Upton Sinclair was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 20th 1978. Sinclair grew up in a broken household; his father was an alcohol salesman and killed himself drinking. While his mother would not even think about drinking alcohol. So these personalities naturally clashed. So Sinclair found some solace in books, Sinclair was a natural writer and he began publishing at the young age of fifteen years old. Sinclair started off going to school at a small college by the name of New York City College. This was just temporary as Sinclair would need time and money to move higher up to a form of better education. As a future Social Service Worker, Theodore’s story taught me that the most vital skill is to come from a place of support and understanding of the individuals precipitating situation. As an advocate I would try to help clients face challenges through support, empowerment, validation of their perception and most importantly respecting where they are in the therapeutic journey to emotional emancipation.

Upton Sinclair wasn’t always known as a muckraker. He worked hard to make sure his writing helped people. He wanted to help people in poverty. What started as one article turn into a bestseller book. Although most people believe Lincoln Steffens is the best muckraker, Upton Sinclair is the best because his book, The Jungle, helped save lives.
The duties performed by social and human services workers are varied. They can work in a number of different fields including psychology, social work, rehabilitation, and support for families in need (BLS, 2012a). Often, they help to identify the needs of clients and help them obtain available benefits, community services, and programs. There are several other job categories that are closely related including rehabilitation counselors, psychiatric technicians, personal care aides, and eligibility interviewers for government programs (BLS, 2012a). I wish to pursue a career in the psychology and rehabilitation field of the human services category. This population is of great interest to me because of experiences with friends and family. I find this category of human services to be the most interesting and I have a strong desire

During my investigating of one most famous muckrakers; I found was Upton Sinclair whom I have had the privilege to get know. Sinclair has shown to be a very interesting person. Sinclair has had many challenges over his life time; from the articles and books he has written, reforms that he has set in place, makes this person very interesting. Upton Sinclair was born September 20, 1878 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was raised in poverty but his father worked as a liquor salesman, which gave him the chance to be around different types of people. Sinclair and his family moved when he was older and found himself growing up in New York City. He would tell me of some stories about loving the works of Shakespeare and Percy Bysshe Shelley, which at every chance he would get to read these works. Upton started college at a young age of fourteen and where he went to school was the City College

When set with religious morals established by society, a shocked Sinclair proves that he is still not creating ideals for himself, demonstrating that an individual needs to abandon the set religion and develop their own. Sinclair’s reluctance of accepting Demian’s suggestion to glorify a God that represents both good and evil instead of just good, shows that Sinclair still is following ideals set by his parents and school but not himself. Sinclair finds Demian’s idea to be surprising and radical. Surprising because the concept of looking at the world in two parts: good and evil, is something he has already realized hence the “Light and Dark Realm”. Radical because Sinclair still believes that there are actions and ways of thinking that are
