The Myth: The Ringss Of Saturn

All of the three articles have some compare and contrast how each source gives information about Saturn.

Saturn is unique of all the planets, adorned with thousands of beautiful ringlets and has 63 moons with confirmed orbits. Fifty-three of the moons have been named, with Titan being the largest and the only one with an atmosphere. Saturn is mostly a massive ball of hydrogen and helium, much like the planet Jupiter.

They are similarities. All have dates and facts. For example in “The Mysteries of Saturn” it states, “in July 2004 the Cassini spacecraft entered Saturn’s orbit and began to collect valuable information” In “Cassini Mission” it states, “in December 2004 a probe was dropped into Titan’s atmosphere. Then the leader began gathering data.” According to the illustration the first picture of Earth, Mars, Venus, and Saturn together was taken by the Cassini in 2013. All of this information was gathered using improved technology.

Many scientists predict that for many years from now, most of Saturn's moon will be sucked in and be part of its ring. At one point in time there will be no moons for Saturn since they have just evaporated.. If this keeps happening, the moons of Saturn will disappear and turn into the planets ring. Enceledus is the sixth-largest moon of Saturn which discovered by William Herdchel in 1789. Three spacecrafts contributed the main discovery of the Enceledus. Voyager I spacecraft found that Enceledus has a high albedo and is orbiting inside the E ring of the Saturn at the highest density point whereas Voyager II spacecraft observed that there are at least 5 type of terrain on the surface such as crater terrain, young terrain and so on. Cassina spacecraft discovered water-rich plumes venting from the south polar region which approved that the Enceledus is the source of the E ring and is able to create life. In addition the environment on Enceledus is perfect fits in all the chemical requirements for life existence.

Apollo, the god of many things such as medicine and music, was great at making music. Many people knew not to mess with Apollo. There are multiple myths about him. He was a favorite of Zeus, The god of lightning and hospitality. Apollo would help Zeus with mortals that messed with gods and especially with Zeus. He would also help Zeus with tasks such as talking with gods with disobeyed Zeus and the gods and goddesses in total. Zeus also helped him with tasks and favors like helping him with music.

Being a large planet, Uranus' mass is the equivalent of 15 Earths and has a radius of 51,118 Kilometers. Uranus also has 13 rings made up of a frozen waterline material and dust. The planet’s rings are darker than Saturn's rings and have larger rocks within them. They are about 38,000 Kilometers away from the planet's core. The rings are tilted as well.

The Ring of Gymes myth assumes that human beings are more prone to commit injustices when no regulations and punishments are put in place. As I expected, people have different views on such subject. For example, my youngest coworker’s opinion on the matter is that people are born unaware of distinguishing what is just and what is unjust, so they learn to be one or the other in relation to society. For instance, she agrees with the fact that human beings would easily commit injustices if they could, and it is only because of the laws put in place by our society that many people behave themselves. A symbol in “The Hobbit” is the One Ring. Rings normally symbolise eternity, and longevity because a circle has no ending, but the One Ring symbolised both good and evil characteristics, like power and commitment, but temptation and having no control. In the story, one example of someone who had no control was Gollum, the corrupted hobbit. Gollum started out as a nice hobbit named Sméagol, but he inadvertently found the One Ring and became addicted to it. He had no control over what he was doing, and was tempted by the ring’s power and kept on using it.

The Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that spread through Europe during the eighteenth century, which involved a radical change in the way that philosophers and others understood the role of reason. It valued independent thought and promoted reason to a higher status and for some came to replace faith. Intrinsic in Sebald’s work is the idea that the Enlightenment project was programmed by violent distrusts of the non-identical and a coercive desire to eliminate otherness. Scientists have found that the Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago by collisions in the giant disc-shaped cloud of material that also formed the Sun. As gravity slowly gathered this gas and dust together into clumps, it became asteroids and small early planets called planetesimals. These objects collided repeatedly and gradually got bigger, building up the planets in the Solar System. Although scientists are very close to answering the question, they still continue to search for the exact answer to how the Earth was created. With all the evidence presented, it is hard to refute from scientific theories. This becomes cumbersome to many religions because in their eyes God has always been the creator of the Earth.

Within a narrative, the foundational text can assume great power by implicating strong contextual components, such as imagery. On the other hand, images themselves offer words that do not have to be written. However, every author is unique in how they choose to narrate and they must be unbiasedly treated as so. To compare the differentiating styles that can be found in narrative, this essay will attempt to analyze the relationship between image and text in Sebald’s “The Rings of Saturn”, and how either allows the reader to evoke similar emotions.
