Iceman killer: The younger years. In the documentary, “The Iceman Tapes - Inside the Mind of a Mafia Hitman” Richard Kuklinski (The Iceman) talks about some of his crimes, what he was thinking while committing them, and expressing his lack of empathy. He also talks about his childhood with his family and early crimes. From an early age Richard endured a lot of trauma from his parents who were very abusive. His father worked for the railroad company and his mother was a very catholic who forced them to go to catholic school and be involved in the church. They seemed to have a good life but inside the home was a different story. He tells stories of how is dad was in a drunken rage and ended up murdering the eldest son one night, his father also
Richard believes that he was made to be the person he became because of his parents as both continuously beat him his entire childhood. Many neighbourhood children abused and harmed him as well, for many reasons such as being Polish, scrawny and weak. Neither parent ever helped Richard either mentally of physically throughout the time he was bullied. “Richard often wondered why his mother and father didn’t like him, what he had done to deserve their indifference and violence” (p.22). Richard’s mother, Anna would not only verbally assault him, but would also routinely abuse him beginning at a young age, with household items such as broomsticks. She thought of this as stern discipline, which was supposedly required when brought up in a religious upbringing. Richard’s father, Stanley, abused his wife, as well as all three of his sons; one of which died from one of the

Nixon was associated with the mafia, and had told Hoffa not to run for president of the Teamsters union, but Hoffa went against that. When Hoffa disappeared, he was attempting to regain his position of the union’s president after he was caught in 1967 for jury tampering, attempted bribery, and fraud. He was thrown in jail to serve a thirteen year sentence, and was in prison for four years before Nixon released him on one condition. Not to run for for union president or become involved in the union until his original sentence length was over. Hoffa didn’t listen to Nixon and instead almost immediately went back to being involved in the union. (Kniffen)
Dick Gregory talks about Richard when he was a child, and he had a crush on a girl in school named Helene Tucker. He was in love with her. Unlike Richard, Helene was well off who wore clean clothes and was very smart in school, but Richard was growing up in extremely deep poverty, which made his living situation difficult. Richard tried very hard to be like her. The only reason
The American Mafia in Chicago is different from the American Mafia in New York in that the Outfit has continuously been a compliant venture with other groups and there is a lack of independent entrepreneurs. The Outfit is an Italian-American crime organization. The Outfit has habitually been structured on the origin of separate street crews connected with particular geographic areas. Each Outfit crew is composed of made guys and associates who are said to be “connected.” The street boss and his lieutenants, if they are of Italian heritage, are made guys. Everyone else linked to the crew is an associate. Also, in Chicago, made guys hold supervisory status. For the most part, each street crew, acts freely of the other crews and each street boss,
Richard Reid did not have an easy start in life. When he was born, his father, a man in and out of prison, was currently incarcerated. He was raised by a single parent and struggled during his teenage years in school. It is easy to see why he dropped out at age 16 and followed in his father’s footsteps. Over the next few years, he would do multiple stints in correctional facilities.
Also, Richard in the story openly expresses his hate for being a victim of Canada’s residential school system when he said, “I ascribed all my pain to residential schools and to those responsible. I blamed churches for my alcoholism, loneliness, shame, fear inadequacy, and failures”. This shows that Richard is infuriated with the Christian
A constant need for love and care develops in Richard when he is young. One of the first major events that occur to Richard during his autobiography is the abandonment by his father. As soon as his father leaves him and his mother, Richard begins to be deprived of the love he needs most
The gangster genre within films in America has accomplished numerous positive criticisms and constant willing audiences due to containing outstanding spectacles and mind-blowing action. The Godfather, being second on the IMDb Top 250 Movies, has set a new popular concept to life within the Mafia from their point of view. Doing so, creating a positive association. Yet within Italy, the same topic contains a complete different view. Movies such as I Cento Passi demonstrate unenthusiastic view by those whom are outside yet negatively affected by those members. Unlike American films, the gangsters are not as often viewed at the protagonist and are the main causes for the problematic events. But how different is Italian Mafia and American
In the 1920s and 1930s America saw a large growth in mafias & mobs, drug & Alcohol Trafficking, and the organization of crime were a result of the Prohibition.
During the early 1900s, specifically the 1920s, organizations involved in sophisticated crime arose and lived on for decades, influencing American progress and culture. These organizations came to be known as the American Mafia, the Italian Mafia, or the Italian Mob. These “families”, as they were called, sprung up in large cities all across the United States. The mob progressed quickly in America, developing from the simplest of crimes to methodical, organized illegal activity. The method of structure and the emphasis of loyalty and secrecy made insiders of the mob very susceptible to exploitation by the local police and federal government agencies, many instances of which were eventually revealed to the public. The mafia, while still around today, fell in prominence and importance in the eyes of the American government and its people. The major time frame of relevance for the American Mafia is about 1920-2001.
Everyone has heard of the notorious Al Capone. Gang leader from Chicago who is responsible for many murders. What some may not know is that he was also a part of a much larger organization known as The Mafia. Defined by Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary as a “secret criminal society” the Mafia controls all organized crime in a particular area. They knew how to get what they wanted without getting caught and were not afraid of anything or anyone. Although the Mafia is still around today their prime years were from the 1920’s to the 1970’s. `Beginning in the late 19th century organized crime rose in popularity among American people. The Mafia and its following depended on family ties, secrecy, and loyalty as they participated in lawless
Jasmin Guerrero Richard Kuklinski On April 11, 1935 a baby boy was born in Trenton, NJ to Stanley and Anna Kuklinski. His name was Richard Leonard Kuklinski. He became known as one of the most brutal and sadistic serial killers there ever was.
The first thing that sets Richard Kuklinski apart is the fact that he has no conscience. Over and over again he killed based on the fact he was just told to. When asked in the interview why he killed and if he would if there was no reason to, he said, “yeah, I really did not have a reason to, and I just did it because.” With a slight grin on his face, he said he would kill for no reason. That really shows through as a pure psycho. Even worse than saying he would do it for no reason was when he described some of the times he killed this way. At one point in the interview, the Iceman described one of his most heartless
