The Great Wall of China was originally built during the Qin and Han Dynasties to protect China from the Xiongnu. It took the people of ancient China nearly 2,000 years to build and spans nearly 6,000 miles. However, building the wall was extremely costly in terms of men and supplies. Despite the cost of the wall, it proved to be immensely beneficial to the Chinese people. This is a result of the wall providing protection for merchants, the people within the wall and preventing the Xiongnu from invading.

The Great wall cost them a lot of time and money. Document E states, during the period of the Qin they had people working on the wall for 10 whole years. That document also says many people died making the wall

The Great Wall was built by the Han and the Qin. The reason why the Han and Qin built the wall was to increase security, impress visitors, and enhance the glory of China, also to keep out the mongols. The benefits of building the Great Wall did outweigh the cost. According to Document A, the benefits of building a wall did outweigh the cost, due to the Great Wall was keeping the Xiongnu out from invasion and other enemies at night. The cost of The Great Wall was no fewer than one thousand households were designed to hold. Due to Document A, the benefits outweighed the cost because the Wall helped keep the mongols from getting over the wall and attacking. Over a period of 2,000 years The Great Wall of China was built. This Great wall was made by the Qin and the Han dynasties. It was built to keep out the Xiongnu. It was built from 221-206 B.C.E in the Qin and 206 B.C.E to 220 C.E., and a series of people worked on it. It was located in the Northern part of China.

  In 221 BCE the Qin Dynasty build several roads, palaces, and other architecture, they also build a wall, not just any wall a colossal wall that could surround far more than a city.  After a while they were overthrown by the Han dynasty,  they fell into Qin’s footprints, and build a wall to keep the Xiongnu (mongols)out.   The recipe for the perfect wall called for a frame that was 30’ long, 25’ wide and 20’ high, use dirt that was 6”-8” ft.

The colony of Roanoke is generally known as England’s first attempt to begin a civilized and stable colony in the unexplored parts of earth known as the New World. Sadly, the plan to colonize Roanoke Island didn’t go exactly as the British planned. The colonists had high hopes to find new things to take back to England to make profit off of and be the first to obtain life in the New World. Things started off well for the new colony, but the colonists began to have issues with the new people they had discovered on the island known as the Croatan and Secotan Indian’s. After multiple attempts of trying to succeed at living a sustainable life in the New World the colony of Roanoke failed to exist when John White returned to the colony in 1590 and found not a single soul on the island. No one to this day is quite sure what happened to the remaining colonist’s that were last seen on the island before John White left or any of the two Indian tribe’s that had once lived there.

In Tennessee Williams’s play, A Streetcar Named Desire he creates a very complex psychoanalytic plot. Freud's most enduring and important idea was that the human psyche (personality) has more than one aspect. Freud saw the psyche structured into three parts the id, ego and superego, all developing at different stages in our lives. These are systems, not parts of the brain, or in any way physical. The three main characters in the play can each be compared with one of the three parts of the human mind. Stanley’s character corresponds with the id, Stella’s character can be compared to the ego, and Blanche’s character would represent the superego. Looking at the play through this lens one can see Williams’s reflection of himself throughout his work with an alcoholic, abusive father of his own, a strict demanding mother, and a schizophrenic sister. Knowing this A Streetcar Named Desire brings on new bigger meanings of the inner conflict within its author (Silvio).

The Great Wall of China stretches about 5,500 miles long crossing deserts, mountains, grasslands, and plateaus. It took more than 2,000 years to build this incredible manmade structure. Many people died to build this wall. It displays the changes between the agricultural and nomadic civilizations. It proves that the superb structure was very important to military defense. It became a national symbol of the Chinese as a security for their country and its people. The Great Wall of China must be preserved at all cost because it is a historical symbol that made it possible for China and other nations across the world to prosper (UNESCO World Heritage Centre: The Great Wall).
