Caroline, Over the past week or so, we have witnessed wrongful actions by Americans on other American citizens throughout the country. There has been flag burning and even violence on the Ohio State campus which includes assault. You and I both agree that our country is split into two parts which is devastating and puts a pause on the prosperity of our country. With us working together, I definitely think we both want to use the holistic approach to try to find a solution for this problem. I do understand that everyone has their own ideas and beliefs, but at such a hard time like this, we need to be more respectful and welcoming to everyone's ideas. So, using the holistic approach, I would like for the nation and OSU students to find a middle ground of respect and maturity for everyone no matter who they voted for in the …show more content…
If we come together and discover our commonalities in a mature way, we can show Donald Trump that we are responsible enough to know what is good for the people of America and only once we come together, we can change America
It is time to put aside our differences and focus instead on what we have much more of: similarities. In his State of the Union Address, President Donald Trump said, “Tonight, I call upon on all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people. This is really the key. These are the people we were elected to serve” (Montanero, 2018). Though the division of our country is disheartening, we must maintain hope.
Violence, one of the biggest problem in the world right now, especially in America, where the gun control law are barely enforced, every citizen is at constant risk, considering the amount of people in this country that own guns. Crime and violence are rapidly becoming the prime epidemic in the U.S today, but what can we do to ensure our future generation’s safety?
The idea of unity is such an important aspect that it appears in the name of our country, “United States of America.” By definition, “united” means “joined together politically, for a common purpose, or by common feelings.” A group of people, most importantly, have to be united in order to achieve a common goal. This is further emphasized by Obama in his 2004 Democratic National Convention Keynote Address. He was chosen as the Keynote speaker for then-president-candidate John Kerry, who was running against George W. Bush, for the Democratic Party. In Obama’s powerful and inspiring speech, Obama stresses the importance of unity among the people in order for the “American Dream” to be achievable, by emotional connecting with the audience.
2017 is a rough year for the United States of America. In the center of racial divide, President Donald Trump is trying to keep the country content. Whether it’s protests all over the country ranging from racial discrimination, or players of the National Football League (NFL), nobody can just throw their issues aside and appreciate that they are living in the greatest country in the world and there are countries around the globe that live worse than us. Every country will have issues between the citizens within the country, but every person can do their part to help alleviate those problems. We must unite together to end the protests against the flag and the President as well ending discrimination between races.
Do you live in or ever heard about an area where there's gang violence, turf wars, shoot outs, and drug dealing? Well you can compare that modern day violence to some of the violent history of America. In this essay I will compare the troubling senseless violence of America today to the violence during America's westward expansion, and the war of 1812,
Structural violence is a big factor in American History. I would even go as far as saying the country that I live in was built on, and is ran by structural violence. In terms of race, politics, our justice system, and even our schools are all structured one way or another by some type of systematic violence. I do not believe that violence neccesarily has to be physical harm. It can be psycological, emotional, and even systematic harm. By systematic harm, I mean specifically in our justice and economic systems. The phrase "The poor just get poorer while the rich get richer" is a great example of systematic violence in my opinion. As a nation we tend to turn our shoulder to the visual and physical evidence that the police are targeting African

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” Aristotle. The world is better together, as a whole, than it is made up by each country individually, separated and fending for themselves, with no one support from one another. We are currently living in a divided world. Either divided over power, race, religion, and so much more. We read the news daily, wondering why we cannot accept each other and move forward. We wonder why we are all trying to win the “war of division” separately, not relying on other people that believe in the same thing we do. This “war of division,” despite the contrary, is one we have been facing since the start of our country. From the day we won our war of independence to today, we fight issues on our own, but what
Today I will be addressing some of the issues that are happening in today’s society and set a plan as to how we as Americans have to come together for the better and make a change. This country has grown tremendously in many areas since we’ve experienced our last financial crisis. During our time of crisis there were many doubters who said that we could not make America great again and stating that we Americans were misguided. I believe that we have proved them wrong with the growth of the economy and deficits being cut by two-thirds. This economy has touched so many lives through the rise of wages and growing job opportunities. The goal here now is to aim at working on common concerns such as the criminal justice reform, finding a cure and having more studies for those battling incurable illnesses, and protecting our rights as American citizens.
I assumed that the people would be more unified share a greater passion for electing a perfect candidate together. Instead, some people want to rebuild America and make it great by getting rid of public services, aid provided to the people, and individuals who help the nation. Some of the reasonings behind the people’s mindset are irregular. While some mindsets have a more appealing reason to why they stand for the values that are brought by their chosen candidate, there are others who have irregular or confusing reasonings. I can understand why some may vote or support their preferred candidate, but there are some people who I can’t quite grasp their perspective on the situation. To understand the situation better, I had to open my mind. Changing the way I saw the world and people’s thoughts, helped me have a better understanding of people’s reasons. I was able to understand that some people have angry and fear, therefore they want to change. People hope to see the future as a better place. The people don’t want the world to stay the same. I thought of the situation has made me think differently about people and the world. The future of the world will
Describe the trends of violence throughout the history of the United States. How do the rates of violent crime in the United States compare to rates of these crimes internationally?
Violence in America America is a violent nation. Many people think that America is full of freedom and democracy. Do these people actually see what happens in America? Do they see the violence in schools, the crime in our society? Most likely, no, these people have loosely seen our society, the violence and the frauds that plague America's history as well as the present.
Boom! Pow! The US is using force to get retaliation on countries that harm their own people. Military officials are fighting against countries that kill/harm their country goers. Some officials say we should act out on the violence. Others say that we should keep our noses out of other countries business. Using military force acts out on countries killings, just recently Syria bombed their own people. When we use this force it gives the government officials a piece of mind what we think about them killing their own people. This could save other and more innocent people from dying. Using this amount of force could save other people. Giving the government we just attacked, a new idea on what moves they should do next.
Let us study what violence really is, why we become violent, and what we achieve by that. Violence really means unlawful exercise of physical force, or it may be even verbal abuses. Now, let us analyze why we become violent; mostly it has been seen that we become violent when we do not get what we want, or what we demand: whether our demand is right or wrong is a different matter. Maybe, in this context it can be said that, at least sometimes, we do get excited and resort to violence without having enough reason or provocation. However, it is equally true that, sometimes, there really is no other way to present our demands.
The last distinction between Saratoga County and Bronx County is violent crime. The measuring for the violent crimes is through the amount of reported violent crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery in 100,000 people. Violent crime can cause people afraid to exercise outside, elevate the stress level in daily activities, and increase the prevalence of other related diseases (“Violent Crime-Description”, 2017). The data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (“Compare Counties”, 2017) addressed that, the amount of violent crime in New York City is 394, in the Bronx is 621 and in Saratoga is 80. From the interpretation of these data, the information can be understood that the amount of violent crime in Bronx County is higher than Saratoga County and overall New York City. Saratoga County is even much lower than the overall New York City. When it is applied to knowledge, a lower number of violent crime in a population, the healthier they will be. Consequently, Saratoga County is healthier than Bronx County.
