The Greek myth that tells the morale tale of narcissism follows Narcissus, a hunter who was known for his beauty, as he earns the affection of many admirers but is unable to love one more than he loves himself. One of his rejected lovers prayed to Nemesis, the goddess of vengeance, to punish Narcissus for his self-absorbed nature. Narcissus came across his reflection in a pond and fell in love with himself, and was cursed to starve to death as he watched his reflection (Greek mythology). Like the Greek character Narcissus, people who are narcissistic possess an inflated self-image and crave attention and admiration to keep their self-esteem high. By September 2006, Facebook developed into an inclusive social networking site and allowed the public to register personal profiles that helps people stay in touch online. Today, Facebook is a free social networking website that allows users to create public profiles where they can upload photos and videos, send messages, and keep in touch with their friends and family. Facebook has been favored over other social media applications because it offers various ways of connecting with people. The social media application offers many features that allow users to connect with their online friends, such as: commenting on other posts, updating your status by sharing your thoughts or current mood, sharing your photos and videos with your friends, recording live videos, group messaging or messaging individually, and “liking” other user’s posts.
