In 2014 employers in and around Odessa were just trying to catch their breath. Traffic was a nightmare, and the influx of people was putting a strain on the infrastructure. When it came to welding, many told me that they would welcome a slowdown to some degree, simply because it would allow employers to be choosier. During the boom, it seemed anyone who could wield a welding gun could land a job. Sure, many needed certain welding certifications—be it from the American Welding Society (AWS), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Petroleum Institute (API), or an employer-specific test. Insurers of oilfield operations often demanded it. And welders would pass the test, but that still didn’t mean they would stay drug-free
I have also learned about the different types of welding, certifications you can earn, and what some career options there are for welders. There are several different types of welding some of them are Gas Metal Arc (MIG),Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG),Shielding Metal Arc (Stick), and Flux Cored welding.A few types of welding certifications are Certified Welding Engineer that is where they contract documents, buildings, or jurisdiction laws may require technical services to be performed under a certified engineer. There is Certified Robotic Arc Welding that is where it allows welding personnel in various sectors to measure themselves against standards for their occupation, and there is a Certified Welding Supervisor who
Getting auto body work done on your vehicle can be really expensive; here are three tricks to employ that will help you save a little money while you get the body of your vehicle fixed.
It was typical hot friday afternoon in Miami, Florida where I encountered Mr. Tomas Name, a current law student, at the set rendezvous(Tijuana Flats). The good sir eager to start the interview received me with an ecstatic grin and said “let us get to it.” Of course after ordering the mega burritos, I got the tape recorder and we began the interview about the war on drugs, Mr. Tomas’ favorite subject. Immediately with a fire starter question like “what are your current thoughts on the U.S. Federal drug policy?” the gears were set into motion, without a flinch Mr. Tomas replied, “lately it's been getting slightly better, but not enough to call it a success.” He also inferred that how is cannabis a schedule 1 narcotic when the U.S. government has medicinal patents on the
As we prepare to finish highschool and make a life of our own we must face the daunting task of what we plan to do for a career. In making this decision I personally put hours of research into many factors like education, salary, and availability. This involved cross referencing a multitude of different sources which often offered varying information, and interviewing and experienced Certified Pipeline Welding Inspector. If I were to go through with my dream of being a Certified Pipeline Welding Inspector I would have to overcome a limited local job market, inconvenient hours, and an unpredictable schedule, but I would also see benefits like a high starting salary, an ideal environment for me, favorable education standards, and potential
Education is required to have to get a welding job. Welding takes a lot of training and skill. Some companies provide a program that people can take. People help others that r needing help on a project that is taking a while. Some people can use a full-time program to weld on bigger things like bridges. People had to pass the tests that are provided by the industries there in.
In the prime news on the television, there is plentiful atrocious news of deaths by excessive use of drugs. Often, many entertainment stars in Hollywood have been accidentally killed by excessive ingesting of narcotics, for example, Michel Jackson. Furthermore, in some cases in Canada, when the majority of the companies hire employees, they are usually questions or drug tests the candidates. Unfortunately, the number using marijuana has rapidly escalated in contemporary Canadian society, especially the teenage section of Canadians.
Beowulf opens with a short explanation of the Scylding lineage, which was given name after a mythic idol, Scyld Scefing. Quickly, the poem goes into detail of Scyld's funeral, which was an impressive rite, but soon the focus shifts to the reign of his great-grandson, Hrothgar, whose thriving rule is represented by a mead-hall called Heorot. A huge man-like monster named Grendel, an offspring of the biblical killer Cain, has terrorized the aging Hrothgar: marauding Heorot, killing the king's thanes and ruling “the glittering hall after dark” (167).
A $32 billion dollar industry which can be found on a corner in nearly every neighborhood. Forcing the criminal justice departments to spend nearly $61 billion dollars on investigation, prosecution, incarceration and victim costs. Along with an $11 billion dollar drug treatment or drug related expense. From a fiscal standpoint, trafficking costs roughly $120 billion in productivity, due to: drug abuse treatment, incarceration, and early death. According to the White House’s web site, “ In 2009, the majority (67%) of current drug users aged 18 or older were employed, either full‐time (48%) or part‐time (19%), with the unemployed accounting for 13% and the remaining 21% not in the labor force.” The above mentioned costs the community roughly $192 in costs. The unemployed are twice as likely to report current drug use, however contrary to the common perception, most drug users are employed. Full-time workers (18 and older) reported around one in 12 use illicit drugs. While unemployed workers were twice a likely (one in six) to report drug use.
“ The required skills for welding is to be able to shape and join metal” (Virginia Tech 1). Also they need to be able to fill in cracks and holes in all kinds different type of metal. I'm suited for this job mostly because of me willing to further my knowledge in the field and to do my best in whatever career i choose to do. I have great personality traits that will help me in this career field. I have a self motivating personality that will help me to overcome any situation that is a struggle. Illicit drug use and the debate surrounding the various legal options available to the government in an effort to curtail it is nothing new to America. Since the enactment of the Harrison Narcotic Act in 1914 (Erowid) the public has struggled with how to effectively deal with this phenomena, from catching individual users to deciding what to do with those who are convicted (DEA). Complicating the issue further is the ever-expanding list of substances available for abuse. Some are concocted in basements or bathtubs by drug addicts themselves, some in the labs of multinational pharmaceutical companies, and still others are just old compounds waiting for society to discover them.
This new dynamic was seen initially in 1971 by the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse (NHSDA) spearheaded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The survey indicated that many illegal drug users were employed full or part time. The initial survey was used to try and understand the scope of the problem,
Welding is the process of joining pieces of metal or other parts by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using a blow torch, electric arc, or other means. This careers demand has skyrocketed in recent years. According to Tri-County Technical College, welding is ranked as one of the top ten fastest growing career fields in South Carolina by the US Department of Labor (“Welding Associate's Degree”). Welding is a very meticulous career, to be a welder you have to be focused, careful and you have to have an extensive knowledge of the field to be successful. Welding requires a variety of skill sets. If a person has a variety of skills and experience doors will open up for positions such as: shipbuilding, automotive repair, and construction.
Joseph Dunn is the owner and general manager of Dunn’s Ski Emporium in Vail, Colorado. Business has been above their competitors for years, but Joseph believes he is able to bring in more business if he merges with the Deli next-door. The business from the ski emporium has attracted customers to the deli and vice versa. George is thinking of retiring in the next few years, and Joseph wants to ensure that George’s success continues after he retires. Joseph is a social architect by trade and has faith that he is able to change both businesses into one, while staying above his competitors. Change demands leadership, and leadership is about coping with change. The result is that businesses have to seek change to survive and compete effectively (Kotter, 1990).
In many years, companies adopted many programs to monitor substance abuse in the workplace. The implementation of drug testing by companies grew in recent years. American workers have seen a dramatic increase in the use of drug testing in the previous years. Drug testing is implemented to assure safe workplaces for American workers. Drug testing can reduce the company’s health care and insurance costs. Even though drug testing has become common in the workplace, there is little research that exists regarding this matter. Overall, drug testing affects the decisions of workers by adopting a “zero tolerance” policy. Experienced users try to beat these tests by using drug to cancel the tracking of the drug itself. These workers attempt to avoid the detection of drug use for long periods (Borack, 1995).
