various qualities we should empower in our lives, yet some of his qualities are also so strong they can turn into …show more content…
In the episode Dnr Giles says "Thing that keeps you south of normal. Yeah, makes us great. Makes us the best. All we miss out on is everything else. No woman waiting at home after work with a drink and a kiss; that ain't gonna happen for us."(IDMb) He tells this to House because he is able to relate to him in the sense that they both have that thing that fulfills them and it's not love for a woman but for what they do, in Houses case solving diagnosis. Giles is right in this because in the end House is only left with one thing and that's his passion for his job; sadly this is the result to him ending up alone. This is the cause to his obsession over work and why he has such a demand for solving puzzles. This obsession is another flaw of his that is shown in later episodes where he loses his sharpness and falls into depression because he feels he has nothing anymore (article). Along with being obsessive he shows an addictive attribute to painkillers for his mental and physical pain by popping vicadins routine basis. These two attributes can prove to be very unhealthy traits House empowers yet they are also what makes him unique.
Another one of Houses most noticeable qualities is his risk taking. In the show House has an act for taking big risks and is often judged because of his actions. He acknowledges it's one of his worst characteristics as well when he says "I take risks it's one of my biggest flaws" however it
Kerber illustrates the development of the economy and expansion of land and opportunity which created a working-class him to the federalist’s distaste. The amount of land for industries and agriculture from Jeffersonian expansion of North American created a wider divide between Europe and the Americas in order to become independent from Europe affairs. The technology and expansion had developed a herd of working class Americans in the colonies. However, was poor and the federalist believes that the poor one’s conduct could be unfavorable towards the government and national identity. The federalist stated by Kerber was unlikely for a person of a higher economic standard to rebel against the government in which it had the means to get rich along with their influence in political matters was seen more valuable than those of a poor economic stature had more reason to start a rebellion against the stability of the national government. Kerber gives a persistent view of their opportunity as federalist and their success with political independence.
Wes’ home could be considered a broken one. His alcoholic dad left him and his mother ,(Mary), when Wes was young. His mother was then raising Wes, and sometimes Tony, by
The house experiences the pain, the fighting, and all the separation that the man does. (9-11) “The house came to miss the shouting voices, the threats, the half-apologies, noisy reconciliations, the sobbing that followed.” The house is being personified as the protagonist. This is important, because it reveals the relationship of the house and the speaker’s mind and how the fighting and makeups became such a ritual that it was expected to happen
In this episode Dr. House feels that Cuddy is lying to him about either last night or that day about something. House does everything possible to make Cuddy mad. But instead of breaking Cuddy’s autonomy to find out the lie it is House that is the one that ends up losing his autonomy.
At first, the house just sits there, resisting everything that wants it gone. Representing Carl and how he does not want to budge, how he’s determined to accomplish what Ellie always dreamed of , just like a house’s job is to stand
A person’s home should be more than a place to shelter them from the elements. It should be a place where one could express him/her self freely and not have to worry about any harm coming to them. In the play Trifles Mrs. Wright lived in a house that was anything but calm. In block eleven,
Through the characterization of all ten houseguests, the reader can get a feel of each of the characters personalities and traits. Two of the character seemed to stick out at me more than others, Justice Wargrave and Emily Brent. Wargrave was your typical judge always inquiring the circumstances of every situation, being the group leader, and giving everyone “his” opinion. (149) I always thought that Wargrave was a little suspicious considering the fact he thought he always he was right, and he was the leader. In fact there was even a time when others accused him of being suspicious “he has played God
The house is worth fighting for because Darryl’s spent so much time and effort on it. Darryl’s so proud of the house, from it’s built on rooms, screen in porch, the kennel, big satellite dish and the carport. Darryl even pointed out that the Victorian gingerbread trim was plastic and the fake chimney. Even the massive power lines in front of the house that scare away most people is something special to Darryl, who likes to stand there and gaze up at them towering over his home, “power lines are a reminder of man’s ability to generate electricity.” Not to mention the fact that their home is right next door to an airport, it’s so close that when a plane flies ahead, the house trembles and it looks almost as if it’ll land on your head. The Kerrigans don’t want to move, they’ve
Eastern Orthodox Church is known as Orthodox Catholic Church; it is one of three major doctrinal and jurisdictional sects of Christianity (Meyendorff). Today, 225 million people follow Orthodox Catholic Christians they live mainly in the Balkans, the Middle East, some are America, and Russia. “Eastern Orthodoxy is the large body of Christians who follow the faith and practices that were defined by the first seven ecumenical councils” (Meyendorff). The word orthodox means right believing, they also follows the tradition and the doctrine with a strict interpretation. The word Orthodox (rightly believing) was first used by the Greek-speaking Christian who labeled the communities or individuals who conserve the true faith, as defined by those councils,
The title of this poem written by Langston Hughes is “Life is Fine”. The poem is a ballad, about how someone is killing themselves but love gets in their mind and stops them from doing it. The message of this poem is if someone needs you don't leave them. Hughes uses verbal irony to make us think that he was going to kill himself in the poem but in the end we find out that he didn't when he says “since I’m still here living”.
The house itself "crumbles into the deep and dark tarn", [12] (Womak 2010) and depicts the narrator fleeing from madness in order to protect his own
People gloat about their “house” because they acquired it by their own two hands and the speaker’s house does not live up to his expectations. His efforts failed and just like a fly, he feels as if he has lived a short life without success and imagination, causing him to somewhat just fade away into the darkness in his own mind.
The house’s efficiency and helpfulness seem to make it cold and emotionless and the fact that it lives on after its inhabitants have passed just proves how the house is only a machine that is unable to love, this house will always be a house but it will never be a home.
House is one of the most favorite American TV shows which has seen its twists and turns and has managed to keep its viewers mesmerized for several years. The very theme of the drama originates from the fact that everybody has a tendency to lie in given circumstances and also other humans cannot be trusted. This same theme is reflected in every action of the lead character Dr. Gregory House. House can be seen as a detailed analysis of how humans react to each other's actions when there relations are doubt driven and also, it is the curiosity in human's nature which acts as the basis for many inventions and diagnosis.
Sherlock Holmes is a character created by British author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock is a legendary detective who solves even the most baffling and meticulously puzzled cases with astute observation, abductive reasoning and with little to no people skills. As a "consulting detective," he favors reason and logic above all else and rarely makes personal attachments beyond those that benefit him. He calls himself a "high functioning sociopath" because he does not make any acquaintance or understand emotions very well, beyond what can be studied.
