The Notebook: Love in the Low Country In the opening credits of The Notebook, it is dawn and the image is of a person rowing along a creek in Seabrook, SC. The creek beds are lined with tall seagrass and trees and the water is quiet. This is how much of the area looks in what is known as the Low Country in South Carolina. The climate is humid temperate with no dry season and hot summers, also known as Cfa. The movie shows good example of the hot summers and humid temperatures. It also features a quintessential love story between two people from very different upbringings. Cyprus Gardens is 170 acres of forests, gardens and 80 acres of Bald Cyprus Swampland. This land was originally used as a fresh water reservoir for the Deal Hall Rive Plantation. Later is was dredged by a new owner to accommodate local duck hunters. The next day Ally’s mother shows up at Windsor Plantation to tell Ally that Lon has followed her to Seabrook. Ally’s father had told him about Noah. Ally’s mother then tells her about her young love before she met Ally father. She was able to relate to Ally’s situation. She gives Ally every letter that Noah had sent her and she leaves. Noah is at the house waiting for Ally. He asks her what she is going to do and Ally is very confused and says that she doesn’t know. Noah asks her to stay with him but her confusion makes her drive off. Ally returns to the hotel and confesses to Lon. Lon admits that he loves her but he doesn’t want to convince his finance to be with him. Ally tells Lon that she knows that she should be with Lon. The movie goes back to the older Ally and Noah and Duke asks Ally who she chose. Ally then realizes that the story is their story. Young Ally then appears at Noah’s doorstep. She chose
