The Super bowl is one of the biggest games of the entire football season in the United States. This is where companies battle to gain a spot during the half time special and tend spend the most money when it comes to advertising. These ads can cost up to 5 million dollars and are usually highly creative, funny, created to catch the watchers attention with the hopes of going viral and selling their product. What the viewers do not understand is that these companies are selling much more than a product, they are selling a feeling and/or a lifestyle. Nationwide, the popular insurance company happened to be no different when creating their most polarizing and heart wrenching commercial. With the commercial most popularly known as “boy” their main goal was to start a conversation about preventable childhood deaths in America but, in reality they were selling fear and death in order to get parents to purchase insurance. The way that they provoke these emotions are through certain colors, music clips, images, and events and objects that happen in the background of the commercial. For those who have not seen “boy” the commercial follows through the magical imagination of a young, brown haired, bright eyed boy. The first scene pops up with the boy riding his red tricycle with his group of friends and chocolate lab beside of him in the local neighborhood. They are moving much faster than he is and ends up leaving him behind even though he is shouting for them to wait for him and cuts
Emotional Appeal was used in the commercial too. The 3 dogs were cute and funny in the way they tried to get the doritos. The music is also entertaining
Just caught the tail end of the Steelers win in the Super Bowl against the Cardinals, shown on the NFL Network. It's hard to convince me that the throw from Ben and catch by Santonio Holmes is not the best ever. Especially, under the circumstances. To win the Superbowl on that play, still amazes
In 2009, arguably one of the best Super Bowl was played in Tampa, Florida. This game featured the AFC champions Steelers and the NFC champions Cardinals, in which the Steelers prevailed 27-23. As any football fan could tell you the score of this game was not a low one at all. For the cardinals to put up 23 against the Steelers number one defense was shocking. Even more stunning, was to see the Steelers offense generate enough offense to put up 27 point. The Steelers offensive game had been struggling throughout the season, but their hard hitting, alert defense made up for it. Yet, this game is no joke a tam cannot win if any part of their game is slacking. Knowing this the Steelers came out ready to play. This game wasn’t just a high scoring
Simplicity and repetition helps the pigs gain complete control by covering up the pigs lies and convincing the animals that they do not need humans. Propaganda is most efficient when it is a simple catchy slogan or a word repeated over and over again (Stults). Napoleon teaches the sheep four legs good, two legs bad to know their friends from their enemies (Orwell 34). For example, “Once the sheep got it by heart, the sheep developed a great liking for this maxim, and often as they lay in the field they would all start bleating, Four legs good, two legs bad!” (34). If the humans can not be trusted, then only animals can be trusted which means the smartest animals should be the leaders which are the pigs. Through simplicity and repetition the pigs teach even the dumbest of animals this slogan. Second, Squealer repeats “Tactics” a number of times to conceal Snowball is the creator of the windmill design (58). Squealer conceals who the original creator of the windmill is by “repeating Tactics, comrades, tactics!". Although the reader knows Snowball created the windmill, the animals believe Napoleon created it because right before they began asking questions Squealer repeated tactics a number of time to confuse them and get their minds off the subject. The pigs can confuse the animals easily by using simplicity and repetition. Furthermore, Napoleon ends most of his speeches with “Long Live Animal Farm” to make the farm animals think he wants Animal Farm to succeed (64). For
Super Bowl 51 is amongst one of the greatest Super Bowl games in NFL history. The league's top scoring offenses clashed Sunday with both teams having neck and neck winning odds. 4 time Super Bowl champ Tom Brady was a human god in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Coming back from the largest deficit the Patriots served out 25 unanswered points against the top scoring offense the Atlanta Falcons. The patriots were down by a very unexpected 21-3 score at halftime. Tom Brady didn’t look himself at all. He was throwing many bad passes including a staggering pic 6 that was returned for 82 yards. After that any momentum the Patriots had was gone, the Falcons were all smile and cheers going into halftime strong.
