For my book talk I chose the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton which I absolutely loved. I think it is a great book for young adults. I really grabs your attention and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. For my boom talk I tried to keep interest of ny class by talking loud and using expression to grab their attention. And by using some bigger fun words to get them thinking and to get them excited. Also try to not sound so panicked and nervous because I really don't like public speaking. As I was speaking the while time I was trying to use my self right in order to get the audience to pay attention and really get interested. I would use facial expressions to show them how i felt about and get a feeling for my emotions. I would keep a good tone of voice by using different tines of voices to not sound boring and monotone and also to set the mood of where I was going. …show more content…
I would get a good nive even pause after sentences and at the appropriate time. I would try and keep a good speed although it was hard at times because I got nervous but I would keep it at a good pace so I wasn't moving to fast so everyone could understand what I was saying and graso the concept. I wouldn't go to slow tho so it doesn't feel like I was repeating myself. I mostly would try to emphasis or make an impact on key word or phrases to give the class an idea and understanding of the point I was trying to get across. Also not to let them miss out on any interesting or important facts or words. I would try to keep eye contact with the class and not focus on one thing. I would look around the class, seeing everyone one and keeping a good perifial. And I wouldn't look at the floor or the wall or something i
This was something I was concerned about because when rehearsing for my speech I was worried the points were unbalanced but during the speech I did not feel like I spoke more about one topic than the other. I think it helped that I recognized this during rehearsing, so I was conscious of it during my presentation. Another thing I think I did well was my vocalized pauses. My um's & and's. Although I am aware that I still used vocalized pauses, I think it was a lot less frequent than in my first speech. I could definitely improve on a few things for my next speech. I feel that for my next speech I could improve on being relaxed and calming myself down. I need to remind myself I know what I am talking about and not get so tense and shaky during the presentation. Also I need to work on my eye contact. I looked at the crowd, but they were glances. And short ones. I need to extend my eye contact length and width. I need to focus and not reading from my cards and holding the eye contact for longer than a
When it comes to me teaching in a class I will do my best to be as flexible as possible. When teachers can not adjust to make the classroom great for all of their students the classroom is no longer a great learning environment. In order to make sure that the students have everything they need to help them to fully develop, I must become a great observer. In my class I will make sure that I get to know all my students personally. That way I can know their strengths and weaknesses. I will help them to strengthen what they are week in and make sure that I have the tools necessary to do
Briefly describe the classroom setting in which you are assigned and any requirements or expectations that might affect your planning or delivery of instruction.
Sports movies are knows as blockbuster movies. Sports movies are know for there monologues. A monologue is a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or as part of a theatrical or broadcast program. Coach Gary Gaines, in the movie “Friday Night Lights” has a speech called “Being Perfect”. “Being Perfect” is a very powerful, emotional, and motivating speech. This speech is not your normal locker room speech. “Being Perfect’s” purpose is to inform the players and others that it doesn't take much just to feel good about yourself.
Secondly, I think I need to improve on my transition. This is important, because it helps tie my speech together. Thirdly, I need to use more positive visualization. Before starting my speech, instead of thinking "I'm going to be terrible out there" I need to imagine myself getting tons of laughs while presenting with the
Public speaking is something that I enjoy. Being able to talk to many people at once and having them get to know a part of me is something I find interesting. With me enjoying speaking to people I found myself running for the Associated Student Body (ASB) president my senior year in high school, I was the secretary previous year. Knowing that with the position of being the president of the school I knew it came with having to be very social not only with my fellow ASB team but with the entire school! However, that was the least of my problems. I knew that in order for me to run for the position having a speech to present to the former ASB president and administration of the school was mandatory. Writing speeches have never been my cup of tea. I have always winged it, mixing my personality into the core of the message I was trying to deliver seemed to always work for me. I worked on the main points I was going to present, had a few lines that I knew I was going to follow but the rest I knew would come to me when the day came. It was the day for everyone running for office to have their presentation ready. Because I was running for the highest office that was available everyone who applied for a lower/ different position went first. Starting from the lowest office of being the freshman representation moving all the way up to the president. Because I was one of the last to present I had an advantage of
I ensured whilst I made my presentation that I spoke clearly and steadily. I have a tendency to talk quickly so I paid particular attention to controlling the speed of my voice. I also ensured I maintained eye contact with my audience and tried not to focus just on one individual.
Have you ever read The Outsiders book? I have and their is an interesting topic within it. The topic is over whether or not Ponyboy should live with his brothers or be put in a boys home. I believe he should get put into a foster home , but do you?
Public speaking used to be a daunting task that I would try to avoid as often as possible, often I would be the last to present a project and would refrain myself from having to read outloud. When I would speak my head would fill with thoughts of how other were perceiving me and how easy it would be to mess up. With this nervous mentality my speaking was stuttered and confusing.
I would take to strengths of my students knowledge to build on it. I would be sure to focus on the understanding and scaffold at all times to be sure that even though some students
If the audience seems to not be enjoying the speech, changes might have to be made. Presenting it differently, making it more enjoyable, and interacting with the audience are different ways to relate to the audience. According to Malcom Kushner, "... putting your needs and interests ahead of your own is a great way to make your audience relate to you." Things to self asses during the speech to see if the audience is enjoying the speech are: is the audience looking at you? Are they responding with their facial expressions?
I had told them why I was a creditable source and what my proposition was to subject. I believe my introduction for the speech was catchy and unique. I then told the audience what I was going to talk about, which was about what happens to a smokers’ body, secondhand smoke, and what the benefits are to stopping smoking. For my self, I noticed my improvement over my speeches through time. I see that I have done much better about staying in one place instead of crossing my legs over each other, like I am trying to trip myself.
Throughout life we express ourselves through words. The way we present ourselves through speech says a lot about our character. The way one speaks to others can jeopardize the amount of respect and trust others have for them. From the way one pronounces a word to their posture can affect the way an audience interprets what is being said. Personally, I am not confident with my speaking skills at this point. I would like my audience to fully comprehend the concepts or facts that I would present to them. In order to do so I must improve my speaking skills I believe that a problem most people, including myself, have when giving speeches is facing an audience. Just looking out to an audience of a mere ten
For as long as I can remember, public speaking has always been one of my greatest weaknesses. Whether it’s a simple in-class presentation or a speech in front of an auditorium filled with people, I can barely get my words out from the anxiety and
This public speaking course has taught me alot by helping me to become a better person and by growing me into something I never thought I could be.Speaking out loud always made me nervous, even when I was just reading a sentence from a book to some of my closest friends. Even though we are not even halfway through the school year, I have learned and improved so much. One of the first things this class had taught me was all about body language and how to present yourself to make an impression. Little things that we do can make us seem small, such as slouching, crossing our arms and legs, and looking at the ground, while others make us appear big, for instance, stretching, sitting up straight, and taking up alot space. Properly presenting yourself is important and can make a big difference in your life, whether it is for a job interview, meeting new people, or speaking in front of your peers. I have also learned to control and overcome my nervous habits, for example, playing with my hair, rocking back and forth, and moving my hands. Habits like these show the audience that you are nervous and it may turn their attention away from your speech and onto your actions. The audience-speaker relationship was also a great thing to learn. This relationship shows cause and effect, for example, when you lose the attention of your audience you may begin to second guess yourself leaving you to becoming nervous and self conscious. You then may start to panic and your speech may become a
