Hello Tensley, and thank you again for your essay. Although it was not part of this assignment, I found myself wondering what group I would have aligned myself with. Would I be a laxist, a rigorist, or somewhere in between, much like Cyprian? First, we must examine a few important factors.

In John 9, there is a man who has been blind since the day he was born, not because he or his parents sinned as the disciples thought, but that “the works of God might be displayed in him” (John 9:3b). Jesus spit and made mud, put it on the man’s eyes, and told him to wash them in the pool of Silam; he gained his sight. He was brought to the Pharisees who questioned how he was healed and how a sinner could perform such a miracle for it was the Sabbath. His parents said they did not know how he was healed for they were afraid of confessing that Jesus was Christ in front of the Pharisees. The man was cast out after speaking with the Jews once more and Jesus confronted him and asked him if he believed in the Son of Man.

John the Baptist can be argued as the second most important person in the bible behind Jesus. John the Baptist was not only a follower of God but a teacher. He also prepared the way Jesus. Johns calling was to baptize people, he even baptized Jesus Christ himself. The part of John that stuck out to me the most was his humility.

The Gospel of John, the last of the four gospels in the Bible, is a radical departure from the simple style of the synoptic gospels. It is the only one that does not use parables as a way of showing how Jesus taught, and is the only account of several events, including the raising of Lazarus and Jesus turning water into wine. The Apostle John was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ. He was also known as the beloved disciple whom Jesus loved, and the author of the Gospel of St. John. Throughout the 3 years of Jesus’ ministry, Peter, James, and John walked closely with our Lord and Savior, learning of His ways and eventually becoming His inner circle. It was because of this accessibility into the life of Jesus that John could provide multiple first-hand experiences of the character and divinity Jesus Christ. Christians across the globe have different ideas about Jesus and his story. The Gospel of John and the way it tells Jesus' story is quite different from the other three Gospels primarily because of its author. Even though it is not precisely known who the author of this Gospel is, it is very apparent that he was likely in very close relationship with Jesus himself. Identified only as the beloved disciple, or the disciple whom Jesus loved, we can see this close relationship with Jesus throughout the entire narrative of this Gospel (John 20:2). I am sure the disciples did not fully understand the conversation that was taken place between them and Jesus in John 14. Even Thomas asked Jesus for clarity (John 14:5, NIV), as Jesus spoke about His departure to go prepare a place for them, and they would know the way (John 14:2-4). Nevertheless, Jesus wanted the disciples to understand that He would not leave them alone. He explained to the disciples, the Spirit of Truth would come to comfort them. There had to be question after question popping up in their minds. As we know, the Holy Trinity is the only ones we can count on. Therefore, there had to be a bit of devastation and grief going on as well. Jesus probably for many of them was the only person they could ever count on. He did not judge them. He taught them the heart of God, invested time in them to achieve greatness, and showed them genuine love no matter what their family or criminal background was. John saw God do a lot of great things. John wrote about when Jesus turned water into wine. Jesus was at a wedding when the host ran out of wine. He did not know what to do. Jesus told them to fill up the jars with water, and then said take some to the master of the house. The man who took the water was very nervous, and did not think it would work. When the master tasted the water and it was wine. John also wrote about Jesus healing people at the pool. Jesus saw a man lying by the pool wanting to get in. But every time he would get close to the pool, someone else would get there

Worship in the Apocalypse of John Introduction When considering the book of Revelation, the reader immediately gets to the realization that worship from the book is central and key. The theme of worship is of critical importance the understanding the nature of the Revelation of John. The book of Revelation makes 24 allusions to worship which in biblical Greek is the word proskuneoœ meaning to prostate oneself to pay respect and reverence. It is of vital importance to note that when John writes the book of Revelation he is in worship mode, hence Revelation (1:10, 4:2 and 21:10) all he saw, he saw while he was in the ‘Spirit (Tyndale, 1995).

I found the Gospel of John was a higher level of philosophy compared to the Gospel of Mark. I understood the baseline story without having to reread it and right away knew this gospel was intended to show more of the potential of Jesus Christ and his way to express the Word of God. John conveys Jesus as a leader who uses metaphors in explaining to the disciples the idea of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel of John is believed to be the last of the four Gospels in the New Testament to be written. While the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are similar in their common view, the book of John is distinct. In contrast, none of the parables are recorded in John, and only seven of the miracles are featured. Instead, John delivers the meaning of Jesus by giving the readers a deeper insight and a deeper understanding of Him. He establishes that Jesus Christ is the Jewish Messiah that was prophesized in the Old Testament, who was sent to earth by God in human flesh, gives his life on the cross, and then returns to the Father – all with the view that we may believe in him and receive eternal life.

John the Evangelist employed the term Logos to describe Jesus as the Word of the invisible God who became man and dwelt among us (Jn 1:1-3,14). This dogma determined the direction of everything else in the Johannine Christology. Yet, it would seem that the evangelist took the concept logos from the ancient Greek philosophy according to which the cosmos is with no doubt governed by some power – Logos. Also, John’s conception of Christ was probably influenced by some Old Testament passages (cf. Robert S. The Gospel of John Our knowledge of Jesus comes to us in large part through the reading of the Gospels. The Gospels give us great information in regards to the life, ministry, public life, death as well as the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Gospels present four different images of Jesus Christ. These four Gospels belonging to the New Testament talk about Jesus Christ from different perspectives, but at the same time they are complementary of each other. The differences in them exist due to differences in time, location, sources, audiences and theology.
