God came to Gideon the son of Joash the Abiezrite. God tells him that he is going to lead His people and defeat the Midianites. God also tells him that while he is leading the people he will not die during battle. Even though Gideon heard the from God, and had faith, he still was not convinced and positive that this was true. Multiple times Gideon asked God for sign. An angel of the Lord came to Gideon and told Gideon to bring him a present. Gideon brought a kid which is a young lamb. This kid was most likely cooked already for his own meal. He had the kid in a basket and also brought broth in a pot and brought it to the angel of God. The angel then told GIdeon the lay out the flesh and pour out the broth. The angel then touched the meal with His staff and a fire consumed it. GIdeon was still not satisfied. One night he asked God to have dew dampen a fleece only and the ground over night. When he woke up, he was able to wring out water from the fleece, enough to fill up a bowl. He still was not satisfied. This time he asked God to do the opposite. He asked that the fleece be dry and the ground wet with dew. Celebrated Cases of Judge Dee is a translated Chinese mystery story of a judge who investigates three murder cases. While he is solving the cases he sometimes used dreams, fortune telling, and ghosts to help decided on the case. According to the preface, “The law permits the judge to put the question to the defendant under torture, provided that there is sufficient proof of his guilt.” (Judge Dee, p. XVIII). When Judge Dee is in the process of solving the cases he uses torture to get a confession out of all the suspects he interrogates. Since the Judge is using ghosts, dreams, and fortune telling for ways to help him decide the case, it is possible that he will torture an innocent person. A concern for the common people is that he

Judge Thomas's past has created the conservative view points he now holds. Growing up in Georgia, his family did not have his father around since he left at a young age. After a fire left his family homeless he was sent to live with his grandfather. Clarence Thomas learned the life skills he needed and eventually had the dream of becoming a priest and working in the religious community. Dealing with racism at his boarding school he eventually canceled his dream of being a priest and wanted to work in law, even though his grades were exceptional. His rough upbringing caused him to believe only certain laws should get changed, such as the laws of civil rights. Judge Thomas has the passion for the equal rights of all minorities. Upon attending
The U.S. Constitution was written in 1787, and even though it was made so long ago, it still serves as the basic framework for our country today. It has lasted with only twenty-four Amendments made to it in the past 228 years; an amazing feat in within itself, considering that the first ten were made within the first five years of having the Constitution and two others cancel themselves out. As well as the large changes made in formal Amendments, there are also small changes made that redefine these words. There are court cases that have arisen in the past and continue to rise up today that can lead to both major change and just tweaks to the rules and principles delegated by the Constitution.
Gideon did not waste any time in prison, spending most his time reading about the constitution and his rights. Soon after Gideon wrote into the Supreme Court for a release, for violating of his constitutional rights, even though his lack of intelligence. Gideon was not a rich man and believed anyone has the equal right on an attorney for a fair trial. The constitution
Texas judges with the exception of municipal judges are on average elected in partisan elections which means candidates are listed to show their political affiliation on the election ballot. In the cases where a vacancy is present the governor will fill the position with whom he chooses which happens often enough to possible cause a political party imbalance.
United States Supreme Court cases are argued and decided on Constitutional grounds. All arguments and decisions are based on interpretations of the original Constitution and, more often, on Constitutional amendments.
When selecting judges in Texas many first get their start when they are initially appointed by the Texas governor. Though this usually happens to fill up any vacancies that there may be on the bench (Champagne and Harpham 257). Aside from being appointed by the governor, most judges in Texas get selected to serve by Texas voters. These elections are known as partisan elections, meaning that the judicial candidates’ political affiliation is listed on the ballot. Party affiliation is one of the most important factors in judicial elections. Before 1978, most judges were Democrats due to the state being largely Democratic. In addition, the governor of the state was usually a Democrat and would usually end up appointing Democratic judges (Champagne
In the State of Texas, we have a rather odd way of selecting which judges will and will not be able to have a job in the State of Texas. The way we select them is the same way that we decide who is going to be the governor of the State of Texas, we elected them. There are many flaws with choosing election as the way of picking who will be judges. Some of the flaws are that there will possibly be a lack of minority chosen, voters tend to know little to none information about the local election let alone the candidates up for judges, and finally people contributing to campaigns. While few people know that this how we elected judges in Texas, but even fewer realize the consequences the will continue to pile up if we do not do something to put an end to this ludicrous way of choosing an influential position of office.
Driscoll (2012) describes Samson as the last and most famous of the Judges who presided over Israel. He was born during the forty years of Israel's delivery to the Philistines as a result of abandoning God. His first special trait was that he was somewhat of a miracle, being born to a barren woman in the tribe of Dan. An angel appeared to let her know that he would deliver Israel from the Philistines. So Samson's fate as hero to his people was decided already before he was even conceived.
