When I was younger my parents used to make me do work and chores around the house. I used to think that it was child labor or something like using me as some sort of soldier, and therefore I thought that should be illegal. But now I know better. That wasn’t anything that I thought it was. But there does exist child soldiers, and the practice of using child soldiers is wrong, unjust and immoral. Using child soldiers is immoral. This is true because it poisons the hearts of young children and it is unfair towards the children. Some may say that using child soldiers is good because it is a good military strategy. But this is wrong because it is immoral. One reason that child soldiers are immoral to use is because it poisons the hearts of children.
Normally when children are being forced to do things that they wouldn't do, they are easily manipulated to take part in those things. Since they are being forced to take drugs that give them so much energy that they can't go to sleep, it shows how they are being manipulated. Because they are being forced to watch movies that are making them hungry for battle, it is causing the boys to become tools of war at a young age. Therefore, the use of child soldiers should be banned internationally because they are being manipulated. History has proven that the use of child soldiers should be banned internationally because they experience psychological and mental trauma (PTSD).
First off, child soldiers are held against their will to do dangerous tasks that they have no say in. In an article interviewing Ishmael Beah, a former child soldier, he states, "Somebody being shot in front of you, or you yourself shooting somebody became just like drinking a glass of water. Children who refused to fight, kill or showed any weakness were ruthlessly dealt with.”
It is common for child soldiers had no choice in joining war efforts. Often child are kidnapped and forced into the war: “It is estimated that over the last 15 years 10,000 children have been abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) around Gula in northern Uganda, alone” (Children in Conflict). In places where poverty is high parents may send their children into the war in exchange for food or monetary value (Children as Soldiers). During Hitler’s reign, young boys were forced to attend Hitler Youth: “Membership in the State Youth becomes mandatory. The boys in Werner’s kameradschaften are taught parade maneuvers and quizzed on fitness standards and required to run sixty meters in twelve seconds. Everything is glory and country and competition and sacrifice” (Doerr 62). Children in wars are also subjected to sexual abuse from adult soldiers around them. The emotional impact from the sexual abuse and the highly dangerous situations they are placed in may last for the rest of their lives (Child Soldier 46). The use of child soldiers has been banned since 2000 when the United Nations adopted a protocol stating that the forced recruitment of children under 18 for armed conflict is illegal. More than 110 countries have ratified this protocol, but it continues to be an issue around the world (Facts About Child
Recently, two million children have died over the past ten years due to becoming a child soldier. A huge deplorable development that has extended recently is the increase of child soldiers. Children are constantly being used as soldiers for various reasons. In some countries, there are more child soldiers than they are adults because children are more compliant. Children have been exploited as soldiers because they are being recruited to do a violent action, it is difficult for them to, later on, assimilate back to their lives, and child soldiers are regularly used in developing countries.
First off, child soldiers are often forced to be recruited. “Often they are abducted at school, on the streets or at home.” ("From Cradle to War." Amnesty International. Amnesty International USA, Web. 3 May 2016.) Almost all child soldiers are forced to do things as a soldier that they wouldn’t actually do, such as hurt or kill others. So although some child soldiers want to hurt or kill, most don’t want to. So obviously, most child soldiers are forced to do bad things that they don’t want to do, and wouldn’t do if they hadn’t become a soldier.
Going back to the topic of the child soldiers getting taken from their families, brainwashed and drugged. Most child soldiers are taken from their homes and are trained to kill people. Although I understand that some of them volunteer to join, they
In the past 15 years the use of child soldiers has increased majorly and has spread to almost every corner of the glob.they are involved in almost all major war conflicts to date.Today there are thousands of children serving illegally as soldiers in many armed conflicts worldwide. children
Am here to talking about child soldiers how do they get the child soldiers hear let me tell you how they get them they kidnap them when they a little kid like ages around 7 to 9 and the people train them for war they train to kill other people some of the kids do drugs. Children are more easily manipulated than adult fighters. Many children will fight on the frontlines. Not all fight, they may be given jobs such as couriers. Girls are often forced into sexual slavery. Many are recruited by force stolen from their families and forced to fight. In some cases children are made to kill their relatives so they can never return home. Others join voluntarily, driven by poverty and the hope of a regular meal. These child soldiers are
The use of child soldiers have become a normal contribution to armies, especially in countries such as Africa. Although, countries such as Afghanistan, India, and Libya have been using child soldiers since 2011. According to “Children in Conflict: Child Soldiers,” there has been 36 countries involved since 1998. Something needs to be done about this issue due to the fact that thousands of
Child soldiers has been becoming a problem since 1980. The question is, should they be criminals or victims? I feel that these children should be victims because, if they are getting forced to join without any chance to say no, and their killing people because their getting forced to, then why make them a criminal? Children's brains are not fully developed, when they are getting told what to do at such a young age, they don't really think about how bad a crime can be that they caused. Kids under the age of 15 makes it a lot easier to bribe then an adult it would to bribe an adult.
I firmly believe that using child soldiers in a war is wrong. Every kid deserves a childhood and to be able to have fun while they can. Also with how much drugs child soldiers are administered they can become easily addicted to hard drugs at a young age. People use child soldiers b/c there is never a shortage of children and they will just go kidnap more. It’s sad to see how the world has become. Drugging kids to make them do your bidding is just wrong. These young children are trained in combat and given a gun. If they do not do something right they get beaten bloody and have to try again. Child soldiers are slaves to a sick minded government that cares about no one but themselves not the people of the country. If a child soldier is abducted
If child soldiers should not be held accountable for their actions, then neither should adults. Which, could be a reason why society continues, time and time again, to charge children as adults in times of war. So that they can punish both parties without looking like the bad guy. Is that just, to punish children for fighting in a war? These children have already gone through very, very hard times. Most of their parents have died, and then they were threatened to either join the war efforts or die. Once the children join the war, they are forced to do drugs and kill people. Unlike most adult soldiers who join for a “cause.” Therefore, the reason why we shouldn’t punish children for wars they can’t control, is because they never willingly went to war, they’ve gone through sufferable trauma, and it’d be more helpful if people listened to them instead of punishing them automatically.
All countries want to work with the UN to build an environment free of child soldiers. The United Kingdom believes that recruiting young children by force should be forbidden, especially since many child soldiers had no choice due to poverty. The international community should prevent child soldiering by supplying children with basic necessities and education. If children are healthy and well educated, they are less likely to be targeted by armed forces. Supported by Hillary Clinton, Tostan is located in eight countries and develops education in rural communities. The NGO holds classes for both adults and children, where students are taught human rights, academics, and health practices. It has improved the lives of over 200,000 people. Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere gives millions of people educational services in 36
Child soldiering has been and continues to be a problem in countries all across the world, however primarily focused in the East. Uganda has faced many instances where child soldiers were being involuntarily imposed into the war. The most recent incident involving Joseph Kony, rebel leader of the Lords Resistance Army, brainwashing millions of Ugandan children and forcing them to fight in the war. Imagine waking up and going through your daily routine, which has become almost a second nature. It’s normal for me to wake up, eat breakfast and do homework but the routine for child soldiers includes drugs and violence that is unimaginable to people like me who have never been exposed to the atrocities of war. These children had their lives stripped
There are many charities for trying to support the children who are getting brought up by horrible people teaching young children bad influences. The program run by the government talks about the issues, what’s happening there, getting involved and says how many countries are supporting child soldiers to work with them.
