Dyer (2013) stated that the leader must communicate with the team in regard to the purpose and goals of the meeting because the approach of sharing the purpose and goals would increase team’s awareness and knowledge. Also, leader should create a meeting agenda to prepare the team because the agenda of the meeting will guide them to focus on the subject and will enable them to execute a productive meeting (p. 67). For instance, the agenda should be structured based on the objectives and goals of the meeting and the topic of discussions must be organized in the sequence of importance to ensure a significant issue and concern are covered at the meeting. Simultaneously, the agenda enables the team to control time of the meeting by implementing time limit per topic to make sure all significant topics are covered. Additionally, establishing agenda is important because it enables the team to refocus on the objective if the team discussion stray away from the objectives in the agenda. Similarly, the next step is that leader and team members should be able to identify with the event that the team discussion deviates from the original subject at the meeting then the team can conform to the agenda. Furthermore, the outcome of the meeting should be summarized and disseminated to the members of the team for their action. The leader should make a clear statement that anyone in the team can initiate a meeting as long as it would improve team’s performance. Thus, all members of the team
It is essential that there is effective communication to build an effective team. Effective teams need to work well together and that team cohesiveness depends on building strong relationships among team members. Communication is crucial and is driven by the team leader who will work with the team to establish ground rules and work to bring the team together so that it can accomplish its goals. All teams will go through expected stages of development, from forming to storming to norming and eventually performing according to Tuckman. Navigating through these stages effectively will help teams build relationships which in turn improves communication. Effective team communication can lead to both personal and professional development. Some examples of good communication are the holding of regular catch up meetings, active listening (by management and team members), regular feedback, clear vision and goals. In contrast to the above poor communication skills can have an adverse effect on team working. If team members are not communicating amongst themselves then
Catherine is like a bird trapped in her cage. Many things are going through her mind. She's asking herself many questions. How will I get out? Or why am I even trapped?
A meeting agenda ensures that the meeting will be a productive use of everyone's time. It can focus the attendee’s efforts and provide a structure to accomplish the meeting purpose. It defines outcomes, and important information, attendee roles and responsibilities and a meeting timeline. It allows attendee’s to prepare for the meeting as it is made available a week before. It also works as a checklist of those attending, goals and topics for discussion to make sure that all the necessary information is covered and keeps team members focused on the specific goals and stay on track with the subject matter.
An effective agenda sets clear cut expectations for what needs to happen before and during a meeting. It allocates time wisely, helps members get ready and be prepared, quickly gets everyone on the same topic and determines when the discussion is done. A well-designed agenda increases the team’s ability to effectively and swiftly address problems and fix them as they occur.
The topics discussed by Northouse, Kouzes, and Posner are team leadership. Team leadership are work units that have are interdependent and share common goals (Northouse,2016). In this week?s unit, team leadership will be explained through the Hill Model for Team Leadership and how it applies to team effectiveness. Furthermore, virtual and non-virtual team will be compare and contrast and how to create cohesiveness. Team leadership theory is the key to developing success high performing teams.

Examining how students can greater develop their leadership potential has come to the forefront of education, education based athletics, and intercollegiate athletics in recent years. Recent research by (Grandzol, Perlis, Draina, 2010; Forrester & Borsz, 2008) has shown that those who are put into a role as a peer leader tend to develop leadership skills. Those individuals in peer leader roles have benefited from the opportunities they have been exposed to in those roles. In the summer of 2011 Dr. Christina J. Grandzol published a study entitled “An Exploratory Study of the Role of Task Dependence on Team Captains’ Leadership Development.” This study focused on 31 NCAA Division III team captains. While being a peer leader has been shown

has a hard time communicating effectively with each of the area/team leaders and this can make it hard for them to know expectations and informational components in general. She said that sometimes the higher management has restricted views of goals and they tend to put too much focus on that rather than on the employees. They are working on this by trying to establish more of a connection between the management staff and the team leaders and making sure that communication is always open between the two so that employees don’t feel unappreciated or lack motivation. Although I did not suggest this to her because I am not in a position to do so, I thought that a good strategy for this issue might be to create weekly newsletters for all of the staff members in which higher management would indicate how the staff is doing, things they need to work on, etc., just to keep the communication open. I realize that it is not always easy nor does a daily schedule allow for one of the area leaders to have a lengthy conversation with higher management, so this would be an easy way of providing feedback and fostering collaboration efforts. She told me that along with some organization weaknesses the Y is trying to work on and resolve, there are also a few different issues currently being faced by the organization.
First, we need to established clear guidelines of acceptable boundaries in meetings in order to avoid disruptions in the upcoming meetings. For example, the steps that will need to take in place are to be able to listen to each other while in meetings to be able to process the agenda and focus on main points we need to work on. The techniques will be to practice active listening and structure the process of in-put and out-put comments while covering the agenda. To minimize the risk of this type of challenges is to be able to re-direct the dialogue to the purpose of the meeting.
Positive leadership is important for effective team performance. Everyone needs to work together and be focused by supporting each other to achieve shared goals. It is very important that each member of the team is clear on their roles and responsibilities. Staff should have respect and understanding for their manager. The manager needs to be aware of the skills and the weaknesses within the team and be able to provide support when necessary. Training and support improves staff performance and develops confidence and team spirit.
Captains of sports teams are given the stereotype that they are the most athletic player on the team, scoring the most goals and handling the ball best. In truth, captains have a lot of work they have to do that doesn't even involve playing the sport. Captains are the most looked at player of the game; other players, younger kids and coaches look to them to set examples. They have to set examples in every aspect of the game; athleticism might be part of their job but it is not limited to it. The captain of any sports team must set the leadership standard for commitment, confidence, intelligence, and attitude.
Racial equality means different things to different people. Often people aren’t aware that unconsciously they have developed preconceived ideas about race and equality. Ethnic groups, who’ve not experience race as an issue, don’t feel it’s a problem that needs addressing. However, identifying some of the characteristics of bias behavior based on race or ethnicity is the first step in minimizing the problem.
Currently, in the 21st century, we face a multitude of problems regarding the safety and well being of our environment and ecosystem as a whole. For hundreds of years, people have been creating energy, unaware of the irreversible damage and the harmful effects it can have such as climate change and the greenhouse effect. Because of this, people have begun to stray away from the burning of fossil fuels and now rely deeply on renewable energy sources such as sunlight and wind. But with all these more modern ways of manufacturing energy becoming increasingly much more popular, nuclear energy has controversially become an option for many areas in the United States and also the world. This form of energy production has various different advantages such as its proficiency against fossil fuels and low pollution. Despite this, nuclear energy, in fact, is more harmful to the globe as it has many safety concerns and creates issues of where to dispose of nuclear waste.
