The Iraq war of 2003 is a blueprint of tyranny, which is full of controversial ideas, and works of individuals who believe that the United States of America is a crusader of freedom and democracy. And killing or unintentional homicide of substantial amount of civilians alongside with the targets of the U.S marines (Saddam’s armed forces) was a successful mission in the Middle East. An operation that was to be executed in a time limit, transformed into a war, which began in March 19th 2003 Invasion of Iraq dubbed Operation Iraqi Freedom, which got rid of Saddam Hussein’s Baathist government. And ended in May 1st 2003.
Realism is the preeminent theory of International Relations, as it provides the best explanation for what is going on today

The Iraq War began due to the many different reasons, depending on how one looks at the reality in the depths of its eyes. Mainly, the war started because of the armed conflict in Iraq. Prior to the war, the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom claimed that Iraq 's alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction – or simply WMD - posed a threat to their security and that of their regional allies. For this a combined force of troops from major counties such as the U.S, UK, Australia, Spain, Italy, Poland, alongside with other cooperating countries’ troops invaded Iraq and deposed of the Baathist government of Saddam Hussein which had been ruling Iraq from 1963. They ruthlessly ruled the nation for 40 consecutive years until their downfall. The invasion phase consisted primarily of a conventionally-fought war which concluded with the capture of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad by American forces (Dr. Rich Swier, 2014).
As mentioned before, the Iraq War is full of ideas that don’t quite match each other, most obvious ones are Realist and Liberal points of views. Realists and Liberals have different opinion about the war. However in order to understand their ideas one must first understand what each of them believe in. A famous modern realist John Mearsheimer identifies the realist point of view as such: “Realists do not believe that we live in a bandwagoning
The Iraq war was occurred in 2003 between Iraq and the Unites States. The United States invaded Iraq and overthrew Saddam Hussein despite not being backed by the United Nations because they claimed that Iraq had a WMD program and were linked to Al-Qaeda. However, no WMD program nor any direct links to Al-Qaeda were found. After the United States had occupied Iraq for a few months, Islamic extremist groups were founded. The United States goal of overthrowing Hussein was accomplished, but this was the incorrect time to overthrow him, as Islamic terrorist groups came in his place. The short-term effects of the Iraq war were the formation of AQI and the increased tensions between Shi’a and Sunni Muslims. The main long-term effect the Iraq War was an increase in worldwide distrust towards the United States. In conclusion, the Iraq War destabilized the Middle East by going against the UN security council and attacking Iraq, then finding neither a WMD program, nor links to Al-Qaeda, which were the reasons they invaded
On March 19, 2003, the United States along with forces from the United Kingdom, initiate a war on Iraq. U.S. President George W. Bush announced that American and coalition forces are beginning military operations to disarm Iraq, “free it's people and defend the world of grave danger”. President Bush believed Iraq, under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, had in their possession or were building weapons of mass destruction. The U.S. had given Saddam Hussein time to leave Iraq or face war.
The invasion and the war in Iraq remains a continuous topic of divisiveness and sensitivity in today’s America. One of the negative evaluation of the war is attributed to the false impression of the length of the war which lasted seven years, not six months as presumed in 2003. As the invasion initiated, the ideologies of American government then failed to perceive the large number of troops required, casualties and the financial toll in the interest of the preventive war doctrine. However, when weighing the failures of this war, there are successes brought home that relate mostly to the lessons the American military and the government learned with the use of counterinsurgency tactics after “winning the hearts and minds” of Iraqis (Young). Nevertheless, with evaluation through levels of analysis, the accomplished agenda of ending Saddam Hussein’s regime justifies success and failure, mutually.
The invasion of Iraq was held on March of 2003 and initiated the war of Iraq, the American occupation of Iraq has cost America thousands lives, thousand seriously wounded, and approximately $900 billion, and has negatively affected American interests throughout the world. The costs are not over. The 2003 Invasion of Iraq was promoted by America it was a polemical historical event in our society and around the world. Detractors against the war differed with the resolution of George W. Bush, President of the United States, to go to conflict with Iraq. While activists, pro-war supported his declaration for the invasion. Opponents of the invasion made claims that the war was a mistake “To invade Iraq without the U.N’s approval, because we think
Within three weeks the US led 49 countries into Iraq and overthrew the government. The Iraqi War has caused large controversy in this country and around the world. The real question is wether or not the cost of lives and dollars was worth it. Although Iraq may have posed a security risk to the US, the war did not provide substantial benefit and caused more financial issues and human expenditure. Outside countries say the War violated international law, killed countless, wasted millions of dollars, and made the US more vulnerable to terrorism.
