Everybody knows that the United States is a nation of immigrants. Immigration to the United States first began when the first English settlers arrived at Jamestown,Virginia.
The immigration debate in this country has grown stronger over the past few years. There are valid reasons for being in favor of allowing immigrants to enter this country. However, there are also legitimate concerns from those who oppose immigration to this country. I believe that by allowing immigrants to enter the country, it’s diversity increases and culture expands. It gives struggling people from all over the world an opportunity to a better life. This country was built by immigrants who sought opportunity, political & religious freedom, etc. Some of the most intelligent and ambitious individuals, who are unsatisfied with their own countries, bring their skills to America.

According to “The U.S. Immigration Debate” by the Council on Foreign Relations immigrants comprise about 13 percent of the U.S. population. Together, immigrants and their U.S.-born children make up about 27 percent of U.S. inhabitants. A 2016 Gallup poll found that 72 percent of Americans considered immigration a “good thing” for the United States, and as many as 84 percent supported a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants if they meet certain requirements. A separate Gallup poll found that among Republicans, 76 percent support a path to citizenship while 62 percent supported a proposed border wall. Obama and Trump
