Water plays a vital role in everyday life, from quenching your thirst on a hot summer day, to being one of the main ingredient of life in all aspects on earth.
Recently, Georgia has been under a severe water drought. Lake Lanier in Georgia, which is a major supply of drinking water to its state, and neighboring states Alabama, and Florida; has been at its lowest in years. Georgia’s drought is certainly due to the lack of precipitation; therefore, creating water levels to decline more rapidly as time progresses. The state has now asked its homeowners to monitor their water usage, which includes watering lawns, washing cars, and other outside water activities.

One of Georgia’s main drinking water source is supplied from its man-made lake located in Hall County, which is approximately 45 miles north of its capital Atlanta. Lake Sidney Lanier, water levels are currently at a frightening low point. According to USA Today, a federal judge recently ruled, that the metropolitan Atlanta has been illegally taking water from Lake Lanier, because he states the lake was built for hydroelectric power generation and other uses — not for drinking water. (usatoday.com) Lake Sidney Lanier has also provided its neighbors Alabama, and Florida water, and is currently in a “water war”. Congress is currently forcing these three states to come up with a solution, to evenly distribute water amongst them in the near future, before there are forced to relocate the water at Lake Lanier. If the problem persists, it can actually be devastating in the state of Georgia; Commissioner Charles Bannister, said that Lake Lanier could actually become a dessert if it’s ever drained. However, the state representative is very confident that a solution will be meet in the near future. This current conflict has put a strain on the local environment economically according to leaders in Apalachicola, Fla., who say their seafood industry has been hammered by lower stream levels caused by Atlanta's withdrawals. Georgia’s farm life are taking a direct punch from this crisis. In article, “Newton farmers struggling to produce in the midst of drought”, I’ve thought how farmers are dealing with this current drought situation? Since Georgia is known as the “Peach State”, as one of its famous nickname. Well, farmers in Newton County, Georgia are definitely feeling the effects with “corn yields in the county are half of what they were last year, and soybeans – barely a quarter of last year’s output”(Rimal, G 2016). According to farmers, the lack of rain has a ripple effect from not only damages it has on the crops and livestock; 1 but the lively hood of farmers, and their families. Farmers speaks about an abundance of armyworms, that if there is “any remaining green grass or hay left, armyworms will easily devour them” (Rimal, G 2016). Therefore, knowing how vital water is, farmers in Newton County Georgia, are continuing to remain optimistic in hopes next season will be
Water governance in this case is not limited to even the state of Georgia’s government to handle despite most of the system traveling through Georgia. Controversy arises
due to Georgia’s unwillingness to agree to any real restrictions on water use by metro Atlanta. This paper will outline why new
Thesis: Georgia should be able to continue their withdrawals from Lake Lanier and the water basins because of their water supply needs for irrigating its crops in the south, flood control, and sustaining its rapidly growing population in the metro Atlanta area.
Water is one of the most precious resources, which support the life of almost everything in the world. Indeed, the world is covered by 75% water, but most of this water is not suitable for human consumption or use. On the same note, the world has been increasing its consumption of water due to the increasing population, leading to increased demands. The increased water consumption, which has been a result of high population, is worrying because the matter may lead to massive water shortages in the future.
You are attending a school and the same people that are into athletics getting all the fame. The Athletes are put on a higher pedestal, because everyone recognizes their talent. Deep in the shadows lurks people talented in other activities such as chess, dramatics, singing, video games, and plenty more other non-athletic activities. This is exactly the situation at East Jordan high school. At every pep assembly the athletes are recognized for their talents. Which they have deserved, but other students deserve to have their talents show too. Here at East Jordan high school, we do not have much clubs for people with other types of talents. One way we could solve this problem is adding more clubs to give everyone that moment to shine. East Jordan Middle/High School must add non-athletic after school activities because it will help
Texas, with its abundances of natural resources, is facing a new demon, one that doesn’t even seem possible, a shortage of water. Water, without it nothing can survive. Texas is the second largest state for landmass in the nation and ninth for water square miles. Within the borders of Texas are more than 100 lakes, 14 major rivers, and 23 aquifers, so why has water become such an important issue for the state? Politicians and conservationists all agree that without a new working water plan, the state could be facing one of the most damaging environmental disasters they have ever seen. The issues that shape the states positions are population growth, current drought conditions, and who actually owns the water.
Water is a precious resource. It is the lifeblood of every living thing on Earth. California is in the midst of a water crisis. Combined with a three (plus) year drought and many people moving into the state there is not enough water to support the crops the farmers need to grow. There is also a tiny little fish that is causing a mess in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Delta water pumps were turned off to prevent the extinction of the tiny little fish. Some farmers have to let their fields sit idle for the fall and spring planting season. This is causing a lot of problems in California. The pumps need to be turned back on. The needs of the people should come before that of a fish.
Due to the lack of rain in the past few years, and particularly in the last few months, California faces severe drought. This is the worst drought in more than one hundred years. The impact of California drought affects community, agriculture, organic ranchers, and dairy farmers. Because of these facts, the United States must rethink the way it uses water. Californians alone are asked to reduce their water usage by twenty percent to prevent water waste.
Water is one of the most important elements on Earth and also for our body. We need water to work and function properly and well. Without enough supply of water, our body will grind to a halt and collapse.
Specific purpose statement: To persuade my audience to take action in order to conserve one of the most finite and precious resources we have in the U.S.
One of the main themes in Greek tragedies is that through suffering there is knowledge to be gained. Greek tragedies focused on popular myths and beliefs, especially in relation to the mythical powers of the gods. The plays read in class show how knowledge is gained through suffering in relation to: the hubris and stubbornness seen by Creon in Antigone, the attempt of trying to change fate seen through Oedipus in Oedipus Rex, and the consequences of disastrous flaws demonstrated by the character Pentheus in the Bacchae.
Water is essential for life as we know it on earth. It is used by plants
Water is considered as an essential for human existence. We all can survive without food for some day but no one can live without water at least two days. Human body consists of 70% percent of water and our globe is covered by 69.9% percent of water. But unfortunately the useable fresh water is just 2.5% out of it. Water is a social good, water is an economic good, water has ecological value and water has religious, moral and cultural value.
Water is essential for life on earth. Water is needed for growing food, keeping ourselves clean, generating power, controlling fire and most importantly to stay alive! This list is simply non-ending. This shows that water is an integral part of our daily life and we are heavily dependent on it.
Water is our main source of our life. We need it to live, drink, bathe,