The term of the ultimatum expired and Saddam Hussein ignored this final demand. Because of this attitude the president of the U.S did not longer seek compliance of the U.N decisions nor he sought any diplomatic effort, He gave Saddam Hussein and his sons forty eight hours to leave their country and go to exile otherwise he had to confront the attacks of U.S and it’s allies. Saddam Hussein response was demonstrating mocking contempt. The war broke out after forty-eight hours of warning to the Iraqi president to abandon his country. The beginning of this war culminated the prolonged years of the crisis of diplomatic negotiations between Iraq and the International Community. In my modest opinion, this war and their terrible consequences that continue until this day could be avoided. Saddam Hussein had so much overconfidence; I believed he did not measure his limits. History has shows that none wins in a war it sounds like a cliché but it is a fact, so many lives lost, so many lives destroy, a country that is not much better than before 2,003 and what was the reward of the war, I believe that none is proud
The Iraq War, also known as the Second Gulf War, was a long armed conflict that began in 2003 with the invasion of Iraq by a U.S. that overthrew the government of Saddam Hussein. The conflict continued for much of the next decade as an insurgency emerged to oppose the occupying forces and the post-invasion Iraqi government. An estimated 151,000 to 600,000 or more people were killed. The invasion began on March 20, 2003 with the U.S., joined the United Kingdom and several allies. Iraqi forces were quickly overwhelmed as U.S. forces swept through the country. Many violent insurgent groups were supported by Iran and al-Qaeda in Iraq. The United States responded with a troop surge in 2007. The winding down of U.S. involvement in Iraq accelerated
In 2003, the United States launched an aggressive full scale war against the Iraqi government in an attempt to overthrow the existing government. The United States justified the invasion by alluding to the fact that Iraq had continuously denied United Nation inspectors to investigate potential human right violations and the possible production of Weapons of Mass Destruction or WMD’s. The United States invaded Iraq due to the lack of information regarding the possibility of nuclear weapons in Iraq, and the promise the United States made to the global community to combat terrorism.
The Iraq War was in many people’s opinion a mistake, and I have to agree. There are many reasons for this opinion, debt of the country, war crimes, and rise in power of many terrorist groups.
From 1979 to 2003 Saddam Hussein ruled Iraq in a brutal dictatorship. The first action taken against Hussein’s regime began in 1990 when Iraq invaded and annexed Kuwait. In a coalition led by the United States, Great Britain, and Saudi Arabia, Saddam Hussein was defeated. From that point the United Nations imposed many sanctions upon Iraq. In 2003 President George W. Bush and the United States asked the United Nations Security Council to
President George W. Bush authorized the invasion of Iraq in 2003 citing that Saddam Hussein had been stockpiling weapons of mass destruction. In March of 2003 US led coalition forces entered the country and overthrew the Hussein regime. The conflict was very short causing some of the infantry units to not be used in combat. After the conflict ended many of these units were withdrawn from the country from lack of use. In the short term after the regime was toppled, there was still resistance from irregular units loyal to Saddam. A consequence of the early withdrawal of troops was the prolonged the need for American forces to remain in the country to end the resistance. The last of these combat troops were withdrawn in 2011 after eight
With the benefit of hindsight, many people consider the invasion of Iraq a failure. After the initial invasion of Iraq, things go worse instead of better within the country. Ultimately both the United States and Iraq payed a heavy cost due to Western intervention, which this paper will later discuss. The purpose of this research paper is to the Iraq invasion which includes the events leading to the invasion, the invasion itself, and the consequences. The purpose of examining the Iraq invasion as a whole is because a proper understanding of the event cannot be achieved without proper context. Actions have consequences, which this paper will explore. Although the invasion of Iraq took place in 2003, the first paragraph will discuss the country
In the article “ the decision to go to war with Iraq” Pfiffner explains how the United States of America made its decision against the regime of Saddam Hussein. With much media coverage focusing on the complexities and victims of the war, we may think that we have the specifics and details of this war; however, many of the details of this war were hidden and not shared with the public. Furthermore, disagreements in the international community and within the American public about the wisdom of war with Iraq were mirrored in divisions within the U.S.
The United States of America declared war on Iraq in the Spring of 2003 to free the Iraqi people from the oppressive rule of Saddam Hussein and to keep them safe, and to prevent future attacks from Iraq. Saddam Hussein killed, tortured, and raped thousands of people, especially those who opposed him. During the war the U.S. easily took over the capital of Iraq, Baghdad, and eventually found Hussein. Though the U.S. found Hussein there was still much to be accomplished in Iraq, but the most vital goal of the war was accomplish by the end of 2003.
The war against Iraq began on March 20, 2002, when the U.S lunched “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. This was after President Bush called Iraq part of an “axis of evil”, also calling the country dangerous which is threatening U.S with the world’s most destructive weapons. The major phase of the war began when U.S troops marched within 50 miles of Baghdad with heavy aerial attacks on Baghdad and other cities. After the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon which was believed to be the work of Al Qaeda, U.S was concerned about the security of the Untied States which lead to the war in Iraq. Even though U.S officials felt the war in Iraq is the main priority, but many people in U.S opposes the war which brings up a lot of controversial issues.
