The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria also known as ISIS, was formed in April 2013 out of al-Qaeda. ISIS is being lead by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, born in Samarra, north of Baghdad. In 2010 Abu became the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq which later became ISIS . ISIS have become one of the most advanced terrorist groups known. Having multiple sources of income for money and weapons, have made it hard for countries like the United States to put a stop to this organization. Matthew Levitt, director of the Stein Program on Counterterrorism and Intelligence at the Washington Institute called Isis "the best-financed group we 've ever seen." (Bronstein). ISIS is now known as the most financed terrorist group because of its massive amounts of money generated daily. ISIS have been funding its organization in multiple ways. By selling stolen oil, taxing goods sold, extorting citizens, kidnapping for ransom, wealthy donors, sales of antiquates, Iraqi banks, sales of other looted property, real estate, foreign fighters, agriculture, phosphate, cement, sulfur and human trafficking. ISIS make about $986,000 a day by taxing citizens for all goods and services sold such as water and electricity services, also by extortions such as charging at check points in the roads, forcing citizens to make a "donation" to ISIS for every withdrawal made. Kidnapping for ransom generates ISIS about $123,000 a day. Wealthy donors such as businessmen, wealthy families and other donors from Saudi Arabia,

operation of hijacking two aircrafts and flying them into the Twin Towers in the heart of Manhattan. Another Muslim who has influenced the terrorist organization of Isis is Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi, whose real name is Ibrahim al- Badri. Baghdadi was credited with creating the Sunni Army, recruiting men to becoming members of Isis, and known as a “highly organized and ruthless battlefield tactician” (BBC News 2015). Also, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi was one of Baghdadi’s forerunner’s, and influenced one of the most violent jihadist groups in Iraq until he was killed in 2006 by an American air raid. He was one of the world 's most wanted men and had a huge impact on the extent of violence Isis would eventually start to use. It’s hard to say who is in charge of Isis because there are multiple Muslim men who have the intelligence and rankings to assemble the organization.
ISIS obtains such a profuse amount of money that they are wealthier then several actual countries. ISIS has grown from a violent growing cell to a violent growing state. But fighting a war to establish a caliphate is expensive, especially when the U.S is trying to flip the bill. According to some estimates, they have placed Isis’ income to 3 million dollars per day. The Government has begun to examine and understand how ISIS raise their money. Isis has revenue coming from multiple areas such as: capturing cities, capturing oil feeds and refineries, as well as donations. Surprisingly, a majority of their funds come from ransoms, kidnappings and, unorganized crime extortions.
ISIS is located in Syria, Iraq, Jordan and other parts of the Middle East. The group’s methods are exceptionally brutal. The group began very different form in 1999. Al-Qaeda and ISIS are very similar but different and share a lot of history. In July 2012 Iraq Reopens Notorious Abu Ghraib Prison as Baghdad Central Prison this is called the great ISIS prison break. One chapter of the story of ISIS’s rise that very rarely gets mentioned: spectacular series of attacks on Iraqi prisons in 2012 and 2013. This prison break supplied it with a huge infusion of recruits, ISIS took advantage of the Iraqi government’s weakness. People for all types of crimes were recruited. ISIS won rapid infusion of man power. April 2013: ISIS officially becomes ISIS-
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, better known as ISIS, is a terrorist group with the intentions to generate fear among people by committing acts of terror. Their short term goals are to inflict fear into the eyes of the world, along with attracting Muslims from various countries for its self-proclaimed cause (Wood). Their long term intentions are to overthrow the all other governments and establish an Islamic culture based only on Sharia law (Wood).
The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, commonly known as ISIS, has frightened the whole world by committing attacks in the Middle East, Paris, and San Bernardino, California. ISIS claims to be the legitimate ruler of all Muslims and it operates the Muslim world. ISIS was able to expand as the result of local groups conflicts with Western interests. Daniel Byman declares that local groups are attracted to ISIS for genuine conviction. Particularly, young men believe that ISIS is the defender and avenger of Sunnis worldwide. On the other hand, some groups join ISIS for accessibility to financial and technical aid. While , ISIS grows beyond Iraq and Syria, religious intolerance is created. The group delivers its religious beliefs by barbarian acts, such as beheading and rape to intimidate their enemies and obtain supporters.
