In 1845 John O'Sullivan argued that it was indeed America’s destiny to head to the West and spread their democracy there (O'Sullivan). He believed it was “God’s will” to spread westerly (cc#17). Also many citizens believed America didn’t have enough land and were onboard with the idea of Manifest Destiny. Even though it was thought of a positive idea, the result turned out bad not just for Native Americans and Mexicans, but right back at America. Manifest Destiny had many negative affects on the Indians.
