The Importance Of Overcoming Poverty

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.” A good quote from Nelson Mandela, in other words stating that poverty is unnatural and inhumane, that was not accidental that the World Bank defines poverty as living on less than $3.10 per day. Stating that poverty could be overcome, but till this day after seeing so many leaders pointing it out, “Why do we still struggle with breaking down the bars of poverty?” Poverty is still going on in this world because it is just simply functional and helps to keep the world going. The reason why it is functional to keep a poverty class in new jersey is because of social mobility, health disparities, and educational decrease. Social mobility help out a lot because it is an individual or group's ability to move up or down wealth, education, and occupation. If an individual's achievement can be rewarded it would be considered an upward social mobility which means high wealth, education, and a good occupation. If an individual's achievement can not be rewarded it would be considered a poor person in education, wealth, and a not so good occupation. The reason why it is good to have a decreased mobility in poverty is so that the people that are poor have kids, which then become poor and for that cycle to keep going so that a small percent of them become rich. They only want the rich to have it all because people do not want to be equal. It undermines the American Dream for the poor because the rich want it all to themselves. With them decreasing the wealth someone was coming with increased problems with health risks. Without the wages it is hard to make appointment for individuals that are sick or need shots because they just simply cannot afford it because the rich make it so expensive to make money off of something that should just be used as a mean to help someone. “ Public education is envisioned as the great equalizer of economic opportunities in the United States.
