The Past is the Key to the Future Heather stumbled into the empty apartment. Through the walls, she could hear the sobs of the neighbours in mourning, the atmosphere filled with sorrow. Today, September 24th only marked the fourth day after the big news was announced. In her head, Heather had played and replayed the events of that day countless times, yet the truth still holds. This is the reality. Four days earlier….. You never know what to expect each day until things have played out, you don’t know when it might just be your lucky day. Nor do you know the day in which you pass away. Today, just felt different to Heather, she felt it in the pit of her stomach from the second she had opened her eyes. She just had this instinct, a …show more content…
Although everyone is saddened by this news, some people had taken fate into their own hands. An 8th of the global population was deceased upon five days of receiving the news. The first day the news was released in which we call the Big One, was the day that Earth had exploded into chaos. Approximately 10,000 people died of heart attacks just upon receiving the dreadful news. Many more committed suicide, crimes and the chaos claim the lives of numerous others. By now things have settled down, but the changes in the atmosphere are subtle. Now, outside activity is strictly monitored, each person only allowed to be outside for 30 minutes each day. Not only that, many people are already showing side effects of the changing air qualities at ground level, developing a sickness that makes your lungs collapse. This was only the beginning of something that will develop to be much more disastrous. After setting down her bag by the door, Heather flipped open the TV again to check on the updated news, she was shocked. The US government had declared that they are using their nuclear bombs to end their problems once and for all, and offered no further explanation. Heather knew the aftermath of unleashing such a powerful biological weapon would be catastrophic. Not to say that Heather’s small town in Ontario would disappear with no signs of existence. Just then, the door flung open, Heather’s
September 11, 2001 will be remembered as one of the most horrible and unbelievable days ever experienced in the United States. It was a great Tuesday morning in New York and people were doing their normal routines. There were two World Trade Centers in New York that people worked in. They were all doing their regular jobs as every day but their ordinary day became something they had never expected. Out of nowhere in the sky came a jet and it headed directly for the North Tower.
This source features a report by Jill U. Adams on the dangers, and current regulations of air pollution and climate change. Holding a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Emory University, the author primarily writes a health column for the Washington Post. She has also been featured in the magazines Audubon, Scientific American and Science. Because this article covers climate change, there is an inherent liberal bias. However, this bias coincides with irrefutable scientific data proving the existence of climate change. The audience for this article is anyone effected by air pollution and climate change; just about everyone. This source upholds my speculation that human beings have a significant effect on the climate. Before reading this article, I wasn’t aware that 55 million people a year died from air pollution. I found this source on CQ Researcher while searching for ‘pollution.’
April 15, 2013 for Nichole Bushdiecker was like every other day, but for others it felt like the end of the world. She was coming home that day from school when it came time for her to get caught up on her social media like she did everyday for the past few months of school. Everyday was the same old stuff, pictures of a field full of living plants with the sun rising in the background or a group of happy friends that took a picture after practice. That's when she saw it. Time stopped and she was at a stand still with her thoughts. “I remember I was a senior in high school and it was a normal day up until I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a picture that said ‘Pray for Boston’ and that’s when I knew something terrible had happened”.
On September 11, 2001 the United States was changed, and from that change the citizens decided to come together. On that faithful day, the Twin Towers, and the Pentagon were attacked by terrorists. Many, many people lost their lives and/or loved ones. This day also taught the people a lot, and the people realized they still had a lot to learn. Law enforcement and fire department officers faced the biggest hardship in decades.

After one year, the effects still remain the same. Several citizens lead to cancer because of the bad environment or the toxins in the air. People around the area don’t know what to do with the environment, they’re afraid to go outside.
A bright, yellow sun smiled down from a picturesque blue sky, as a slight breeze made its way through the maze of skyscrapers in New York City on a cool Tuesday morning. Who could have guessed a morning as benevolent as this could be a source of such inexplicable cruelty? This particular day in September of 2001 would change the world forever. Without warning, an explosion rang out. A puff of black smoke bellowed upward from the north tower of the World Trade Centers. An unpleasant silence ensued. As the bystanders below tried to make sense of what they had just seen, a woman let out a bloodcurdling scream, then another did the same, and then another, until the sounds of the individuals blended together to create one indistinguishable cry of fear.
Memories of the past has influenced many of the early traditional historians in creating their ideas of early Texas History. Personal narratives passed on to historians became the foundation for many of the early writers in developing an early identity for the state. Unfortunately, many of the early histories supported and primarily Anglo culture and a Top-Down approach to history. Most of the early history was written relative to the Anglo viewpoint and biased opinions. Fortunately, many underrepresented cultures now have a voice and the capabilities to provide personal accounts and history as passed down within said culture. Now, new historians can use personal narratives and memories from within other cultures to validate or
The shock of September 11 was communal to all those in the United States. No one specific individual could have assumed that a disastrous event like the crashing of the twin towers would have transpired. With the aid of the media the American population received every detail of the manifestation in entirety. To the nation this event was so catastrophic that cities and corporations shut down. New York, Washington, and other major cities closed down. The government, businesses, airlines, amusement parks, recreational events, and restaurants even closed or postponed the events planned. This incidence was so astonishing to the nation that Wall Street and the Stock Market even shut down for several days. The nation was in great distress and the media swooped in to take hold of their perfect opportunity to contort the information reported to the American people.
For all the global oversight against bioweapons, this threat remains especially pernicious. A unique aspect of bioterror is that it can be difficult to tell the difference between naturally occurring disease and accidents, and an intentional attack. For this reason, a biological attack would require a huge level of coordination among federal, state and local public health and security officials. In addition, bioweapons do not have to be naturally occurring – toxins and deadly organisms can be produced in a lab. Growing large amounts of an agent is possible, although equipment, space, safety, and technical knowledge all play a role. The threat is that creating a bioweapon often requires techniques that are already published in scientific literature. Additionally, the equipment required is somewhat easily obtained, since it is required for legitimate research. This creates a perplexing “dual-use” problem, wherein it is hard to create restrictions against bioweapons without inhibiting industry.
I am a Vice President of company with the name' "Technology Systems" specializing in computers and peripheral equipments. Two years back, we decided to do a merger with one of our competition as the global recession had a crunching effect on our business and the only viable solution ensuring sustainability was this merger. A lot of question arose while we were going through the planning phase. I was asked by the board of directors to work out the plan entailing this merger as I already had a similar experience in my last organization. I couln't help not separating this phase of my life from the one that I encountered in the past. What Kiet De Vries, said about people being prisoners of their past, seems rather true now.
In the morning of September eleventh, two-thousand and one American citizens and visitors, public safety officials, hospital staff, and every other person in the world woke up from their beds expecting a normal day as that of September tenth. People were driving to and from work, getting their kids off to school, grabbing their coffee, and resuming their activities of daily living. At eight forty-six in the morning American Airlines flight eleven struck the North tower of the World trade center, which would collapse at ten twenty-eight. Three minutes past nine, flight one seventy-five would crash into the south tower, and fall one minute before ten am. Flight seventy-seven strikes part of the pentagon, which causes damage and death. Finally at three minutes past ten in the
I remember the day just like it was yesterday, the pale color and coldness of her skin. The sky was clear blue, soft, with a touch of red, and the trees seemed stiff in their bright green shade. The wind was blowing with its humid dry air. And All I could do was stand silently in disbelief, caught up in my own thoughts and calm as I ever been. Wondering what I could have done differently to change the course of time, life had taken us upon. Since that very day a chunk of my heart was ripped away, and broken into pieces… “Oh how I miss her so much.”
