They are taking advantage of e-cigarettes with their less noticeable plumes of smoke and their ability to be easily concealed, unlike normal cigarettes. The author also says that these vapes are easily purchased or gotten by teenagers under the age of 18. The author believes that the government should be taking steps in order to prevent vapes from getting into young hands. A major issues we face today is how un-informed people are on the vaping world also known as e-cigarettes. For that I have chosen an article called America’s vaping revolution: How suspicious should we really be of the e-cigarette craze by Noah Charney posted on Sunday, Dec 7th, 2014. This article is about what e-cigarettes are, where they came from and their uses and effects that they can cause. I’m choosing this article because vaping (smoking E-cigarettes) is something that not a lot of people understand. Some people believe it is bad for you and that it won’t help stop smoking and that it can still cause health issues. Other things include the cost; some say it cost less than cigarettes and should e-cigs not be allowed in certain places. Most people are not informed about vaping on if it’s truly harmful or not they just assume it’s the same as smoking a cigarettes and that’s all it is but over the years it has changed a lot.

Although this is much healthier than smoking it does terrify a large group of men and women. They are scared of rumors of high levels of formaldehyde, nicotine overdoses, and effects of the lungs, and keeping it from out of the hands of our youth. Although the rumors are spread like wild fires there are no actual threats in e-cigs, and they should not be banned or feared.

A study from NBC News (Leshae) shows that electronic cigarettes are a technique for smokers to try quitting their addictions. Manufacturers consider that e-cigarattes are healthier than normal tobacco cigarattes, since smokers are inhaling vaporized nicotine rather of carcinogen-filled smoke. However, according to a Thomas Jefferson University Alumni article, some reseachers have found harmful ingredients in certain e-cigarettes, such as ethylene glycol poisoning, a primary ingredient in brake fluid and antifreeze. E-cigarettes mey seem like a healthier alternative to traditional cigarettes, nevertheless there is some research that proves the contrary and we still don’t know its long term effect.
The article “To regulate or not to regulate? Views on electronic cigarette regulations and beliefs about the reasons for and against regulations” brought forward on the regulation of vapes and electronic cigarettes. This article shows studies that were taken through online polling of adults from Amazon mechanical Turk. The polls took place in May of 2015. Overall the article is about whether to or not to regulate electronic cigarettes or vapes. As most people disagreed with most of the reasons to not regulate the vapes, most did agree with one idea that should be implied if the regulation of vapes and e-cigs “electronic cigarettes” continued. That was if they continued to be regulated then a label warning exclaiming that the products contain nicotine should be added to all devices and products that go along with it.

An electronic cigarette, or E-cigarette, is a new form of tobacco product that is increasing in its popularity; it allows one to inhale a vapor in the same way one would smoke a traditional cigarette ("E-cigarettes and Lung Health"). Some people believe that E-cigarettes are better than cigarettes for various reasons, and this belief may be true. These claims do not mean, however, that E-cigs should be welcomed with open arms because of the risks still involved in them. E-cigarettes are dangerous, like tobacco, and their risks should be evaluated being that they are not a good choice for anyone. They should not be made accessible to teens because of the many dangers one can see just with a quick glimpse into E -Cigs. The first red flag one

Thanks for elaborating on this topic. The craving for nicotine has caused an effect on the lives of those who smoke and yet very difficult to let go. From my part of the world, smoking is a taboo for women but I see both men and women smoking in the United State, it was a shock to me. The point is that smoking is bad and has detrimental effects on the body. When the E- cigarette was discovered it became the new thing but now is a concern that it might live a life long addiction for nicotine (Knickman & Kovner 2015) Does this mean the E cigarette has nicotine in them? why is there that fear?. The problem we have is how we help those who smoke change their lifestyle. As explained by Schwartz et al (2010) lifestyle change has proven to produce
But vaping devices are packed with potentially harmful materials.” In the passage, it also states “And then there’s the nicotine. This is the component in cigarettes that smokers get hooked on. There are concerns for the teens who get addictive because they are consuming a Juul within a day, which is not healthy for them. Others who get addicted to using the Juul are more likely to move on to a cigarette. Overall, the e-cigarette industry is filling teens minds with lies, but in reality, the teens are being harmed with the detrimental components, which then causes them to become
In the past few decades extensive research has gone into studying the effects of cigarettes on air quality. Many carcinogens and particulate matter (PM) exist in the second-hand smoke. The results from these studies have led to anti-smoking campaigns across the country; consequently changing the cultural acceptance of smoking into a cultural taboo. Not only did smoking affect the health of the consumer but conventional cigarettes also spewed several toxic chemicals into the environment that affected other people’s health. The environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) has been associated with cardiovascular problems, asthma, respiratory infections, and lung cancer. Consequently, this has led to the ban of smoking in many public places like public buildings, bars, and restaurants (Schober et al.). Unfortunately, the nicotine in cigarettes makes this product very addictive and for several years many people wondered if a product could be invented that simulated smoking but without all the chemicals.
