Six years ago my father lost his job, which was the only source of income. He filed for unemployment and received pay to support us. My family could not keep up with the monthly mortgage leading to an important decision of whether moving out of state because it was more affordable. We decided to stay in California because it was a hassle to move. Another source of income was recycling cans and bottles. For example, my mom and I would wake up early in the morning to hunt for cans and bottles to later sell on. This struggle has assisted me focus on my future more because I do not want it to happen to me.
In March 2014 my father opened SD Cars and Trucks, a used car lot in El Cajon. He and his business partner put a total of 250K into the lot and the inventory. This depleted our family’s savings and has forced my mother, father, and myself to find supplementary jobs. Hardly ever home I rarely see my family anymore, due to us all trying to bring in income. Unable to afford the rent on our house, we had to move for the third time during my time in high school. In addition to this, my grandparents also moved in with us.
I struggled financially, career opportunity was almost nonexistent and when I wanted to move back to the “lower 48” as Alaskans call it I was told you can pay for the move, we are not
I feel like a personal challenge I’ve faced in my life was my parents getting a divorce. This affecting me by not having one parent but the other is rough throughout my childhood while seeing others growing up with both parents and seeing your lifestyle different from other children. But throughout time I’ve gain to know how even though not growing up with one parent was hard you began to gain more responsibilities and be more helpful with siblings as well with other future endeavors I tend to overcome with my success in the future of my life. Growing up with divorced parents wasn’t as easy as you would think it would be. For example I have faced plenty of obstacles such as seeing other children having spending time with their father and not
One of biggest unknowns I have faced in life would most likely be the time I moved to a different state for the first time. I was from a particularly hot state and that state was Georgia, to a colder state up north which was Indiana. Even though I live in Georgia know I am originally from Indiana and I moved from there when I was 2 months years old. I remember this summer because there was a heat wave that summer and my mom, my brother, and I were staying with my grandma who didn't have A/C.
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, however during my toddler years my parents moved the family between Florida and Ohio. When my father left my mom in Florida with three girls under three, with me being the oldest at three, my mom moved my sisters and I to Warren, Ohio to live closer to our grandparents so they could help raise us while my mom went back to school to get her Master’s Degree in accounting. I remained in Ohio until I was twelve, where I enjoyed nine years of growing up surrounded by my mom’s immediate and extended family. When the market crashed in 2007 it was hard to find work in the area we lived and as a result we moved to Springdale, Arkansas when my mom received a position at Tyson Foods, Inc.
Just recently, I found out I was moving to another state. Knowing I have to leave everything behind was awful. I was halfway through eighth grade, starting the second semester, and I was doing great. My grades were all A’s and I was happy there with all my friends, Amber, Marianna, and Makayla. Our house was decent, my sister and I both had our own rooms anything I would ever wish for. My dad had been promoted to another job, where he was going to get paid more than what he was currently earning. It was an amazing opportunity for my family. I was glad for my dad, but I still felt bad for myself.
The realization that one day I might end up in the same situation, made me want to work harder to have a fulfilling future for myself and also it made me want to take my health into consideration, because if I am not healthy I will not have the meaningful long-lasting life I wish to obtain.
Since 2001, when September 11th happened, various people in the United States have had a fear of allowing vagrants into the U.S. It went to levels of edge control and the sky is the farthest point from that point. Henceforth some judge that relocation is a danger to the U.S. They should not consider that in light of the way that everything that happens is not in view of pariahs, it is essentially "The Realities of Immigration" (Chavez, 46). The council can stop illegal relocation right now however would it not impact the U.S. more to do as being what is indicated? "Restrictionists ensure that enormous scale relocation legal and unlawful has demoralized wages, stacked government resources, and went about as a net exhaust on the economy" (Chavez, 47). In this way, if development was slaughtered, the U.S. would have less workers. With a diminishment of workers, money would be less thusly, realizing the economy to jump. People go to the U.S. to work and make a few bucks, why may the organization need to stop that? "If Americans would fundamentally cut their own specific grass, clean their own homes, and keep an eye on their own specific children, there would be no necessity for nonnative works. Nevertheless paying little respect to the way that this were real, the general economy would scarcely advantage from having less experts" (Chavez, 47). Without pilgrims, the economy would not stream effectively in light of the way that the masters enhance the occupations and economy.
My father struggled his whole life in order to provide for himself and our family. He worked his way up from being the destitute son of a ranch hand, to becoming a successful pilot and a supervising manager of production for Cessna. He provided a comfortable life for me and my family in the suburbs of Wichita, all the while working sixty hour weeks in order to continue his climb up the socio-economic ladder. However, despite his success and skills as a manager and pilot, my father was laid off in 2003, during Cessna’s period of extensive lay-offs. As a consequence, He was left with no employment and an increasingly dependent family.
In this article small states are almost over looked because of the way we elect our president. This way is called the electoral college where each state gets as many electoral college votes as it has members of congress. Which amplifies the importance of small states. I would support the electoral college system because it gives small states more of a voice in the way our country elects its Commander in
Upon hearing the man’s response, Greg felt absolutely delighted. Many antique dealers and shop owners were, understandably, interested in making large amounts of money from the items that they sold. However, when his new companion started to explain that he believed memories should remain housed together, Greg started to believe that he had found a kindred spirit. It was cruel, unusual, and unnecessary to separate objects that told a story. Especially in regard to memorabilia from a century or more ago. When artefacts managed to survive decades and decades together, it seemed like such an anticlimax to purposefully disconnect them. They may have weathered storage, use, or neglect, and yet man would still wilfully destroy their narrative. From
Introduction: My family was never the richest, always looking for help in many different ways. A struggle was my mom trying to take care of three children all on her own, ensuring there was a roof over our heads, food in our stomach and clothes on our backs. We have moved many times since I was about four years old, but never did I think about how hard it was to find a new home each time. Although my mother was able to get section 8 (which can be considered as the Housing Choice Voucher which is money given to low income families to help pay the rent), it is still very tough to find a home which the voucher covers.
struggle is never resolved, others take most of a lifetime. For a lucky few, they are
Everyone encounters a hardship in their life at some point. It is whether or not you attempt to overcome it, determines your success. One of my favorite quotes from Mark Twain “Worrying is like paying a debt you don’t owe,”1 is stating that we worry over simplistic things, while we shouldn’t concern ourselves over it at all. I strongly agree with this quotation by one of the most renowned American writers in modern history because I would like to believe it justifies my first statement. Worrying about an obstacle in front of you may alter your view of it or generally deter you from attempting to overcome it.
Diasporas can influence their home states in three primary manners. First, diaspora use remittances to a) help and to influence family, religious and ethnic members and interest groups and b) to a lesser and more recent degree, influence the state in particular ways. Second, diaspora engage in home state political party mobilization in order to influence home state politics and economics. Third, a diaspora uses its host state political and economic apparatuses to influence their home state.
