The Democratic campaign was heating up in Nevada as Hillary Clinton faced off against Bernie Sanders. Many thought Hillary Clinton would win the state of Nevada of her having her campaign their often.Last Month, She was 25 point favorite in the state. But, Bernie Sanders who barely had his campaign in Nevada started rallies in Las Vegas gathering as much as 1,700 people in the state. Hillary Clinton ultimately won the state of Nevada she won the vote 52.6% to 47.3%. If Bernie Sanders won the caucus it would have been a huge boost on his campaign to become a U.S president. This is important because Winning states is huge to be nominated as the democratic presidential candidate. This is important to me because a new president will affect our
On a side note, I'm happy to say that a good portion of Sanders' supporters I've met at campaign events are completely dissatisfied with the Democratic Party. At several events, event organizers have asked those in attendance, "Who will vote for Hillary if Bernie doesn't get the nomination?" More often than not, at least half the room doesn't raise their hands.
Although Burr was never able to reach 50% in the polls, he exceeded that threshold on Election Day and defeated Ross by almost 6%. In order to analyze the political climate further, I will be comparing the exit polls for both Trump vs. Clinton and Burr vs Ross. This will help explain why Ross was entering the Senate race with a disadvantage despite media pundits arguing that higher turnout in presidential election years should benefit Ross. Although Five Thirty Eight gave Clinton the slight edge to defeat Trump in North Carolina, Trump’s was able to carry the state with a modest performance. Although Real Clear Politics had Burr winning by an average of 2%, that was certainly below the 5.7% final result. In a three way race between Trump, Clinton, and Johnson, Trump was predicted to win North Carolina by about 1%. The actual results, however, showed Trump winning by about 4%. Although this paper is focusing on the Senate race, it’s certainly important to note the impact that a presidential candidate can have on the electoral map, particularly

The point is that he [Bernie Sanders] can’t win in the face of how the DNC has influenced the (information (data as you call it) and debates. It is perfectly clear as to the preference of the DNC, and their preference is Hillary Clinton because it has been calculated that she, and not Bernie Sanders, would have the best chance of becoming the next President of the United States. In addition, Hillary Clinton is more aligned with party ideals and principals then Bernie Sanders is. In fact, Sanders and Trump find themselves in a comparable situation where their own parties are at odds with who and what they stand for.
Yet it is a swing state. The record shows despite the victory of President Obama in the state of North Carolina, the state is dominantly Republican since 1960s. Based on the facts, there are slightly more Democratic voters in North Carolina (2.8 million) than Republican voters (2.0 million). 54% of the voters consist of women. These facts favor Hillary Clinton but still both parties would campaign heavily for those 15 electoral votes. According to the early vote in North Carolina, 40 percent of the electorate already cast the ballot and the amount portrays a significant lead towards the former Secretary of State. Overall, Mrs. Clinton led the early votes by 51 to 39 percent in three way race and 53-39 percent in two-way race. Researchers found out the amount of Democratic voters in North Carolina declined in 2016 compared to the amount four years ago. On the other hand, the amount of Republican voters increased this year compared to the amount in 2012. The number of registered Democratic voters declined by 5.1 percent and the number of early voters have dipped by 3.1 percent. This shows the number of Democratic turnout hasn’t dropped as much as the number of registered Democrats. Another side of the early votes show the early votes of Black voters dropped from 28 percent in 2008 to 23 percent in 2016. This shows the lack of enthusiasm from the North Carolina black voters. It
I choose to invest my time and effort in social justice work because every human should be guaranteed the same rights and opportunities as it uplifts society. Especially since I lived a life where every door was open to me. I want that to be available to everyone else. When I work to try to improve my community there’s this excitement as you feel like you are changing the world even if it's in small increments. The prospect of starting a movement or changing people’s worldview is fascinating. The Bernie Sander’s movement in the democratic primary was where I developed this passion for politics and social justice as it was exciting to see him bring people into civic activity based on the issues that affect everyone. Plus, there’s this sense
During any election candidates usually perform more effort towards swing states. The importance of the swing states to the candidates affects the citizens and their location due to swing states. A swing state is highly important to win an election because it can decide the result of an
Q: You 've been a little vague on what you would do about the Syrian refugees. What 's your view on them now?
