the objective measurement of 151 beats per minute. Based on the variation in the normative range and the fact that the objective measurement is below the predicted measurement, your maximum heart rate is also within the normative range. It is important to understand what maximum heart rate means and how it can vary from person to person, because it is commonly used to create exercise prescriptions. Martina, your overall cholesterol measurement of 172 mg/dL is below the recommend upper limit of 200 [1]. Additionally, your HDL (high-density lipoprotein)-cholesterol measurement of fifty-six mg/dL is also within the normal limits, which are defined as a reading greater than 40 but less than or equal to 60 mg/dL [1]. Your LDL (low-density lipoprotein)-cholesterol reading is extremely close to being below the recommended limit of 100 mg/dL: your reading was 101 mg/dL [1]. The recommended levels are the values at which your risk for several diseases is minimized. Your triglyceride reading of 78 mg/dL was well within the normal limit of less than 150 mg/dL, but your glucose reading was indicative of prediabetes. The Balke treadmill test was used to estimate your maximum VO2 measurement, and to determine your aerobic fitness percentile. Based on your time and the chart corresponding to your age on page ninety-three of the ACSM guidelines book, your VO2 maximum would be about nineteen and a half milliliters per kilogram of body weight per minute of oxygen [1]. This is the
The results showed that the hypothesis was wrong, even with the resistance that came with the YMCA testing, the Heart Rate was still the lowest and depended on the subject. Subject 1 highest Heart Rate was 128 at a time of 16.46 minutes, with the Rockport Test. Subject 2 highest Heart Rate was 120 at a time of 6:00 minutes, with the Astrand. Also with Subject 2, the highest Heart Rate was 124 at a time of 6:00 minutes,
The definition of VO2 is the maximum rate of oxygen consumption measured during incremental exercise. The definition of METs is the ratio of metabolic rate during a specific physical activity. The relationship between METs and activity are, the higher the MET level the more calories that are burnt and the higher METs the more intense the activity. The more Oxygen consumed during a VO2 maximal test, the more carbon dioxide is being produced, this raises the RER, RR, HR etc. A warm up before VO2 testing and a higher MET activity are important. A warm up will prime the body to make sure you are ready for the activity. Then , when you perform you must have a cool down to help lower your heart rate and replenish oxygen from the strenuous activity. Comparing my VO2 (48.8) in a national standards chart, I am in the 75th percentile. Using METs and Max VO2 is very helpful in making a program. You know what level of MET activity the client can withstand and you can control the intensity. Also, having HR zones, points where lactic acid build up starts and a plethora of data at your fingertips to manipulate in order to better train a client.
Good evening Mr. Brown your test results came in and we found out that your Triglycerides are 145 mg/dL, Cholesterol 210 mg/dL, HDL 33 mg/dL, and LDL 160 mg/dL. Normal triglycerides means there are less than 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) which you do have which is great. A desirable level of cholesterol would be Below 200 mg/dL, and borderline high would be 200-239 mg/dL so because your cholesterol level is 210 mg/dL you are at borderline high. Ideal LDL level for people at very high risk of heart disease would be below 70 and a high level would be 160-189 mg/dL your LDL level is 160 mg/dL therefore it’s high. The best HDL
Tommy shows you a recent blood test report in which normal levels LDL and triglyceride are
During last Friday’s class, we under went the Rockport Walk test to calculate our VO2 max. The VO2 max is the measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense, or maximal exercise. It is measured as milliliters of oxygen used in one minute per kilogram of body weight. The Rockport test is a common test for those individuals with a low fitness level and it is good for large groups because only few materials are needed to run the test. Moving towards my data, after entering my height, weight, age, age, heart rate after walk and my time it took for the mile into the equation for my VO2 max. My VO2 max came out to be a 54, which based off of table 12.6 is above average for
The results of the study showed that the VO2 max test on the treadmill was greater than the VO2 max test on the cycle. This could be because subjects are more comfortable on a treadmill compared to a bike. Subjects had more to say about his or her soreness on the bike, making the subject feel fatigue faster during the test. Three subjects completed the VO2 max tests back-to-back days, leaving the subjects feeling sore from the first VO2 max.
