The ideals and goals of humanism in the Renaissance period are apparent in different pieces of literature. More importantly, the scholars acknowledge the contribution of Italy around the fourteenth century to have flickered the developments that followed this period. The rebirth of knowledge that began in Italy spread to the north with the greater renewal of the interests of classical antiquity, and this is what is known in history as the “Renaissance.” The period was associated with greater discoveries within the geographical and intellectual realms. It activated the concept of an “active life” as opposed to the “contemplated life.” During the medieval period, people were living in contemplation, but with the rebirth of knowledge, people were obligated to take the active measure in making life worth living, while also taking care of other social beings. The man in the renaissance perspective should promote the cultural life with positive and active engagement with the public life. In doing so, human beings should seek and acquire significant knowledge in different areas to make it great. The human person should check his or her moral, military and political actions while undertaking the service to the state. While doing so, they should take into consideration the individual achievements, personal aspiration and the breadth of knowledge.
In conclusion, it is inferential that the Renaissance period gave a greater measure of attention to human growth with proper significance to human action. More importantly, the human person was to take an active role in making everything worth it and not living in contemplation. In that dictum, the emphasis was on human positive interaction to make sure that people live harmoniously not only with one another but also for one another.
