would be the result of not having laws? The world without law would be complete chaos. The majority of the people would say that we need laws. In order to keep everyone and everything safe, laws need to be set in place.

Although critics may argue that law is flawed because laws can be broken by people, laws help keep people in check and from doing what is wrong because there are consequences to those actions. Even though laws can be broken there are things like jail or prison sentences that can take many years and even fines of thousands of dollars which prevent people from wanting to break the law. Without laws everyone could do as they please without and negative outcome of themselves. An example of having no law would be in the novel lord of the flies. In this novel everyone starts to try making their own group ,but at the end they end up killing each other as without thinking anything wrong of it.

The purpose of the law is mainly seen as the achievement of justice for everyone. Justice can be seen differently according to differing values in society. Laws are needed for protection, for proper function of society and for fair outcomes.

Our society is built off of the concept of a social contract by which the individuals who comprise the society give up certain freedoms in exchange for protection by the government. The government then has a duty to properly balance the conflicting freedoms of its various constituents and ensure that they can enjoy the maximum amount of freedom without interference from the government or from other individuals. Along with the social contract comes the concept of rule of law, an essential tenet of any structured society, whether free or not. In a perfect society, all laws would be constructed off of the social contract, and thus there would be no legitimate reason to oppose them as they would promote maximal freedom and justice. Throughout history, there have been numerous cases where the people of a civilization had to stand up and fight for their justice.
