There are two legends that are often associated with the Chupacabra. In Chile, there is a creature known as the Peuchen. It is described to be a winged snake. The legend states that it is a shapeshifter, living hidden as a human, and then changing to ts winged snake state. Its gaze paralyzes its victims, so it can swoop out of the sky and suck their blood. It is thought that this legend derived from the Vampire Bat population in the area. The second legend comes from the Phillipines. The Sigbin is a creature that resembles a hornless goat, and has the powers of invisibility. It has a large tail it uses like a whip, large ears that clap and make whistling noises, and emits a terrible odor. It comes out at night and sucks the blood of unsuspecting
an actual Chupacabra found in Texas. This animal seems to be related to a coyote. No evidence
There are many different species of snakes that inhabit Arizona, but the Sonoran Coral Snake, the Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake, the Milk Snake, and the Sonoran Shovel-Nosed Snake are particularly interesting because despite being different species they all look like one another. The red, black, and yellow stripes they share can be attributed to evolution and environment. The four species of snakes have different diets, habitats, and distribution, but they do share one environmental element: primary predators. All four snakes have raptors, long tailed weasels, and badgers as predators. These snakes have evolved to have stripes because raptors, long tailed weasels, and badgers are less likely to eat snakes with red, black, and yellow stripes
Mongoose fight snakes, many snakes, but in this story, a little mongoose fights two King Cobras. Rikki Tikki, the little mongoose, defeats two King Cobras, Nag and Nagaina, that try to harm the family that is cared for by Rikki Tikki. Rikki Tikki was found by them because he was washed up by a storm and fell into a river. Both of these stories have an amazing perspective of a story. However, they are different to each other in some cases.
Rattlesnakes are predators that live in a wide array of habitats , hunting small animals such as birds and rodents. Rattlesnakes have a rattler on the end of their tail to warn other predators that it is dangerous. A rattlesnake’s venom is very lethal to small children and those with weak immune systems. Although today we have many effective ways of treating snake bites, in the 1800s it was very difficult to treat a bite from a rattlesnake. They had a few ways of trying to remove the poison from the wound.
Chupacabras don’t have one true habitat, like other creatures we have covered thus far. They move around, so they are nomadic, and always appear to be acting alone. This leads one to wonder how they reproduce, if they exist at all.
necked prehistoric beast. None of the stories have been confirmed to be true or any more relevant
Sitting bull was born in the 1830s on the plains of North America that we know as South Dakota. His actual name is Hunkeshnee which means “slow”. The Sioux tribe moved from place to place for hunting buffalo.
The Chupacabra is the legendary hairless, dog-like creature that is responsible for the cattle mutilations in Latin America. This “strange alien-like bipedal monster with red eyes and a long, thin row of spikes down its back” rips its victims apart and removes the ears, eyes, lips, and some organs (Coleman). Also, it sometimes drains the blood completely. The creation of the Chupacabra says a great deal about humanity. The legend of the Chupacabra shows that humans want an explanation for abnormalities, let their imaginations run too wild, and need a scapegoat for their carelessness.

Sitting Bull was born in Dakota Territory. He was named Jumping Badger at birth, when he was fourteen years old he accompanied a group of Lakota warriors (which included his father and his uncle Four Horns) in a raiding party to take horses from a camp of Crow warriors. Jumping Badger displayed bravery by riding forward and counting coup on one of the surprised Crow, which was witnessed by the other mounted Lakota. Upon returning to camp his father gave a celebratory feast at which he conferred his own name upon his son.
Ms. Corte told me this legend is important in the context of the religion of Santeria, which I explored further in research. This legend is part of the Cuban religion known as Santeria, which means "the way of the Saints." This religion formed in Cuba when West Africans were transported to Cuba as slaves. They combined their African religion with Catholicism, forming Santeria. This religion focuses on spirits (Ayorinde). The Santeria religion is based on beliefs that "there are forces of nature (or parts of God) who deal with the affairs of men on earth, and the governing of the universe in general" (Brown). Furthermore, the Santeria religion relies heavily on different classes of being in order for humans to enhance their health, life, and fortune (Clark). Cubans use legends such as "The Owl and the Sijú" to show how humans, nature, and the spirit world are all linked to each other. This legend can help outsiders gain a better understanding of the Santeria religion and its meaning.

Thomas King's "The One About Coyote Going West" encompasses a Cherokee variant on Native Creation, the role of Coyote, the effect of white people on Natives, and a moral lesson classic to Native mythology. Also prevalent is the clichéd "don't fix it if it ain't broke" idea wherein matters of concern deteriorate when tampered with.

I have decided to do my thrid quarter project on “El Chupacabra”. El Chupacabra is a myth or legend centered from Puerto Rico. I have grown much interest in this folktale. The mysterious and puzzling creature brings great interest to me. I’m eager to learn more about the Chupacabra. So with interest I believe this topic would be the correct choice for me.