Today’s current leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has considered himself the caliphate of ISIS. He was a former member of Al Qaeda which was a small terrorist group that combined with other small terrorist groups to become of what is now ISIS. Baghdadi wants to create an Islamic State in which shows the real roots of what it means to be a Muslim. To accomplish these goals, ISIS has been involved in serval criminal acts. According to the article, “Why Is Money Still Flowing into Isis?” by The Editorial Board, they state, “Extorting civilians and businesses has brought in hundreds of millions of dollars, they say. Despite American efforts to cut of the group’s oil revenues, the most recent estimate is that ISIS earns about $40 million a month selling oil from fields in Syria and Iraq…” (The Educational Board). This has caused ISIS to become powerful because they even teach the little ones how to behead their teddy bear so when they are older they are able to be behead an actual human. These brutal attacks have harmed hundreds of lives that the world has come to the assumption that we have to safe innocent lives that run in danger of harm daily. In recent events like the Paris attack it shows how cold hearted this terrorist group
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is a terrorist organization on the United States’ Foreign Terrorist watch list that has been able to successfully recruit both homegrown volunteers who stay with U.S. borders to commit terrorist acts on behalf of the organization, and foreign fighters who leave the United States to join Arms in Syria. Since March of two-thousand and fourteen one hundred and eleven individuals within the United States has been charged with offenses related to ISIS, fifty-eight have pleaded or were found guilty. The Islamic state of Iraq and Syria started as a rebel organization that has rapidly gained territory within Syria since 2014 and has proven to be somewhat revolutionary. From its ability to attract thousands of volunteers across sovereign state and international lines, to its resilience to sustained U.S- lead bombing campaigns and its regular spectacular acts of violence. (Kalyvas 2015) Although ISIS was not the perpetrators of the September eleven attacks, they have earned a number one spot as an international threat to many countries due to its ability to recruit homegrown extremist and foreign
Today, many people suffer from their doings. The ISIS was established in 1999. The ISIS was founded by Abu Musab al-Zaraqawi. ISIS attacked the Shia Muslims and their establishments first. The group received seed funding from Osama bin laden and swore allegiance to it in 2004 and changed its name to Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI).
In modern history ISIS has become more menacing than they have been in the past, but here is the history of how ISIS became who they are today. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was an al-Qaeda recruit who climbed the ladder and eventually became the leader of ISIS in its early stages because he challenged the leaders of al-Qaeda: Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. This quote exemplifies ISIS 's unconventional start, "Who could have imagined that a movement founded by a man [who once worked in] a video store in provincial Jordan would tear off a third of the territory of Syria and Iraq, shatter all these historical institutions and—defeating the combined armies of a dozen of the wealthiest countries on earth—create a mini-empire?" (an anonymous former Western official recently in The New York Review of Books). Unlike al-Qaeda where leadership and pyramid operation were standard, Zarqawi implemented a crusader-style of dominating with all his men leading. Because of the fact that Zarqawi thought the
Since its successful terrorist activities have drawn supporters, a large portion of funds come from several wealthy supporters. In addition, “a large portion of the Nusra Front's resources comes from overseas, including weapons and explosives”. (Jabhat al-Nusra 2010) These weapons are sold to other terrorist organizations for profit to the organization. Currently, there is no shortage of supports for the Al-Nusra Front cause.
Their have been terrorists and terrorist organizations before, but, ISIS has been the most focused of terror groups in a long time. ISIS is one of the most dangerous terror organizations in the world, founded in the islamic state of Iraq. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi founded ISIS in 1999. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was a soldier in another terrorist group named Al Qaeda. In 2004 al-Zarqawi established al Qaeda in Iraq. Al Qaeda had a lot or armies focus on them for a while, but ever since, ISIS came in wreaking havoc, blowing up public and religious sites, decapitating victims, crucifying people and doing public executions. All the attention was taken off of Al Qaeda for a while. He was soon killed in an airstrike attack in 2006. The current leader of ISIS, Al
Successful nations allow conflict to arise within and outside of the nation. War is the offspring of such political intercourse. The intention to gain power and control serve as enablers for national and international wars. Attaining power and control expand potential competition from a regional to a global level. The United States have involved itself in such terrorists attacks due to the desire to possess such resources, power and control. The Islamic State of Iraq also commonly known as ‘ISIS’, Salafi jihadist militant group that follows an Islamic fundamentalist is the offspring of such desire from the United States and the Western Hemisphere. America’s interest and influence for oil in the middle east gave birth to ISIS. The United States and the Western Hemisphere desire for power and control enable terrorism.
The splitting of al-Qaeda from ISIS was the beginning of ISIS becoming a pragmatic threat to Iran, and the rest of the world. The establishment of AQI (al-Qaeda In Iraq) in mid-2004 by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was the start of what is now known as ISIS2. In 2006, when al-Zarqawi was killed by the US militia, the new leader of AQI announced the creation of ISI (Islamic State in Iraq). In 2013, the leader of ISI, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, subsumed a militant group by the name of al-Nusra Front; thus creating ISIS3. Constant fighting occurred between members of the prior al-Nusra Front and the members of ISIS; ISIS had enhanced the old leaders tactics and began targeting more and more people.
The world is at war. You ask with who? Terrorism, to be more specific though they are called The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). They have a few other names as well, The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Daesh. I will choose to call them Daesh in this piece because these terrorists find it insulting. The reason for this is that Daesh an acronym for ISIS in Arabic. This acronym though sounds exactly like the Arabic word dais, which means something that crushes or tramples. “In recent months many Arabs and Western leaders, including Secretary of State John Kerry, prefer to call it Daesh, the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State. But Islamic State members hate the term because in Arabic, the pronunciation is close to a word that can be variously translated as "to crush" or "bigot who imposes his will on others" (Reid, 2). Daesh do not want this title and have threatened to cut out the tongues of people who use it. Daesh are a product of instability in the Syrian and Iraq region plus a Syrian civil war. Unfortunately, America is greatly at fault for the instability in Iraq and helped fund the Syrian rebels, so you could say the U.S. helped create them. Daesh’s goal is to start a religious war. They want the world to fear Islam and want them to hate it. They showed us exactly what they were capable of in Paris France. The world needs to realize that this is just a
