Since Roe v. Wade in 1973 the Nation has been divided into two schools of thought. Both sides have convincing arguments that are heard all around. The Pro-Life group believes that abortion is ultimately murder. Even if that human is not born you are killing the potential of a living homo sapien. The Pro-Choice group on the other hand looks at this not as murder but an infringement of our constitutional rights and that we are empowering women to make this a decision about their body and not to be obstructed by the government’s views.(Abortion Procon.org) Maureen Shaw is a feminist, writer, and a mother. Have you ever wondered why abortion is such a debated topic. How some politicians use it as a political ploy and others are completely against abortion? Also, if the supreme court says abortion is legal, why have many states added so many restrictions and rules to it. If abortion is legal, why does the government try so hard to make women feel like it isn’t. When did it become ok for the government tell women what and what not to do with our bodies and made our decisions for us? These new abortion restrictions makes it even harder for women to have an abortions, then it already is.

Many will say that they are pro-life, while others would say they are pro-choice. When it comes down to abortion, there are many arguments and fights about which is right and which is wrong. There is no way to justify what is right and what is wrong because, abortion is neither right or wrong. There are so many factors into why someone would get an abortion. For instance, if they were raped and ended up pregnant, if they financially can’t support the child, or if they physically cannot have the child.

Society can be so judgmental no matter what you do someone will always have a different way of viewing it than you do, or you’re not doing it the way everyone think it should be done so you’re instantly “Judged”. Whatever you do in life make it be for yourself, always make the decision you think needs to be made because whatever the decision is nobody else will have to live with either the mistake or the lesson learned but you.

Each day throughout our world, medical professionals suction thousands of babies from their mothers’ wombs through a procedure called abortion. The law protects and provides consent to both the mother and the medical professionals for these procedures. However, the babies seemingly have no right to protection or life themselves because of the argument regarding when a fetus is determined be human and have life. This applies for women who have been either sexually assaulted or participated in consensual intercourse, which resulted in a pregnancy. But their statement is false, even if we may have a moral right to make sacrifices, we are not obligated to.

Some believe that the conception of a child does not make a child human until it is born or reaches a certain stage in the growing process. I believe that the child is human once it is conceived. Lives are being taken before they are even given a chance to live. Children are being denied life and a future. Dreams and purposes are being shattered because women are making the selfish decision of not allowing their creation to fulfill their purposes in life. In my opinion, unless a baby is conceived thru rape, has a terminal or handicapping issue that would affect their life, or if pregnancy will be physically harmful to the mother.

Abortion is a topic that everyone has an opinion on, it is described as “The termination of a pregnancy and the expulsion of pregnancy tissue, including embryo/fetus, placenta and membranes.” (Abortion,2017). Abortion is a topic that will never be agreed upon it is a very controversial topic which there has been two groups formed, one is called Pro-Life and one is Pro-Choice. Pro-Life is a group that believes that the unborn baby has the same rights as a mother, a fetus life begins at conception. Pro-Choice is a group that believe that a fetus is considered a life when the baby is considered Viable, they say that a person’s age is calculated by when a person is born not when they are conceived (Procon.org). If a form of prevention is offered free and an accessible birth control is available and it is taught by a professional in school on sex ed., less abortions would be needed. Although over a million abortions happen in a year’s time, it does not mean they are all for the right reasons. If you should need an abortion due to incest, rape, or a medical reasoning then those are for the right reasons. Using them as a form of birth control or fear of not affording a baby are not the right reasons to get an abortion.

El Salvador has the world’s strictest laws on reproductive rights. The punishment for murder and abortion go hand in hand. El Salvador criminalized abortion 20 years ago and is one out of 5 other countries where abortion is illegal under no circumstance, even in the case of rape, incest or miscarriage. This law has led to the imprisonment of dozen young women. Women who’ve had abortions or those who have experienced a miscarriage can face up to 30 years minimum to 50 years maximum in prison. Recently in El Salvador, a 19-year-old student was sentenced to 30 years in prison after having a baby that was stillborn.
