After his release from prison in 2016, the conspiracy that Gucci Mane is a clone rose due to leaving his “trap” lifestyle behind, picking up a new, sophisticated lifestyle, and how he will not confirm nor deny the allegations. To this day, there is still a lot of buzz in the air that the Gucci that was released in 2016 is not the same Gucci that was incarcerated in 2013.
Previous to his arrest, Gucci Mane became notorious for living and glamorizing the “trap” lifestyle, a lifestyle heavily influenced by and involved with drugs. From songs like Breakfast (Trap God), a song with lyrics “I smoke weed for breakfast / I drink lean for breakfast / I take mollies, I take xannies, I can’t eat no breakfast” (Genius, Breakfast) , and Lemonade, with lyrics “I'm moving slow cause codeine syrup's in my lemonade / I'm standing in the shade and I'm selling lemonade”. (Genius, Lemonade) After his release from Prison 3 years later, Gucci left behind his drug induced lifestyle and turned his life around to better himself, his career, and the people around him. In Gucci’s autobiography, he describes how he changed for the better, “I looked different from the man in my September mugshot.” (Mane 249) He also adds to the credibility of his new and improved lifestyle with the lyrics from the hit single Perfect Pint, produced by Mike Will Made It featuring Rae Sremmurd and Kendrick Lamar, Gucci rhymes “Now I'm back on top like I'm 'posed to be / But I done poured so many pints that shit got
He started off by talking about his living situation: he lives in part of the New York where the crime rate is so high that it often appeared on the New York times(“I grew up on the crime side, the New York Time side”). He did not have much money that is why he “had secondhands” clothes and he had this dream of becoming powerful people who can show off their guns casually, “pulling out Gats for fun”. But the only option he could make money is through drug dealing, explained by “only way I be gettin’ the G off was drug loot”. This is supported by the Ted talk “The freakoconomics of crack dealing” by famous USA economist Steven Levitt. In the video he talked about the dire situation of black teenagers facing in the housing projects: there were no legal options to make money available to them, the only option for those who wanted to move out is through drug dealing and this fully supported Raekwon’s statement in his verse. As Raekwon continues in his verse, he reveals that himself is also a drug addict, as seen from “started smoking woolas at 16“ (woolas is a good cannabis joint) and “no question i would speed for cracks and weed”. It seems like until this part of verse Raekwon is trying to brag about the drug-dealing and gangster life but then next few lines “my life got no better… figure out I went the wrong route” shows that even though he put in a lot
Hip hop paints pictures of poverty, violence, and thug life. Jay-Z says, “the story of the hustler was the story hip-hop was born to tell- not its only story, but the story that found its voice in the form and, in return, helped grow into an art” (Jay-Z, 18). This shows how hip hop became the voice for people living in the ghetto. The hustler’s story created a connection with a global audience that defined the life of pure struggle (Jay-Z, 18). For instance, Jay-Z was raised in Brooklyn’s drug-infested projects causing him to have a rough adolescence. He became a hustler to afford material items and help his mother pay for the bills like most teenagers in his generation. Jay-Z explains how teenagers were wearing automatic weapons as if they were sneakers. Instead of focusing on education, teenagers were worrying about adult responsibilities. Consequently, teenage roles were shifting in negative
He makes many references to the south and shout outs to his home state Georgia, “Overall Georgia, Overall Clean,” a feature and act common in southern rappers and southern rap to do as well as, “Dirty South mind blown, Dirty South bread,”. Ludacris takes his listeners on a trip to the south with his imagery of staple food and drink of the south, “catfish fried up, Dirty South fed,” catfish being a popular south plate and, “sweat for the lemonade, sweat for the tea,” lemonade and sweet tea also being staples of the south. Ludacris also HINTS to African Americans and slave culture in his song. While talking about the south ludacris states, “sleep in a cot pickin Dirty South bed,” referencing to the cotton picking slaves of the south and then continues through alliteration, “Afro picks, Afro chicks,” and “Afro-American, Afro thick,” the later verse being more emphasized as Ludacris strategically had some of the music and beats fade as he rapped it. Another southern factor Ludacris shows his listeners is the mean thuggish ways in which he has to and can be, “Southern Hospitality or overall mean,” as well imagery of threats and violence. Coming from the street and struggle, one must establish not to be messed with as Ludacris does, “Forty Glock cal’ keep your mouth on hold,” with threats of guns and threats to a snitch, “rip ya tongue ‘cause of what your mouth told,” ending with, “DTP stay doing thugged
You may know him from his Lisa Simpson haircut or his mouth full of 24-karat gold teeth; he is the 19-year-old rapper that is taking the music industry by storm. In the past, two years his music has gained national recognition and appealed to all types of fan bases. He is a force not to be reckoned with and his name is Kodak Black. He is the self-proclaimed “Project-Baby” from South Florida that is giving rapper a run for their money. Jon Caramanica, from the New York Times, described Black as “an unlikely savior for a hip-hop industry that has lately been preoccupied with melodic-minded Drake clones. Instead, he’s an old-fashioned literalist and represents the perennial power of grit even in a time that’s squeaky clean.” Kodak Black is an
Vanilla Ice uses a stereotypical approach to establish credibility from other rappers and his audience. With the use of literary devices, Vanilla Ice illustrates himself as an MC capable of “cooking [other] MC’s like a pound of bacon.” This simile comparing other MC’s to bacon gives the audience the impression that Vanilla Ice can out-perform any competitor. This is essentially challenging others as though they were no match for him. He also uses the stereotype that successful rappers constantly have female attention when he claims he has “girlies on standby.” However, he insinuates he is too good for these women after he “just drove by.” This implies that he not only has admirers, but it is not worth his time to stop and acknowledge them. He also makes his music seem desirable by comparing its value to that of drugs, claiming “if [his] rhyme was a drug [he’d] sell it by the gram.” This comparison demonstrates how addictive he believes his music is. Vanilla Ice uses these methods to appeal to the conventions of rap in order to create an image comparable to that of an established
Wholesale crime, Homicides, Deadly drugs, Guns, Violence, Disease, Really dangerous people roaming free, the overall urban demoralization and decay of social and institutional standards. This has been the Obamas hip-hop desecration of America where no one cannot hide the facts that in eight years our nation has been overrun by gangs, drug dealers, and the purveyors of vulgar sub-culture anti-law order
Who are veterinary technicians? Many people don't realize that a lot of the work done on animals, is by vet techs, instead of the actually veterinarian. Veterinarians wouldn't be able to do all the things they do throughout the day, without the help of their vet techs. Some say veterinary technicians even do more than the vets do in their daily routines. Veterinary technicians are important to animal clinics, and the community around them.
