Twenty million undocumented immigrants live in the United States today. About one-hundred thousand immigrants cross the border each year, and nearly sixty percent of undocumented immigrants enter the U.S. legally but stay after their visa expires (Wepman 314). To enter the U.S. legally, one must have a secured job in the country. Another way to enter is by having a family member who can prove they can support the person they want to bring into the U.S. Most immigrants do not have a secure job waiting for them, or a family member inside the country. All they have is their family living in poverty, their children not being able to get an education, and their family not having enough to eat or anywhere to sleep. It is extremely expensive and may take up to ten years to go through the legal process.

On Monday March 6, President Donald Trump signed a revised executive order that bans immigration from six Muslim countries, including Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Sudan. The previous executive order also included Iraq, but was dropped due to the state’s significant role in the war on ISIS. This order also bans all refugees from coming into the United States for 120 days for the purpose of stronger security in the U.S. But, there are a few flaws in this ban, like the fact that the none of the six countries have committed a terrorist act on U.S. soil in the past 40 years (Gibbs). The ban will prove to be more unsuccessful overall than effective in strengthening the national security. Trump’s travel ban will be detrimental to the global economy because it will

United States is the nation of immigrants. Everyone living in the United States has migrated here, whether it was 10 years ago, 100 years ago, or 10,000 years ago. Migrations can take place for many reasons, the main reasons being the search for a better life, escape from poor conditions or as captives. We all have stories that branch out to other homes outside of this country.
Many white immigrants such as Irish, Germans, Italians and the Scottish, just to name a few, have become part of the “white race”. Originally, these distinct ethnic groups all had their own identity, in a sense. All of these groups, just like other “inferior races”, faced oppression and challenges that made them comparable to the black Americans or any other people of color. However, when these groups began to migrate to the United States, they had an opportunity to become part of the “superior race” to become that which had oppressed them and instead of being oppressed they could be the oppressors. When these European decedents began to immigrate to the United States, they were faced with a significant proposition: a low economic status in

Whether it is for a better job, better education, or simply to be with loved ones, immigrants have come to the United States with dreams of living a better life. The United States is none other than a make up of immigrants from diverse countries. Immigrants have been coming to the United States since its founding and have shaped the way this country is today. Some immigrants pursue the legal route – getting a visa in order to work for the status of a citizen while others illegally enter the country and risk being detained and deported. It is estimated there are approximately 11.7
Immigration is a worldwide issue. Thousands of people escape from their native countries for various issues which include fleeing from war, violence, or simply fleeing to find a better future elsewhere. Our country itself was born on the basis of European immigrants migrating into the new world to find new lands, people to convert, freedom, and economic prosperity. As thousands of millions of people flow into other countries, they bring with them traditional values that are a custom to them in their native countries. In America specifically, our country is home to millions of immigrants from countries all over the world. So the question is why are some of these immigrants and their descendants considered “American” while others are thought of as outsiders? Many immigrants and their descendants are considered America while others are classified differently because the generation the immigrants is plays a huge role in the classification of the immigrant, the languages and culture the immigrant brings defines him or her, and because some immigrants adapt to their new environment faster than other immigrants.
Human migration can be defined as the movement of people from one place to other areas due to several reasons. It might be permanent or temporary, or forced or voluntary. Migration is not recent phenomenon and people were migrating starting from long time ago but the reasons are different today. The notion of migration can be bad or good depending on the type and forms of migration. Sometimes it can be a merit for the migrants, sending and receiving countries but, it can also be disastrous for them. It might be horrible for sending countries especially when they loss skilled labor forces so called “brain drain” but it became worth when the sending countries get remittances to build foreign exchange reserve capacity and the investments they made through their families or by themselves after returning to their homelands.
