The Seekers were formed in 1962 in Melbourne by Athol Guy on double bass (cello), Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar and Bruce Woodley on guitar. Guy, Potger and Woodley had all attended Melbourne Boys High School in Victoria. In the late 1950s, Potger led The Trinamics, a rock 'n' roll group, Guy led the Ramblers and, with Woodley, they decided to form a doo-wop music group, the Escorts. The Escorts had Ken Ray as the lead singer and in 1962 they became "The Seekers". Ray left the group to get married. His place was taken by Judith Durham, an established traditional jazz singer who added a distinctive female lead voice. The Howl and Big Sur are two excellent representations of people who lived alternatively, instead of conforming to society views and the materlistic lifestyle. The incredible creator of Howl, accurately demonstrated The Beat generation by displaying the destruction of the best minds. The destruction of the best minds were not teachers, lawyers, doctors or even nurses. However, the best minds that the reader were informed about were drug users, homeless people, as well as people who had mental health issues. As a conclusion, The Shining was a really good movie that redefine my own definition of horror movie, which I think a success horror movie should create its fear and scariness through it scenes or even theme, not just scary moment. The Shining create its fear through the supernatural power like Danny’s ability to “shine”, which cause the Overlook Hotel’s ghost and events to have the power to appear themselves. Also, the isolation theme that the Overlook Hotel, which later also create more fear by the insanity of Jack was the reason for The Shining to be success too.