Hi Mr. Brown how are you today? On today`s visit we will be going over your cholesterol panel we receive back all your test results for your cholesterol levels. Your triglycerides levels are at 145 milligrams per deciliter. Your levels are under the normal range of 145 milligrams per deciliter, which is good because your levels are under the high borderline which is between 150 to 199 milligrams per deciliter. This is great that your levels are normal Mr. Brown because Triglycerides are a type of fat known as lipid that’s found in your blood. When you eat food, your body converts any calories it doesn 't need to use right away into triglycerides. The triglycerides are stored in your fat cells. After the hormones are released into triglycerides for energy between meals. If you eat more calories than you burn, then the calories like fats and carbohydrates, can cause you to have a high triglycerides result. So basically, Triglycerides help in the digesting process and breaking down the fats in the food we eat. The results for your cholesterol level are 210 milligrams per deciliter which is borderline high considering, the normal range for cholesterol levels are less than 180 milligrams per deciliter. Since your body has to have cholesterol to make Vitamin D, your hormones, and it also helps with the digestion of the meals you eat. See cholesterol is like a wax, fat like substance that is found in the cells in our bodies.
The average LDL cholesterol was 93.4% in both groups. after one year of randomization, the mean LDL cholesterol was 69.5 mg/dlfor the simvastatin monotherapy and 53.7 mg/dl for the simvastatin/ezetimibe group. P-value 75 years old) with history of ACS and diabetes.
Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is a health-related component of physical fitness defined as the ability of the circulatory, respiratory, and muscular systems to supply oxygen during sustained physical activity (Lee, 2010). Maximal oxygen consumption, VO_2max, is one of the most shared ways to measure a subject’s CRF, because it is the measurement of oxygen the subject consumes while doing vigorous exercise. VO_2max is expressed in milliliters of Oxygen, per kilogram of body weight, per minute (ml/kg/min). Setty stated that, VO_2max “is the gold-standard method of cardio-pulmonary and muscle cell fitness” (Setty, 2013).
The correlation coefficient between an estimated VO2max and an actual VO2max is 0.93 and the day-to-day variability is less than five percent. The standard error of a test estimating VO2max can range from a low of 2.5 percent to a high of 5-6 percent of the mean score for an average person. It can also be extended up to 8 percent in aerobically trained men. In that respect, an individual could be expected to vary by about 2 to 4 ml•kg-1•min-1 then, even when they are tested weeks apart. VO2max is exceedingly consistent, even over four months, having an average coefficient of variation of 4.3 percent. This information and research led me to my hypothesis that submaximal prediction equations accurately predict actual
A higher level of fats in the body puts the patient at higher risk for Cardiovascular diseases(CAD). The patient's' family has a history of CAD. Her mom and one of her sister have CAD (Lewis et al., 2014, pp. 733-734). The patient states that she has been taking her meds for cholesterol atorvastatin regularly. Her lipase level was 8272 on 11/11/16 and 2829 on 11/12/16 U/L 1069 on 11/13/16 (Ref range 73-393 U/L). Her HDL cholesterol level was 21 ( ref range>49 mg/dl), LDL Cholesterol level 148 ( ref range: <130 mg/dL). Patient statin drug was on hold because it is contradicted on the patient with an elevated level of ALT 80, 61(Ref range 0-50 U/L) and AST 61 on 11/12/16 and 64 on 11/13/16 (ref range 0-45 U/L). The uncontrolled level of could be the cause of concern for stroke or acute myocardial
Determining VO2max can be important for not only elite athletes in enhancing performance but also the general public in maintaining good health and well-being.
From lab 3.1 I gathered that my estimated VO2max was 25.92 ml/kg/min and according to the chart in the textbook that is a very poor score for someone of my age and gender. Essentially, the maximum amount of oxygen I can utilize during high intensity workouts is very low and confirms my current poor cardiorespiratory health. The muscular strength and endurance lab results, calculated by the maximum bench press, push-up, and side bridge test, showed
VO2 max is the maximum oxygen intake during a high intensity exercise. The test is typically done on a treadmill, or cycle ergometer. The VO2 max test reflects the aerobic fitness of the test subject and the endurance the subject has during prolonged exercise. The subject who are fit usually have a greater VO2 max, and can exercise for longer periods of time than other who are not physically fit. Pro athletes usually have a higher VO2 max because they train hard in order to be physically fit.
