For the past twenty to thirty years, hydraulic fracturing, more commonly known as fracking, has been the number one source of natural gas, oil, and energy in the United States. The process of fracking is that a well is built above the ground and then a drill digs several thousand feet deep into the ground to extract the oil and natural gas that is trapped inside of rock formations. Fracking is very controversial because of the cost of the process and the environmental “threats” that it poses. From methane emissions to earthquakes, fracking has been accused to be linked with several environmental issues. To prevent any environmental dangers, states place regulations and boundaries that energy companies have to follow in order to build a well and keep it up and running. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) also works with states to help regulate these wells. More importantly, fracking in the United States is very important and acts as a bridge to the future. While it may be argued that hydraulic fracturing is not beneficial to the economy and harmful to the environment, fracking in the United States should not be banned because fracking is not only imperative to the growth of jobs and the economy, but it also does not put the surrounding environment in danger.

The job of fracking constitutes of gas being released to supply both Australia and overseas countries. Administrators and workers take this process seriously as every cubic foot of gas is measured and supplied. This caused a major problem in for farmers as they live on rent as well as the decrease of jobs is becoming difficult to maintain that wage. Furthermore, as the natural is supplied throughout the world, citizens must pay double or triple the prices in the upcoming years due to this fracking site.

Though many believe fracking is the key to an independent energy source, it causes many problems such as: global warming, water contamination, bad air quality, and even earthquakes. These fluids can sink into aquifers and turn water into a noxious mix, even the water that comes back up is almost untreatable after coming in contact with these chemicals (Griswold). Although the dangers are well known, it is no surprise that water sources have already been contaminated due to inattentiveness.

The question asked was “should fracking be used to release oil and natural gas?” I believe thatwe should use fracking to release oil and natural gases. Although, it has its negatives italso allows use to do what we do today. We have came to heavily rely on these oils andnatural gases and fracking is just another think allowing us to get what we need. Fracking is a very debated topic around the world, whether we should continue fracking for the oil and gas it produces, or if the pollution caused by fracking is too much of problem. On the negative side of fracking, the effects from include: worsened asthma, stress, heavy pollution around the oil and gas sites, etc. If you look on the positive side of fracking you’ll find it is a way of producing oil and gas that could take America to the top in terms of energy export around the world, and it creates numerous jobs, which surely helps out the American economy.

Fracking has a negative effect on the planet and the creatures living on it. In the article “Environment America” the author is trying to state that this is harming us, and the world around us. For example “ However, the true cost of fracking — ranging from cleaning up contaminated water to repairing ruined roads and beyond.” “ Environment America” is trying to say how this can even make our water contaminated. Then it just takes more time to clean the water, and it takes a lot more money as well. Another piece of evidence from “Environment America” is “ And as with the damage done by previous extractive booms, the public may experience these costs for decades to come.” This other piece of evidence explains that if someone does not stop this now it will go on for decades, and just become a bigger problem.
