Diversity is known as having people who are different races or who have different cultures working in a group or organization. A diverse organization is one that values the difference in people. It is one that recognizes that people with different backgrounds, expertise, attitudes and experiences bring fresh ideas and perceptions to the organization. Teach for America is one that prioritize diversity throughout their organization, in fact, diversity is one of their core values. "While I started out knowing that diversity would be important, over time I've seen firsthand that achieving greater levels of diversity, particularly with respect to race and economic background, is in fact vital to our long-term success (Wendy Kopp, founder)."
Diversity is known as individuals which are representing more than one national origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, beliefs, and age which create a diverse workforce environment were some feels valued at all costs and was skill sets are being used to develop goals within the organisation.

The presence of Latinos in the United States challenges the notion of there being only one specific type of American citizen, an English-speaking person who lives only in relation to an "Anglo" heritage. Alongside other minority groups, Latinos tend to believe in the notion that the United States must be made up of one bounded territory, within which people speak a singular language and experience one culture. Throughout the world social problems such as illiterate, elderly, handicapped, minority groups, and poverty have been the biggest part in our society for many years. Diversity is a very broad discussion today, it can range from race, gender, sexuality, political or religious views, or even mental disorders. In America, which is basically a melting pot of different cultures in itself seems to struggle with diversity in the one place it really shouldn’t, tv and movies. But how could the entertainment industry affect the way we view others? Simple, through representation. Representation is the act of showing off a particular group of people. Through this, the characters that belong to these groups, cultures or lifestyles act as representatives that show off how they interact with the world. Something that I learned in this course that I saw in the video is that these people are mentally strong in the face of adversity in America. For example, although the man named Joseph, who has been laid out from work several times, his kitchen was set on fire, stabbed, and hit by a car, his response was surprisingly dull. There's also a guy who has trouble sleeping because of nightmares. However, compared to the things they've been through before going to America, things like that were probably really upsetting at most but not enough to shake them as survivors that has seen and experienced much more than that. I am currently at a placement site, where there is not much diversity when it comes to race. Many of my students consider themselves white or non hispanic with the exception of seven students. Out of those seven, two identify as African American, three identify as hispanic and the other two identify with two or more races. Besides race, I have diversity amongst gender, socioeconomic status, learning styles, accommodations, and modifications. My classes are comprised of more females than males who come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Some of the students come from well off families with occupations such as pastors, educators, military personnel, business owners, and doctors while others come from farmers, grocery store workers, restaurant employees and construction workers. Though there is nothing wrong with the occupations of the parents, it is obvious that there is a difference between the
Diversity means to value and respect the differences and individuality of people. This means to embrace the differences between people and to treat a person’s race, culture, religious beliefs, age, sexual orientation, gender, physical and mental characteristics etc. with respect.
The information that I have learned about diversity in the United States of America has helped me better understand and relate to others in many ways. The world is full of different people and ethnicity, race, creative individuals. Each race has issues to deal with rather it be prejudice and racism. Also during my time in this course I have learned a great deal about myself and I learned how to show more respect to other cultures, I already understood some of the cultures and races we studied this course but to get a better understanding and having to additional research really gave me an open mind and point of view what everyone deals with.