The NFL was founded on September 17, 1920 and was known as the American Professional Football Association (APFA). It was renamed in 1922 as the National Football League or NFL. In 1920 there were eleven football franchises to form the first professional football league compared to the 32 teams that form the league now. The original teams are: Canton Bulldogs, Cleveland Tigers, Dayton Triangles, Akron Professionals, Rochester (N.Y.) Jeffersons, Rock Island Independents, Muncie Flyers, Decatur Staleys, Chicago Cardinals, and Hammond Pros. Jim Thorpe was elected as the league's first president. In 1970 NFL's rival league AFL merged their schedules and formed two conferences in which the AFL became AFC and NFL became NFC.
Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company’s Super Bowl advertisement, “#makesafehappen” released on February 1st, 2015, has received negative attention because of its morbid yet practical depiction of a young boy who has passed away due to a “preventable accident” before experiencing the life in which a teen or young adult would otherwise. The advertisement also uses the death of a young child to appeal to parents; especially the mothers, largely using pathos to raise awareness of deadly accidents which could otherwise be preventable. Logos and ethos, although weak in this advertisement, also raises awareness on preventing avoidable accidents.
Guess what else is turning 50 this year besides RMS… THE SUPER BOWL!!! Super Bowl 50 will be held in California at the Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers. It will premier on Sunday February 7th 2016. The Super Bowl has frequently been the most-watched American television broadcast of the year; the four most-watched broadcasts in U.S. television history are all Super Bowls. The first ever Super Bowl winner in 1966 was the Green Bay Packers against the Kansas City Chiefs! Most football fans love the Super Bowl’s halftime shows. Katy Perry set the stakes extremely high last year. This year’s performers will have a tough time topping her act! This year performing at the halftime show
Super Bowl 51 was a hard fought game on both sides. The two teams that competed were the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. These teams were both top dogs in the regular season and in the playoffs too. Each team had some dog fights in the playoffs, but nothing like this. The score of the game went up and down like a rollercoaster with one exciting event after another. The game was a gripping excitement to the end.

While it is currently unknown whether there will be NFL in 2011, the massive NFL roster is going to need to accommodate the six months of downtime with other activities. You can only practice football so much without playing an actual NFL game so here are some suggestions for NFL players during the potentially cancelled 2011 season. Try out for American Idol: The Super Bowl and American Idol are two of the most watched shows on television and with the potential canceling of the Super Bowl, why not add some of the NFL's biggest stars to the biggest reality show in the USA? Imagine watching Peyton Manning rocking out to Lady Gaga, Brett Favre singing "Pants on the Ground" again, or Randy Moss singing some Backstreet Boys. Instant success. Restart
In the last five years, either an NFC West (Seattle twice; San Francisco) or NFC South (Carolina Panthers; Atlanta Falcons) team has represented the conference in the Super Bowl. However, as divisional powers shift, we could see a shakeup in the NFC during the upcoming season. With the NFL Draft completed and training camps beginning, let’s look at the NFC teams that could represent their divisions in the 2017-18 playoffs.
From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year’s debateable Auburn national championship winning team, college football has always had difficulties deciding national champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice opinion on which teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has stimulated more controversy in college sports than Cal-Stanford “The Play.” The problem with the BCS teams is, it chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. The BCS is in need of replacement by a playoff system because with a playoff system college football teams have more of an opportunity to show themselves.
The NFL has become the most popular sport in the United States. It is watched my millions every weekend. The NFL is only growing in popularity. With new fans joining the fun every day. The NFL has faced its share of problems too. With concussions scaring away many future players, the NFL is hoping to lower the possibility of concussions in the future. Each NFL team plays a total of 16 games over a span of 17 weeks. There are two conferences in the NFL, the AFC and the NFC. There are four divisions in each conference, each with 4 teams. The playoff teams are decided by the division rankings. The winner of each division makes the playoffs, with the two best 2nd place teams making it in as a wild card.
Transformational leadership is something I have experienced as both an employee and manager. So I relate to this style and I recognize the possibilities within. However, this style of leadership is not easy in today’s workplace. This is especially true when you try to be positive to employees who display negative attitudes all the time. So this can be challenging for some managers. In this paper, I will talk about transformational leadership as part of the future of management. I will try to elaborate more on why not every manager can be transformational. Yet, I do believe and support this style of management. I believe it can be learned, but I also believe it is not born within us. Transformational leadership is ideal for management today
