Talking to Michael Dash last Thursday allowed me to learn a lot about him. Michael Graduated from Stevenson High School in 2006. He took a break from school to focus on work. Primarily working at a family run sign company in Arlington Heights and he also makes extra money on the side by bartending. Some of the things he hates are cats, loud people and traffic. It doesn't help that he lives all the way in Chicago and has to commute to Vernon Hills everyday. Traffic is inevitable. During his commute to school and his soccer team in Licolnshire Pink Floyd usually helps keep him sane. He currently lives with his girlfriend and hopes to have a dog one day, preferably a mixed pit bull. Mike is a grill master and enjoys to eat ribs while watching
In the novel, Heat, Michael’s life is centered around him pitching in his favorite sport, baseball while Carlos works to pay the bills for the apartment. The author describes Michael’s passion for baseball as he says “Baseball was Michael’s real best friend” (Lupica 91). Knowing Michael’s love for the game, the main external conflict surfaces when Michael is told by his coach, that the commissioners of baseball decided that until a proper birth certificate is on file proving his age of 12, he is not eligible to play ball. After receiving this news, Michael’s attitude of never give up, stay positive, changed as did his life of being alone as Michael says, “He was more alone than ever now, without a baseball game to look forward to, not knowing if he would get to play again this year.” (Lupica 91 ) To resolve this conflict, Michael knew it was impossible considering the one person who could get his birth certificate was dead and no other family was around to turn to except his brother, Carlos, who had enough problems of his own just trying to make things work. However as much grief, this news caused Michael in addition to the many other dodging bombs he has had to overcome, Michael comes to a conclusion as to how to view this in a positive manner as he says, “Maybe that was the way you should go through life, if you really thought about it. Maybe if you

Did you know that before he was a professional football player Michael Oher had a very unique, underprivileged early life, and was born into a terrible circumstance? He says, “It's true that we can't help the circumstances we're born into and some of us start out in a much tougher place than other people. But just because we started there doesn't mean we have to end there” (Biography.com). Michael’s mom was a drug addict, and his dad was murdered in prison. He was in a bunch of foster homes, but when he was 16, he was taken in by a family named the Tuohy’s, which changed his entire life. Despite Michael Oher being a foster child, being split from his siblings and mother, and facing many more hardships in his early life, he still
Have you ever thought that lying can lead to despair? Ralph Myers didn't when he spontaneously lied about Walter Mcmillan. This is why honesty plays a bigger role in this novel: the character who decided to be dishonest resulted in innocent people going to jail and on death row. Not only did they suffer from the trauma, but so did their family and friends. In this compelling story, Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, the theme of honesty can be expressed throughout Darnell Houston.
Meet Michael. He’s twenty-two years old, has neatly cropped hair, and dons a fabulous pair of red glasses. At first glance, he’s mild mannered and polite, with a friendly disposition and toothy smile. But when the courts are swept, shoes are laced, and ball is in hand, Michael Wang transforms. Suddenly, it’s Lebron James spinning furiously to the basket. On other days, Allen Iverson dances into his infamous killer crossover as two defenders tumble to the floor. And when Kobe lines up at the three-point arc, everybody in the gym knows, it’s game time.

Though interest in taxidermy is one of Bill’s oddities, Mike also uses alcohol to chase a youthfulness that no longer exists. Throughout the group’s time in Pamplona, Mike is rarely sober. He allows his heavy intoxication to justify his poor treatment of others—primarily Robert Cohn. Mike’s insecurities surrounding Brett’s affair with nineteen year old Pedro Romero fuel his desperation to avoid sobriety, for Mike knows he cannot compete with Pedro’s youth, and sees drinking as the next best course of action. Though he believes staying drunk is a good plan, those around Mike see him for who he is: a man with a stuffed dog who childishly imagines that he is still

To begin, most people in my hometown know who Mike is. But I would bet that ninety-nine percent of those people don't know Mike's name. Mike is a homeless man who lives at the public library.
