At weddings, lots of silk and bright colors are worn. Girls wear big, bright dresses with lots of multi-colored beads. Men wear bright color tunics and pants underneath . At funerals everyone wears dark colored berkas made of velvet. At Rundako men wear woven grass skirts and blue body paint. They also have mini cymbals of wood for the dance. Women wear a woven grass dress decorated with blue beads and jewels. During The Awakening, everybody wears their everyday clothes, but decorated with jewels and bright colors. The Messenger Leader wears a large tunic with a heavily decorated headdress .

The style of this artwork is African textile African textiles are used as historical documents. Because cloth recall a certain person, event, and even a political cause. Traditionally textile has been used to convey important cultural information, and played a role in festivities and ceremonies. Comparing this to another piece of work we learned in class would be Justinian and attendants. In that artwork, you can see Justinian robe and how it’s a different color which is purple. The Anasazi were known as the ancient people who civilized from 100 B.C to 1300 A.D.. They lived in groups called Pueblos which is Spanish for village. The Anasazi were also known for being able to survive on dry land with little resources. Because of the dry lands, there was not much materials to build their buildings with so they used Adobe. Adobe is sand and straw that is mix together and they shaped into bricks. As far as food goes, they also learned how to grow crops on the dry land. They would use tactics like planting the seeds as deep as they could to make sure the seed got as much water as possible. Many of the early pueblos were built on flat topped hills called mesas. The Nation of Islam empowered many blacks in a time and place where the concept of power was used to oppress. Christianity being a white man’s religion in the eyes of the oppressed, Islam was used in America as a tool for confirmation of beauty. The reminder of inner beauty for the people of color caused substantial growth and powerful movement that impacted American history for generations. The same principles that hoped to empower and give freedom towards African Americans is the same principles that continue to mask the beauty of the Muslim woman. How can two oppressed groups of people, blacks and woman, find two very different outcomes when practicing the Islam faith? Recognizing the differences between the Nation of Islam and the other sects of Islam faith, there is still a center focus on self identity and living into that mold. For some, that means taking back what has been taken away from them, freedom. For others, it continues to mean denying inner desires for something greater than following social norms.

Last but not least is a religion that has about one point five billion followers and is the purest of the western monotheisms, Islam. Most of the people who follow Islam are located in Indonesia. The meaning of Islam stands for submission, in Islam people are too submit themselves to God. Islam is monotheistic because they believe in one God, which Allah is believed to be “the God” while a man named Muhammad is Gods prophet. Muhammad was known to spread the message of monotheism while many people were still polytheistic. He fled to to a city called Medina to escape persecution.