Nelson George states that “Gangsta rap is direct by- product of crack explosion. Unless you grasp that connection nothing else that happened in the hip hop’s journey to national scapegoat will make sense. This is not a chicken-or-the-egg riddle —first came rocks, then gangsta rap” (136). To prove his point he examines the connection between drug culture of the inner city areas and the hip hop music. The money collected from illegal drug deals spent on recordings of gangsta rap music. George says “Suspicion of women, loyalty to the crew, adoption of a stone face in confronting the world, hatred of authority—all major themes of gangsta rap-owe their presence of lyrics and impact on audiences to the large number of African-American men incarcerated in the ‘90s” (138). I agree with his statement that gangsta rap is a directed by- product of crack explosion, because social and racial issues for instance drug dealing influencing the lyrics of music and this explosion of heroin and crack in communities gave birth to gangsta rap.
Trap music is a sub-genre formed out of rap music first created in the late 90’s in the southernmost part of the United States. While the sub-genres actual creators are unknown, the first artists to adopt the musical style where Gucci Mane, Triple Six Mafia, and UGK (Music Origins). The similarities trap music has on rap music is almost uncanny, due to the involvement of rap music without the vocal and lyrical aspect. Thus, trap music has gained a following from new and upcoming artists including The Migos, Chief Keef, 21 Savage, and Lil Uzi Vert, who have brought the subgenre onto a mainstream level. The definition of the word “trap” refers to a place where drugs are often, made and sold
In Rap, there is a unique culture, history, social impact and influence on society. Hip-Hop/Rap is one of the most popular genre of music. It has helped shape the pop culture into what it is today. What is popular culture? The ideas, activities or products, which are popular among the general mass. In today’s pop culture, one subject that is at the top of the list is hip-hop/rap. Hip-Hop music highlights verses consisting of slang and catchy phrases, which some parents find troublesome. However, the younger generation find it to be an expression of an artist’s life. Although rap is very influential, other elements in the past have influenced rap. You can see this through the Mafia and their cultural
In the early 70's, a Jamaican, DJ known as Kool Herc attempted to combine his Jamaican style of disk jockey, that involved reciting improvised rhymes over the dub versions of his reggae records (Davey 1). He also invented turntables, which kept the music going, with the occasional voice on the top of records, which started the roots of rap music. Over time, the culture broke into mainstream, spread around the world, and young people who did not have much to do, created not only multi-million industry, but have also created a way we can speak to each other all around the world. Hip hop is linked to other music such as rap which is embraced by urban black population. It is raw self-expression, sometimes features expletive lyrics, and violence. “Hip hop artists spoke to despair and pain of urban youth and the poor who were often without a voice. The rappers themselves were, the product of that reality, and it was conveyed through their lyrics” (Muhammad 1).
There is little question that he came from the streets, but this had been a growing comparison among the correlation of hip hop and the crack generation. “Not only did black teenagers in similar situations relate to what Eazy was talking about, but white suburban kids fantasized about being in his situation” (Eriewine).
Gucci, a brand known for its quality, luxurious and royal association was confronted with strategic issues which made the company take notice of its strategy of expansion and brand personality. The company was not only having concerns with their product line but they were lacking unified corporate vision and strategy after its acquisition of some major names like YSL. Due to which they started having loophole in their luxurious goods market discipline. Strategic concern for the company was how does the brand image cascade down in the target market and how does it rejuvenate itself is a management lesson.
Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. In 1938, Gucci expanded and a boutique was opened in Rome. Guccio was responsible for designing many of the company's products. In 1947, Gucci introduced the Bamboo handle handbag, which is still a company mainstay. During the 1950s, Gucci also developed the trademark striped webbing, which was derived from the saddle girth, and the suede moccasin with a metal horsebit. The Gucci group really said it all, Tom Ford, creative director and Domenico de sole, president and CEO, stood side by side facing the camera with eyes of steel. These two men had, in the first six months of 1999, been the centerpiece of one of most higly contested hostile takeover battles ever seen on the Europian
Gucci Group is a luxury goods retailer focusing on improving their market share while producing high quality fashionable items. Initially, Gucci’s poor business strategy and internal family conflict directly resulted in decreased sales and net income. When Investcorp took control of the company, Gucci regained their success through quality management and acquisitions. Gucci’s product line now includes a large range of products. We would like to continue Gucci’s success and believe that the next major business decision for Gucci is how to manage the new acquisitions. We recommend that Gucci cease further acquisitions of companies to its portfolio and should not challenge the status quo by making big management changes
