Hannah is very important to the plot of the novel because if she had not kidnapped Janie form her parents, there would have been no plot. Janie would had never been kidnapped without Hannah and Janie and her both sets of parents would not have experienced the feeling of being separated from their

Unable to resist, Jaycee was dragged into the car, covered with a blanket, and driven to her kidnapper’s hidden backyard where she would be held captive for eighteen years.
Hannah has experiences in the story that change her. In chapter three, Hannah drank watered down wine for the first time. Hannah also got drunk. “ Uncle Sam poured another quarter glass of wine into her glass, then filled it the way with water for the next blessing.” this was on page 16. This experience is a huge role in the story because it causes her to fall asleep and have to crazy dream. Another quote is when Hannah says “I'm not Chaya.” On page 34, “I'm from New Rochelle. And I'm not Chaya, I'm Hannah’ When Shmuel’s eyebrows rose up and lines furrowed his brow, he looked so fierce Hannah moved back a step” Rivka explains to Hannah that she was sick and probably forgot. Hannah has many experiences in the story that change her.

One evening he gave a speech to the townspeople saying how grateful he was for the help of everyone to create the town. One of the towns people asked if Janie could give a speech but joe said, “...mah wife don’t know nothin’ ‘bout no speech-makin” ( Hurston 43). Janie could have possibly given a speech if she really wanted to, but she never

When Janie's Nanny was aging and felt her life ending, she saw Janie maturing quickly and she thought that it would be only proper for her to have a man for protection after she leaves. After Janie was told this, she immediately didn’t want to accept it, but she did anyway. At age 17, she was married with the man named Logan Killicks who was 50 years old. Logan was a lonely man before he met Janie, the only thing he had to offer for her in marrying Janie was his protection, and a 60 acre potato
First, Janie, the main character, starts off living and being taken care of her grandmother, Nanny. She later grows up to become married, but their relationship is not genuine because her grandmother wanted her to marry the man. Janie meets a man called Joe Starks and they run off to a town called Eatonville where Joe becomes Mayor and blinded by his power. He becomes violent and domestically abuses Janie. Joe would be manipulative and isolate her from the rest of the town because she was "high-class." They live on to become older, and he eventually dies due to a sickness he needed to have checked two years earlier, but it was too late.
Janie is a highly believable character due to her being so self-determined and authentic. She is a very complex character who has many strengths and weaknesses. Janie’s strengths are evident in her determination to live life on her own terms. She overcomes leaving an unsuccessful arranged marriage, an abusive marriage, a natural disaster, and the death of her loving husband, Tea Cake. After Janie decides to return to Eatonville, the narrator states, “She called in her soul to come and see” (Hurston

In The Face on the Milk Carton, by Caroline B. Cooney, the theme is the decisions that people make can affect their lives and the lives of others. An example of the theme, "They wandered around the campus, talking about what college would be like and how they yearned to live in dorms and be away from the confining rules of their parents. Janie was lying. College terrified her." Reeve said, "My parents and Guidance think I should take a postgraduate year, repeat some of my high school subjects to get better grades, and go on to college." this shows that they need to make many decisions in their lives. Page:58. Janie, the main character, is a good student and she gets straight A's. She also never misses school. Reeve, her friend, is shocked
Janie’s first home was in Rural, Florida, she lived with her first Husband Logan Killicks. Her first home gave her the realization of how you can’t force yourself to love someone. Logan was a bad husband to her; he abused and disrespected her all the time. She was miserable living with him, she only married her because she was expected too by her grandmother. Logan only used her for work and even called her a mule. For example “Come and help me move this manure pile befo’ de sun gits hot. You don’t take a bit of

She soon discovers that is not what happens. Janie runs away to discover herself, in spite of her self awareness she also finds herself running off with a younger man abandoning her safe home and husband for something in which she does not know how it will play out.
Where: The story takes place in Harlem, New York. The settings are at the subway, the school, the brother’s childhood home, Isabel’s home, the narrator’s home, and the nightclub.
This theme is very important in real life. I feel this way because if you don't step in and help some one who you can see is going through a rough time will always remember, and will always also remember if you help them. As seen in the book, Hannah remembered everything that contributed. I feel this story will help people change how they think.
