The Outsiders Book Vs Movie

The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.

The novel of The Outsiders is better than the movie. The novel gives more vivid details than the movie does. Even though the movie shows actual image, the novel lets you have your own image of what’s going on. The movie did not show the part where Ponyboy was getting jump. That is where most of the conflicts started. It also didn’t show the part where they were at the court, which is a really important part in The Outsiders. The feeling and tension are more intense in the novel than it is in the movie. Over all, the movie is not better than the novel.

The “OUTSIDERS”, a book and movie, portrays a small gang going through hard times. The Book and Movie may have the same plot but have small yet noticeable differences. Both stories take place around Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. These should be compared to show why sometimes movies get things wrong and why the book tends to be better, in this case they both stick to the plot with only a few missing or added details, such as the book is slower paced but has more detail, the movie misses or adds small details, and the movie destroys your thought of what characters look like.

The Outsiders book and movie are the same but also very different to. These are some of the similarities I saw in the movie and book. It generally goes across the same idea/lesson that we are all the same rich,poor, or average. And that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, like some greasers are mean but some are nice, and how some socs are mean and some are nice. Also in the movie and the book they also both explain how johnny’s home life was harsh and brutal were no one in the home cared or loved for him. Also that Pony,Darry, and Soda were living them three, because of their parents dying in a car crash suddenly. It also shows that the greaser are like family nothing can break them apart, and they trust each other with their lives and love and care for them more than some of their own parents care for them. For example, the book and the movie are both in the form of first-person, Johnny also stays the same for the most part. Another example includes the main contrast between the book and the movie which is, that they skipped over quite a few key scenes from the book in the movie. They are similar in this way, however, their differences are seen due to the groups of people involved. This invokes the idea that the stereotypes that each group carries influences actions made. Both films tackle the idea of carrying two different ‘-isms,’ the main characters acting as the middle ground for separate reasons, and the police’s view and treatment of each individual group. The racism and classism presented in the stories is the biggest driving force behind the actions of either group.

The movie and novel both share similar qaulities in many way”s .The “Outsiders”movie and novel are both gruesome and sad .After finishing both movie and book they are actually somewhat similar .

Another similarity between the book and the movie is when the church is burning, Ponyboy runs to save the kids trapped inside, and Johnny follows. Also, in both the book and movie, before Johnny dies from his injuries, he says to Pony, ”Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.” However, the book and movie are different as well. First of all, in the book when Dally takes Ponyboy and Johnny to Dairy Queen, they all go inside and eat. But in the movie, they are eating in Dally’s car outside of Dairy Queen. When comparing both mediums of “The Outsiders,” they both portray the story and main points of the book differently creating advantages and disadvantages for both. The novel has many traits that the movie doesn’t have, such as details, the ability to use one’s own imagination, the backstories of characters, the personalities and emotions of different characters, and isn’t held back by time constraints. The movie confines you to one point of view, the director’s. A person isn’t allowed to see the characters as they would like to, and must picture everything the way the director of the movie saw it.