In a stunning upset, the deep red state voted for the first Democratic Senator in more than two and a half decades in a slim victory, giving the Democrat party momentum heading into the 2018 election while wounding a divided GOP.
Bernie sander is pro for national legalization and ending the federal prohibition on marijuana. That the state of Vermont voted to decriminalize small possession amount of marijuana and he supported that. He supported the medical use of marijuana when he was mayor. When he was mayor ever few people got arrested for marijuana because the police had something better to do. Pluses lot of people live got destroyed in this country for non-violent offenses. Bernie believe that the states have the right to regulate marijuana the same way they sale alcohol and tobacco. This mean that businesses in states that legalized should fully be able to use the bank without fear of the federal system. Banks have been afraid to work with marijuana related businesses
Government has been a paramount piece of the United States’s development after July 4, 1776. The role of government has been pivotal to the process of how America operates today. Government is an important part of America’s society because it protects individual rights of people. Government is a forever changing entity because it is a necessity to satisfy the people’s demands. As a political party, Democrats and Republicans have many views on different topics in America. Although the Democrats and Republicans may have different stances on modern issues in America, many of these politicians seem to have the same attitude toward changing policies on these issues/government. I believe that the democratic party is more appropriate party to represent the United States because of their philosophy. The traditional values of America needs to be altered and the democratic party represents the change that America needs. The democratic party best represents an ever-changing society by exemplifying the desires of the citizens as is apparent in their policies in regards to abortion, gun control, and same-sex marriage.
In the Democratic primaries Hillary Clinton can expect to receive little competition as it is much less oversaturated then the Republican race with her only opposition being Bernie Saunders. In the presidential race Hillary Clinton is clearly the best known candidate as American voters have already been familiarized with her from her time serving as First Lady to President Bill Clinton during his time in office, as well as her time serving as the United States Secretary of state. This is not her first time being a candidate in the primaries as she ran in the 2008 presidential
Some scholars have attributed early efforts at international health to local and independent authorities in areas ravaged by disease (Birn 3). The spread of disease in pre-16th century Europe did garner small, lackluster efforts to contain it (Birn 3), however true steps toward international health did not come until the rise of colonialism. Disease played a significant role in the colonialism that allowed imperialism to thrive during its heyday (Birn 9), however, I argue that colonialism and imperialism played just a significant, if not greater, role in the emergence of global health and disease response.
Referred to as the father of the English language, Chaucer has made a monumental impact with his works. “Chaucer is known for metrical innovation, inventing the rhyme royal, and he was one of the first English poets to use the five-stress line, the iambic pentameter, in his work, with only a few anonymous short works using it before him” (Oliver). He is known in history as a great iconoclast, or destroyer of sacred ideas, due to his controversial writings. In The Canterbury Tales, he questions societal norms through satire, or the saying of one thing but meaning another, the second meaning usually less than polite. He wrote his book in hopes of educating the common people, referred to as ‘yokels,’ about various societal issues. Chaucer’s used his various works of satire to attack hypocrisy in the church, the patriarchy, and nobility.
All of the changes we as a society have adjusted to over the past few decades have created revolutionary milestones for our everyday lifestyles and habits. Thanks to these advancements, we are also given a glimpse of what our society may become in the near and distant future. One of the most evolutionary aspects to today’s society is the cell-phone. As of today, our society most definitely takes the idea of cell-phones for granted, since they are now so easily accessible and common. But cell-phones weren’t nearly as useful and convenient to society decades ago. Throughout the nearly seventeen years of my life, I have observed how much society has improved technologically. How cell-phones became such an important part of our everyday lives is the idea that I am most curious about.
